Overview
The Radient Battery Adapter (RDNAC010117) is an essential connector solution for RC enthusiasts who work with multiple battery and charger types. This compact JST Micro male to Deans female adapter bridges the gap between small-scale electronics and standard T-plug systems, making it an indispensable addition to any RC hobbyist's toolkit. Whether you're running micro RC models, managing a collection of batteries with different connectors, or setting up bench testing stations, this adapter delivers a quick, reliable way to interface incompatible leads without the need for soldering or cutting existing connectors.
For anyone involved in the RC car UK community, whether you're a basher, racer, or collector, connector compatibility issues are a common challenge. The Radient adapter solves this problem elegantly and affordably. This is particularly valuable when you're integrating components from different manufacturers or upgrading your RC setup piece by piece. The lightweight, compact design makes it easy to carry between the field and the bench, ensuring you're always prepared for quick adaptations and connections.
Recommended for hobbyists aged 14 and above, this adapter is perfect for intermediate and advanced RC enthusiasts who need flexible connectivity solutions. It's equally at home in a competition pit, a casual backyard bashing session, or a dedicated workshop. The simplicity of the design means there's nothing to calibrate, program, or troubleshoot — just plug and play reliability every single time you need to bridge JST Micro and Deans connectors.
Key Features
- JST Micro Male Connector — One end features a JST Micro male connector, which is the standard connection type for small-scale RC electronics, micro models, and compact battery systems, ensuring compatibility with the latest generation of lightweight RC equipment.
- Deans Female Connector — The opposite end features a Deans female connector (also known as HCT T-Plug format), which is the industry standard for most battery packs, chargers, and larger RC systems, giving you universal compatibility across the widest range of RC gear.
- Compact and Lightweight Design — Weighing just 0.01 kg (0.02 lb), this adapter adds virtually no weight to your RC setup, making it ideal for weight-sensitive applications and ensuring it won't affect your model's performance or balance characteristics.
- No Soldering Required — This pre-assembled adapter eliminates the need to cut, strip, or solder wires, saving you time at the bench and reducing the risk of electrical faults or poor connections that can damage expensive RC electronics.
- Ideal for Bench Testing — The adapter is perfect for evaluating components with mismatched connectors, testing battery capacity, or prototyping new RC configurations without committing to permanent modifications.
- Bridges Micro and Standard Systems — Acts as the crucial link between micro RC models and electronics using JST Micro leads and your existing collection of Deans-equipped chargers, batteries, and power systems.
- Age Recommendation 14+ — Suitable for teenagers and adults with basic understanding of RC hobby practices, ensuring the product is used by those with appropriate knowledge of battery safety and connector handling.
Technical Performance
The Radient Battery Adapter demonstrates robust engineering despite its simple design. The JST Micro male connector ensures secure mating with micro-scale RC electronics and compact battery packs, whilst the Deans female connector provides stable connections with industry-standard battery packs and charging systems. The adapter's construction combines reliable contact materials with a lightweight plastic housing that resists accidental damage during storage and transportation. This is not a heavy-duty, high-current charging lead — rather, it's a connectivity solution designed for bench work, testing, and system integration where occasional, moderate current flow is expected. The connector tolerances are precisely engineered to ensure firm connections without excessive force, preventing wear on either your batteries or chargers. For users in the UK RC community, this adapter's compatibility with both mainstream Deans systems and the increasingly popular JST Micro standard makes it invaluable as systems transition across different generations of RC technology. The 0.01 kg specification confirms its ultra-lightweight profile, meaning it can be incorporated into any RC setup without affecting weight distribution, speed, or handling characteristics. The adapter works equally well at room temperature and in typical outdoor RC field conditions, making it reliable whether you're testing in winter or summer conditions across the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are JST Micro and Deans connectors used for in RC models? — JST Micro connectors are standard on small-scale and micro RC electronics, batteries for tiny models, and lightweight systems where space is critical. Deans connectors (also called HCT or T-Plug format) are the industry-standard connector for most mainstream RC batteries, ESCs, and chargers. If your micro RC model has a JST Micro battery but your charger has a Deans connector, this adapter bridges that compatibility gap without soldering.
- Is this adapter suitable for charging batteries? — This adapter can be used in charging scenarios where the current requirements are modest. However, for high-rate charging (above 10-15 amps) or for extended use, you may want to consider dedicated heavy-duty charge leads with thicker gauge wiring. For bench testing, occasional charging, and general connectivity, the Radient adapter is perfectly adequate and safe.
- Will this work with my micro RC car or micro RC buggy? — Yes, if your micro RC car or buggy uses JST Micro connectors on its battery or electronics, this adapter allows you to connect to Deans-equipped chargers and power supplies. This makes it perfect for hobbyists in the UK who have accumulated RC gear with mixed connector types over time.
- Can I use this to charge my JST Micro battery with a Deans charger? — Yes, absolutely. This is one of the primary use cases for this adapter. If you have a battery with a JST Micro connector and a charger with a Deans female port, simply plug the adapter's JST Micro male end into your battery and the Deans female end into your charger. The adapter enables safe, direct charging without any additional modifications.
- Is this adapter suitable for beginners? — Yes, this adapter is beginner-friendly. There are no complicated setup procedures, calibration steps, or technical knowledge required. It's purely a mechanical connector solution — simply insert the male end into the female connector and you're ready to go. However, it is recommended for users aged 14 and above to ensure basic understanding of RC battery safety practices.
- What's the difference between this adapter and a heavy-duty charge lead? — This is a compact, lightweight adapter designed for general connectivity, bench testing, and occasional use. Heavy-duty charge leads typically feature thicker gauge wiring (often 14 AWG), longer lengths, and are specifically engineered for high-current charging applications exceeding 20 amps. This Radient adapter is perfect for general-purpose connectivity, whilst dedicated charge leads are better for intensive charging scenarios.
- Will this adapter add weight to my RC model? — No. At just 0.01 kg (0.02 lb), this adapter is negligible in weight. It's suitable for weight-sensitive applications, micro models, and any setup where minimising overall weight is important for performance and handling characteristics.
- How do I safely disconnect this adapter? — Simply grasp the connector bodies firmly and pull straight apart. Avoid pulling on the wires, which could damage internal connections. The Deans and JST Micro connectors are designed for reliable mating and separating, so there's no special technique required — just gentle, straight-line pulling.
