Overview
The Radient Silicone Wire 12AWG, 680 Strand, 25ft / 7.5m in black is an essential component for any serious RC enthusiast building or maintaining their RC car, truck, buggy, or crawler in the UK. Whether you're a seasoned RC hobbyist working on competition vehicles or a weekend basher looking to upgrade your RC setup, this high-quality silicone wire provides the reliability and performance you need for professional-grade electrical connections. Supplied on a convenient roll, this wire is designed to meet the demanding requirements of modern RC racing and bashing applications across all vehicle types.
Silicone wire has become the gold standard in the RC hobby for good reason. Unlike traditional PVC-insulated wire, silicone insulation remains flexible even in cold conditions, making it ideal for the UK climate where temperatures can fluctuate dramatically. The Radient brand is recognised for delivering quality components that RC enthusiasts trust, and this 12AWG silicone wire is no exception. The 680-strand construction provides exceptional flexibility whilst maintaining excellent electrical conductivity, making it perfect for applications where the wire needs to flex without cracking or breaking during use.
With 25 feet of wire on a single roll, you'll have more than enough length for multiple projects, repairs, or building complete RC electrical systems. The black colour is a practical choice that blends seamlessly with most RC vehicle builds and looks professional in any custom setup. Whether you're wiring up a brushless motor system, connecting LiPo batteries to your ESC, or building custom harnesses for your RC racing vehicle, this Radient silicone wire delivers the quality and performance you deserve.
Key Features
- 680-Strand Construction — The 680 individual strands make this wire exceptionally flexible and resistant to cracking, even after repeated bending and flexing during RC car operation or maintenance work, ensuring longevity and reliability in your RC hobby setup.
- 12AWG Gauge Rating — This wire gauge is perfectly sized for high-current applications commonly found in RC vehicles, including brushless motor connections, ESC to battery connections, and other critical power delivery systems where proper gauge selection is essential.
- Silicone Insulation — The silicone insulation remains pliable in cold weather and provides superior durability compared to standard PVC insulation, making it ideal for RC enthusiasts in the UK working year-round regardless of seasonal temperature changes.
- 25 Feet of Wire on Roll — Providing 7.5 metres of continuous wire length, this amount is sufficient for building multiple RC battery harnesses, motor leads, or charging connections, with plenty left over for future projects and repairs to your RC collection.
- Black Colour — The professional black finish matches modern RC vehicle aesthetics and provides excellent visibility of the wire's integrity during maintenance and troubleshooting of your RC car or truck electrical systems.
- Radient Brand Quality — Manufactured by Radient, a trusted name in RC components, this wire meets the exacting standards demanded by competitive RC racing and serious RC car builders throughout the UK hobby community.
Technical Performance
The Radient Silicone Wire 12AWG represents a significant upgrade for any RC enthusiast serious about their vehicle's electrical performance and longevity. The 680-strand construction is specifically engineered to provide maximum flexibility without sacrificing electrical conductivity, which is critical when routing wires through tight spaces in RC chassis or when frequent disconnection and reconnection is required during maintenance. At 12AWG gauge, this wire is rated for high-current applications typical in modern brushless RC vehicles running 2S, 3S, 4S, or higher LiPo battery configurations. The silicone insulation offers superior performance compared to traditional PVC-insulated wire, particularly in the variable UK climate where temperature fluctuations can cause brittle PVC to crack and fail. Silicone remains pliable across a much wider temperature range, ensuring your electrical connections remain secure whether you're running your RC buggy on a cold winter morning or during warmer summer bash sessions. The wire's construction and materials reflect professional-grade standards, making it suitable for everything from casual RC racing to competitive motorsport where reliability is non-negotiable.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is 12AWG silicone wire used for in RC vehicles? — 12AWG silicone wire is ideal for high-current applications in RC cars and trucks, including connecting brushless motors to ESCs, linking LiPo batteries to speed controllers, and building custom battery harnesses. The 12AWG gauge provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst remaining flexible enough for the tight routing requirements of modern RC chassis design.
- Why is silicone wire better than PVC wire for RC hobbies? — Silicone insulation remains flexible even in cold temperatures, making it perfect for UK weather conditions, whilst PVC can become brittle and crack in winter. Additionally, silicone wire withstands the heat generated by high-current applications better than PVC, providing superior longevity and safety for your RC racing setup.
- Is 25 feet enough wire for my RC project? — 25 feet (7.5 metres) is sufficient for most RC vehicle builds, including battery harnesses, motor leads, and multiple connection points. However, if you're planning several projects or building multiple RC vehicles, you may want to order additional rolls to ensure you have adequate supply.
- Can I use this wire for both AC and DC applications? — Whilst this wire is designed primarily for DC applications typical in RC vehicles powered by LiPo batteries and brushless motors, its robust silicone insulation makes it suitable for various electrical applications within the RC hobby and general electronics use.
- What does the 680-strand construction mean? — The 680 individual strands refer to the number of small copper conductors twisted together within the wire. This multi-strand construction provides exceptional flexibility, making the wire easier to route through tight spaces in your RC chassis without kinking or breaking, whilst maintaining excellent electrical conductivity for reliable power delivery.
- Is this wire suitable for beginners building their first RC vehicle? — Yes, absolutely. Whether you're a complete beginner discovering RC for the first time or an experienced builder, this Radient silicone wire is straightforward to use and provides professional-quality connections. Its flexibility makes it forgiving to work with, and the silicone insulation is durable enough to withstand the learning curve of RC building and maintenance.
