As a crucial part of your RC vehicle's drivetrain system, the 47-tooth centre differential gear plays a vital role in power distribution and performance characteristics. If you're serious about getting the most from your RC car UK setup, understanding gearing options is essential. This genuine Traxxas part represents the quality and precision you'd expect from a leading RC manufacturer, and it's the ideal choice whether you're a weekend basher looking to optimise acceleration, or a competitive racer seeking the perfect balance between top speed and acceleration for different terrain.
Traxxas spur gears are renowned for allowing you to fine-tune the performance of your Traxxas model with precision engineering. Changing gear ratios can help you balance acceleration and top speed for different running conditions—whether you're racing on asphalt, tackling desert terrain, or exploring challenging off-road tracks. This 47-tooth variant gives you a specific performance characteristic that may suit your particular driving needs and track layout.
Key Features
- Steel Construction — Made from hardened steel for maximum power handling and exceptional durability, ensuring this centre differential gear can withstand the demands of serious RC driving without premature wear or failure.
- 32-Pitch Specification — The 32-pitch design ensures perfect compatibility with Traxxas centre differential systems, guaranteeing smooth mesh and optimal power transfer throughout your drivetrain.
- 47-Tooth Configuration — The 47-tooth count provides a specific gear ratio that affects your model's acceleration and top speed characteristics, allowing you to optimise performance for your preferred running conditions.
- Centre Differential Spur Gear — This is a genuine centre differential component, meaning it works as part of your vehicle's central differential system to distribute power effectively between axles and wheels.
- Performance Tuning Capability — By swapping this gear, you can adjust your RC vehicle's gearing to suit different track layouts, weather conditions, and driving styles without replacing your entire drivetrain.
- Genuine Traxxas Component — This is an official Traxxas part, manufactured to the same exacting standards as the vehicles they're designed for, ensuring reliability and perfect fitment.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Center Differential 47-tooth spur gear represents precision engineering at the heart of your RC car's drivetrain. Built from hardened steel rather than plastic or softer materials, this component can handle the power output from modern brushless motors without stripping, cracking, or deforming under load. The 32-pitch specification is a standard measurement in RC gearing that ensures perfect compatibility with Traxxas centre differential assemblies, including the optional centre differentials TRX10760 and TRX10760R. The 47-tooth count creates a specific gear ratio that influences your vehicle's acceleration response and maximum velocity—a higher tooth count generally provides better acceleration but slightly lower top speed, whilst a lower tooth count would favour top speed. This makes gear selection crucial for matching your RC car's performance to your driving environment. Whether you're running a brushless RC car on high-performance 3S or 4S LiPo batteries, or using a more modest power setup, the robust steel construction of this spur gear ensures it will transmit power reliably without the wear and degradation that softer materials experience. The precise manufacturing tolerances ensure smooth meshing with mating gears, reducing noise and vibration whilst maximising efficiency of power delivery.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a centre differential spur gear and why do I need one? — The centre differential spur gear is a critical drivetrain component that helps distribute power between your RC vehicle's front and rear axles. It works within your centre differential assembly to ensure smooth power delivery and improved traction. If your current gear is damaged, worn, or you want to adjust your vehicle's performance characteristics, replacing or upgrading to a different tooth count allows you to fine-tune acceleration and top speed to match your driving style and track conditions.
- What models is this 47-tooth centre differential gear compatible with? — This TRX8573 gear is specifically designed for Traxxas models using the TRX10760 or TRX10760R centre differential assemblies. The primary applications listed are the Traxxas UDR Unlimited Desert Racer with either Rigid Industries or Fox Racing suspension setups. However, it may be compatible with other Traxxas vehicles using compatible centre differential housings—consult your model's owner's manual or Traxxas technical support to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle.
- How does changing from a different tooth count to 47 teeth affect my RC car's performance? — Gear ratio changes directly affect your RC vehicle's performance balance. The 47-tooth configuration provides a mid-range ratio suitable for many running conditions. A higher tooth count (more teeth) generally improves acceleration response and climbing ability but reduces top speed slightly, making it ideal for technical terrain, tight courses, or when maximum torque is needed. Lower tooth counts favour top speed but can feel sluggish off the line. Test different ratios to discover which suits your preferred driving style and track layout best.
- What makes the steel construction important? — Unlike plastic or nylon gears, hardened steel construction provides superior strength, durability, and power handling capability. Steel gears can withstand the high torque loads from modern brushless motors without stripping, cracking, or wearing prematurely. This means longer intervals between maintenance, better reliability during competitive racing, and more consistent performance throughout the gear's lifespan, making it an investment in durability for serious RC enthusiasts.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a spare drivetrain component rather than a complete ready-to-run RC car, so it's most suitable for experienced RC modellers who are comfortable working on their vehicles and understand gearing concepts. If you're new to RC cars and already own a Traxxas model, you may want to consult your owner's manual or contact experienced RC community members before attempting gear changes. However, it's a straightforward swap once you're familiar with your vehicle's drivetrain.
- What is the difference between the 47-tooth and other tooth count options? — Different tooth counts create different gear ratios that affect performance. The 47-tooth option sits in the mid-range; lower tooth counts (such as 45 teeth) increase top speed but reduce acceleration, whilst higher tooth counts improve acceleration and low-end torque but cap top speed. Your choice depends on your track layout and driving priorities—tight technical courses may benefit from higher tooth counts for better acceleration, whilst high-speed open courses might favour lower tooth counts.
- Do I need the optional centre differential housings? — Yes, this spur gear is specifically designed to work with Traxxas centre differential assemblies TRX10760 or TRX10760R. You cannot use this gear as a standalone component; it must be installed within one of these compatible centre differential housings as part of your RC vehicle's complete drivetrain assembly.
