Overview
The Traxxas Spring, shock, Front (natural finish) (GTR) (progressive, 0.833 rate, White stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8444 represents a premium suspension upgrade for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand responsive, tuned performance from their GTR shock-equipped vehicles. These professionally engineered progressive-rate springs are custom-wound to deliver the perfect balance between sensitivity and durability, making them an essential upgrade for both competitive racers and weekend bashers looking to optimise their RC car's handling characteristics. Whether you're competing in organised RC racing events or simply enjoying recreational driving, these front springs provide the suspension tuning capability needed to adapt your vehicle to different track conditions and driving styles.
Progressive-rate suspension springs represent the cutting edge of RC suspension technology, and Traxxas has perfected this design for use with their GTR shock systems. The progressive nature of these springs means they start with a softer initial rate to absorb small bumps and provide responsive control over minor track imperfections, then progressively stiffen as the suspension compresses further to handle harder impacts and aggressive driving. This dual-purpose design is particularly valuable for UK RC enthusiasts who encounter varied terrain, from smooth indoor carpet tracks to outdoor grass and dirt courses with unpredictable surfaces. The natural finish aesthetic combined with the distinctive white stripe makes these springs instantly recognisable as genuine Traxxas components, whilst their technical excellence ensures they'll perform reliably lap after lap.
Available in pairs and designed specifically for 139 mm GTR shock assemblies, these springs allow drivers to fine-tune their suspension setup without replacing entire shock units. The ability to adjust spring rates is a cornerstone of competitive RC racing, and having multiple spring options in your toolbox means you can compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, varying weather conditions, and different track layouts. Whether you're upgrading a brand-new ready to run RC car or maintaining an existing competition machine, these GTR progressive springs deliver the performance enhancement that serious RC drivers depend on.
Key Features
- Progressive-Rate Design — These springs feature a progressive rate that begins soft for responsive bump absorption and gradually stiffens under compression, providing superior control across a wider range of driving conditions and impact scenarios compared to linear-rate springs.
- 0.833 Spring Rate — The specific 0.833 rate classification offers a carefully calibrated balance between compliance and support, making these springs ideal for drivers seeking moderate suspension firmness for general racing and bashing applications.
- 139 mm GTR Compatibility — Engineered specifically for Traxxas 139 mm GTR shock absorbers, these springs ensure perfect fit and optimal performance without modification or adaptation, guaranteeing reliable operation and consistent handling.
- Custom-Wound Construction — Each spring is custom-wound to exacting specifications using premium materials, ensuring consistent performance, durability, and reliability throughout the lifespan of the component.
- Natural Finish — The natural finish coating protects against corrosion whilst maintaining a professional appearance, and the material choice ensures compatibility with all standard RC oils and fluids used in shock absorbers.
- White Stripe Identification — The distinctive white stripe provides instant visual identification of the spring rate, making it easy to distinguish these 0.833-rate springs from other progressive-rate options in your spares collection.
- Sold in Pairs — Each package includes two identical springs, providing a matched set for your front suspension and ensuring balanced handling and predictable vehicle behaviour.
- Suspension Tuning Flexibility — By offering springs in different rates, Traxxas enables drivers to tune their suspension performance or compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations without expensive shock replacements.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTR progressive springs represent a significant advancement in RC suspension technology, delivering engineering excellence that translates directly into improved on-track performance. The progressive-rate design is particularly sophisticated, utilising a variable spring constant that provides initial softness for absorbing small track imperfections whilst progressively increasing stiffness to manage larger impacts and aggressive cornering loads. This engineering approach creates a suspension system that feels planted and responsive rather than harsh or unpredictable. The 0.833 spring rate sits in the middle of the Traxxas spring rate spectrum, making it suitable for a wide variety of driving styles and track conditions—neither too soft for aggressive racing nor too stiff for recreational bashing. The 139 mm length is the standard specification for modern GTR shock systems, ensuring these springs work seamlessly with current Traxxas vehicles and suspension kits. Built from premium spring steel and individually wound to specification, these components deliver consistent performance lap after lap, maintaining their spring characteristics even after extended use. The natural finish provides corrosion protection in the UK's variable weather conditions, whilst the white stripe makes rate identification simple and foolproof. For drivers who take their RC car performance seriously, having access to quality suspension components like these GTR springs is essential for achieving the precise handling characteristics needed for competitive racing or optimising comfort during recreational driving sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicles are these GTR springs compatible with? — These springs are designed specifically for Traxxas vehicles equipped with 139 mm GTR shock absorbers. Check your vehicle's shock specification to confirm compatibility before ordering.
- What does the progressive-rate design mean? — Progressive-rate springs start soft to absorb small bumps smoothly, then gradually stiffen as the suspension compresses further, providing better overall control across varied driving conditions compared to springs with a constant rate throughout.
- How do I know which spring rate I need? — The spring rate you choose depends on your driving style, vehicle weight, and track conditions. Lower rates (softer) suit lighter vehicles and bumpy tracks, whilst higher rates (firmer) suit heavier vehicles and smooth surfaces. The 0.833 rate is a popular middle-ground option.
- Are these springs suitable for both racing and casual bashing? — Yes, the 0.833 progressive rate is versatile enough for both competitive racing and recreational driving, making these springs an excellent all-purpose suspension upgrade for UK RC enthusiasts.
- How long do these springs typically last? — Quality Traxxas springs like these are built to last for hundreds of hours of use when properly maintained. Spring fatigue is gradual, so if you notice your suspension feeling less responsive after extended use, replacement springs will restore the original feel.
- What's the difference between progressive-rate and linear-rate springs? — Progressive springs vary in stiffness across their compression range, whilst linear springs maintain constant stiffness throughout. Progressive designs typically offer better bump absorption and handling across varying conditions.
- Why do these springs have a white stripe? — The white stripe is Traxxas's colour-coding system for identifying spring rates at a glance, making it easy to select the correct springs for your application and avoid mixing different rates.
- Can I use these with other shock brands? — No, these springs are specifically engineered for Traxxas 139 mm GTR shocks. Using them with other shock systems may result in poor fitment, inconsistent performance, or potential damage to the suspension components.
