Overview

The Radient Silicone Wire 10AWG is an essential component for any serious RC hobbyist in the UK looking to build reliable and safe electrical connections in their models. Whether you're wiring up a brushless RC car, assembling a high-performance drone, or upgrading the power distribution in your RC truck, this premium silicone-insulated cable provides the quality and durability you need. With approximately 7.5 metres (750cm) of genuine Radient silicone wire on a convenient roll, you'll have ample reach for even the most complex wiring jobs without needing to splice multiple shorter lengths together.

Silicone insulation is the preferred choice for modern RC applications because it offers superior flexibility, heat resistance, and durability compared to standard PVC insulation. The 10AWG specification makes this wire ideal for high-current applications where thick gauge cable is essential for minimising voltage drop and ensuring safe power delivery. Whether you're a weekend basher setting up your first brushless RC monster truck, or an experienced RC competitor building a competition-grade vehicle, quality wiring is absolutely critical to reliability and safety. The black colour keeps your installations neat and unobtrusive, maintaining a professional appearance whether you're working on an RC buggy, short course truck, or any other RC vehicle type. This premium silicone wire from Radient is manufactured to exacting standards and is trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand nothing less than excellence in their hobby electronics.

RC Model Shop stocks Radient silicone wire because we recognise that proper power distribution is just as important as your motor, ESC, and battery. One strand of undersized or damaged wire can compromise your entire setup, causing voltage sag, poor performance, and potentially dangerous situations. By choosing quality silicone wire like this 10AWG option from Radient, you're making a smart investment in the longevity and safety of your RC car, truck, or aircraft.

Key Features

  • Premium Silicone Insulation — The wire is wrapped in genuine silicone insulation rather than standard PVC, which provides superior flexibility, better heat resistance, and improved durability even in demanding conditions. This matters because silicone won't crack or become brittle over time, ensuring your connections remain reliable for years to come.
  • 10AWG Gauge Specification — This thick wire gauge is specifically designed for high-current applications where minimising voltage drop is critical. The larger conductor cross-section can safely handle the amperage demands of brushless RC systems, ensuring your battery power reaches your motor and ESC without significant loss along the way.
  • Generous 7.5 Metre Length — The approximately 750cm supply on a single roll gives you plenty of wire for routing around your RC chassis, creating clean cable runs, and completing longer wiring jobs without the need for splicing. This extended length is particularly valuable when working on larger RC vehicles or those with complex power distribution requirements.
  • Convenient Roll Format — The wire comes on a roll which makes it easy to store, measure out exactly what you need, and keep organised in your workshop. Unlike pre-cut lengths, the roll format gives you the flexibility to cut any length you require for your specific application.
  • Professional Black Colour — The black finish maintains a clean, professional appearance in your RC build, and is the standard choice for electrical wiring in hobby electronics. The dark colour also helps distinguish power distribution wiring from other cables in your setup.
  • Trusted Radient Brand — Radient is a recognised manufacturer of premium RC electronics and accessories, and their silicone wire is trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK for its consistent quality and reliable performance in demanding hobby applications.

Technical Performance

The 10AWG silicone wire from Radient represents genuine engineering quality in RC power distribution. The 10AWG gauge refers to the American Wire Gauge standard, which specifies a conductor diameter that provides excellent current-carrying capacity whilst remaining flexible enough for routing through an RC vehicle chassis. Silicone insulation is the gold standard in hobby electronics because it maintains flexibility across a wider temperature range than PVC, resists cracking from flexing, and offers superior heat tolerance — crucial factors when dealing with the high currents and heat generated by brushless motors and high-amperage ESCs commonly found in modern RC cars and trucks. The thick insulation layer provides robust protection against short circuits and accidental contact, whilst the large conductor cross-section minimises voltage drop across even longer cable runs. When building a serious RC setup with brushless power, quality wiring like this 10AWG silicone cable is just as important as selecting the right motor, ESC, and battery. The black colour is standard in professional RC builds and complements any colour scheme. At 0.52kg for the 7.5 metre roll, this is clearly proper gauge cable with substantial copper content — significantly heavier and more robust than cheap alternatives. Whether you're upgrading your RC buggy, building a competition-grade short course truck, or assembling a high-performance brushless system from scratch, this wire delivers the reliability and safety you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What gauge wire do I need for my brushless RC car or truck? — The gauge you need depends on the maximum current draw of your system. For most modern brushless RC cars running 3S or 4S LiPo batteries with brushless motors and high-amperage ESCs, 10AWG silicone wire is an excellent choice that minimises voltage drop while remaining flexible enough to route through your chassis. If you're running extremely high-current systems (100A+), you may need even heavier gauge, but 10AWG covers the vast majority of hobby RC applications.
  • Why is silicone insulation better than standard plastic wire? — Silicone insulation stays flexible in cold and heat, resists cracking from repeated flexing, and tolerates higher temperatures than PVC plastic. In the demanding environment of an RC vehicle where wires experience vibration and temperature swings, silicone insulation simply lasts longer and remains safer. It's the professional choice used by serious RC competitors and hobbyists across the UK.
  • How much wire do I get, and is it enough? — You receive approximately 7.5 metres (750cm) on a single roll, which is sufficient for most complete RC builds. Even if you have a large chassis or complex power distribution requirements, 7.5 metres will typically cover your needs. The roll format allows you to cut exactly the lengths you require.
  • Is this wire suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. In fact, beginners should prioritise quality silicone wiring from the outset. Using proper gauge silicone wire makes your RC build safer and more reliable from day one, and it's good practice to establish proper wiring habits. Whether you're assembling your first ready-to-run RC truck or building a complete custom RC car setup, quality wiring like this should always be a priority.
  • What is the diameter and current capacity of 10AWG wire? — The 10AWG specification is part of the American Wire Gauge standard and indicates a conductor suitable for high-current applications typical of brushless RC systems. The thick conductor minimises voltage drop, which is critical for maintaining motor performance and ESC stability in demanding RC driving conditions.
  • Can I use this wire for both power distribution and signal cables? — This is heavy-gauge power distribution wire specifically designed for carrying high currents. It's not suitable for delicate signal cables or servo leads, which require much thinner gauge wire with different properties. Use this 10AWG silicone wire exclusively for main battery connections, motor leads, and ESC power distribution.
