Key Features

  • 8.4V nominal voltage (7-cell) — This voltage output is optimised for reliable performance across a wide range of electric RC vehicles, providing the power needed for consistent acceleration and speed without excessive drain on individual cells.
  • 2000mAh capacity — The 2000mAh capacity delivers sufficient runtime for extended RC sessions, allowing you to enjoy longer playtimes before requiring a recharge, making it ideal for weekend bashers and casual hobbyists.
  • SC-size form factor — The compact SC battery size fits into space-constrained RC models where larger battery packs cannot be accommodated, making this ideal for smaller-scale RC cars and crawlers.
  • 6-1 stick configuration — The 6-1 stick arrangement (six cells in parallel with one cell in series within the pack) provides balanced power delivery and helps distribute thermal load evenly across the battery cells during use.
  • Deans (HCT) connector — The industry-standard Deans connector is recognised across virtually all RC brands and chargers in the UK, ensuring universal compatibility and eliminating adapter requirements for most RC setups.
  • Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) chemistry — NiMH technology is proven, reliable and forgiving, making it an excellent choice for RC hobbyists who want straightforward battery performance without the complexity of LiPo charge profiles.
  • Lightweight at 350 grams — Weighing just 350 grams, this battery pack minimises weight penalty in your RC vehicle, helping maintain optimal balance and handling characteristics without sacrificing power output.
  • Black finish — The professional black colour gives a clean appearance that matches most modern RC vehicle designs and battery trays.
  • Age 14+ recommendation — Designed for mature users who understand RC battery safety protocols, proper charging procedures and handling requirements for maximum lifespan and safety.

Technical Performance

The Radient NiMH 8.4V 2000mAh SC stick battery is engineered using quality nickel-metal hydride cell technology, a proven platform that has powered RC vehicles for decades. The 7-cell configuration delivers a nominal voltage of 8.4 volts, making it compatible with the vast majority of electric RC cars, trucks, buggies and crawlers in the UK hobbyist market. The 2000mAh capacity strikes an excellent balance between runtime and weight, providing approximately 20-40 minutes of continuous running time depending on your specific RC vehicle's power draw and driving style. The 6-1 stick configuration distributes current across six parallel cell groups, reducing internal resistance and ensuring stable voltage delivery under load. This engineering approach helps the battery maintain consistent performance throughout the discharge cycle, meaning your RC car will continue delivering strong acceleration and speed right until the battery reaches empty. The SC form factor is particularly valued in compact RC models where space is genuinely limited, and the Deans (HCT) connector provides rock-solid contact and universal compatibility with chargers and ESC receivers throughout the UK RC community. With proper care—including regular charging with a quality NiMH charger and storage in a cool, dry location—this battery pack will provide thousands of charge cycles, making it an economical choice for long-term RC hobby use.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the Deans connector and is it compatible with my RC car? — The Deans connector (also called HCT by some manufacturers) is the industry-standard power connector found on the vast majority of RC vehicles, chargers and ESC units sold in the UK. If your RC car has a Deans connector installed, this battery will connect directly without any adapters. If you're unsure, check your vehicle's manual or contact our team for clarification before purchase.
  • How long will this battery last on a single charge? — Runtime depends on your specific RC vehicle's power consumption and driving style, but expect approximately 20-40 minutes of continuous running time with this 2000mAh capacity. Lighter, smaller RC models may achieve longer runtimes, whilst high-performance vehicles with larger motors will consume more power and achieve shorter runtimes.
  • Is NiMH better than LiPo for RC batteries? — NiMH and LiPo each have advantages. NiMH batteries are more forgiving—they don't require sophisticated balancing chargers, are safer to store, and tolerate overcharging better than LiPo packs. However, LiPo batteries offer higher energy density and lighter weight. For beginners and casual RC hobbyists, NiMH is an excellent, straightforward choice that reduces the learning curve around battery management.
  • Can I use this battery in different RC vehicles? — Yes, provided your RC vehicles have 8.4V compatible electronics (most 7-cell compatible vehicles will work) and Deans connectors installed. The universal Deans connector means you can swap this battery between different RC models quickly and easily.
  • What charger do I need for this battery? — You'll need an NiMH-compatible charger with a Deans connector or Deans-to-your-charger adapter. Many quality RC chargers sold in the UK support NiMH charging. Do not use LiPo chargers or LiPo-only charging algorithms on this battery.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this battery is excellent for RC beginners. NiMH technology is proven, reliable and forgiving. It doesn't require the careful management that LiPo batteries demand, making it ideal for learning the fundamentals of RC driving without worrying about battery chemistry complications.
  • What is the weight of this battery? — At 350 grams, this battery is relatively lightweight, making it suitable for smaller RC vehicles where weight distribution matters for handling characteristics and performance.
  • How should I store this battery? — Store your NiMH battery in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. NiMH batteries are more forgiving than LiPo regarding storage conditions, but cool temperatures extend overall cell lifespan. A storage temperature between 10-25°C is ideal.
  • How many cells does this battery have? — This is a 7-cell NiMH battery, meaning it contains seven 1.2-volt cells in series, producing the nominal 8.4-volt output. The 6-1 configuration means six of these cells are arranged in parallel with one, optimising performance characteristics.
