Overview
The Traxxas Spring, shock, 139mm (natural finish) (GTR) (progressive, 0.937 rate, Orange stripe) (2 pcs) TRX8443 represents a premium suspension upgrade for demanding RC car UK enthusiasts who want to fine-tune their vehicle's handling characteristics. These progressive-rate springs are custom-wound by Traxxas to deliver exceptional control across a wide range of driving conditions, making them an essential component for anyone serious about maximising their RC car's performance. Whether you're a competitive racer looking for that extra edge or a weekend basher wanting responsive handling on mixed terrain, these GTR springs offer the sophisticated suspension tuning that separates amateur setups from truly competitive builds.
GTR springs have become the go-to choice for RC drivers who demand versatility in their suspension geometry. The 139mm length fits Traxxas GTR-compatible shock systems, and the progressive-rate design is engineered to respond intelligently to different impact forces. This means you get responsive control when navigating small bumps and technical sections, whilst simultaneously benefiting from a progressively stiffer rate that absorbs and manages harder impacts without bottoming out. For UK RC car enthusiasts building ready to run RC setups or upgrading existing vehicles, understanding suspension tuning through spring rate selection is crucial to unlocking your model's full potential.
The 0.937 rate specification with orange stripe identification provides a specific spring stiffness that suits particular vehicle weights and driving styles. Traxxas offers GTR springs in different rates precisely so you can tune your suspension performance, compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, and optimise your RC car's handling balance. The higher the spring rate, the firmer the spring response, allowing experienced drivers to dial in exactly the right suspension feel for their chosen track or terrain.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas Spring, shock, 139mm GTR represents the pinnacle of suspension engineering for serious RC car enthusiasts. Built with precision spring steel and custom-wound to the exacting 0.937 rate specification, these components deliver predictable, tunable performance that separates competitive setups from casual builds. The progressive-rate design is a sophisticated engineering solution that addresses one of the fundamental challenges in RC suspension tuning: the need for both sensitivity and durability. Traditional linear springs compromise between these two needs, but progressive springs solve this elegantly by starting soft for small bumps, then increasing in stiffness as compression increases, matching the real-world force curve of impacts. This engineering approach ensures that your RC car handles technical terrain with precision whilst remaining composed during aggressive driving. The 139mm length is specifically engineered for GTR shock systems, and the natural finish provides excellent corrosion resistance essential for maintaining performance in the UK's damp climate. Spring rate is measured in pounds per inch (lb/in), and the 0.937 rate sits in the medium range of Traxxas's GTR spring offerings, making it suitable for a wide variety of vehicle weights and driving styles. The orange stripe provides foolproof identification, critical when managing multiple spring rates across different setups. Whether you're running a competitive RC buggy, stadium truck, or off-road racer, these springs will provide the responsive, consistent suspension behaviour that translates directly to better lap times and more enjoyable driving experiences. The engineering quality is consistent with Traxxas's reputation for producing components that perform reliably in both competitive and recreational environments.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a progressive spring rate and why should I care? — Progressive springs are custom-wound to start soft, providing responsive control over small bumps, then progressively stiffen as they compress to absorb harder impacts. This dual behaviour delivers superior handling compared to traditional linear springs, particularly on technical terrain where you encounter both small and large obstacles in quick succession. The 0.937 rate on these GTR springs is calibrated to deliver this progressive response across a wide range of driving conditions.
- How do I know which spring rate is right for my RC car? — Traxxas offers GTR springs in different rates specifically so you can tune your suspension performance based on your vehicle weight, driving style, and track conditions. The higher the spring rate, the firmer the spring. The 0.937 rate is a medium specification suitable for many standard vehicle configurations. If your car feels too soft and bouncy, you need a stiffer rate. If it feels too hard and doesn't absorb bumps well, you need a softer rate. Start with your vehicle's factory recommendation, then adjust based on handling feel.
- Are these springs compatible with all Traxxas models? — These 139mm GTR springs are specifically designed for Traxxas GTR shock systems. Before purchasing, confirm your vehicle uses GTR shocks. The GTR shock system is used across several Traxxas model lines, but not all models, so verify compatibility with your specific vehicle before ordering.
- Why do springs come in pairs? — These springs are sold in pairs because RC vehicles typically require either a front or rear suspension upgrade. Two springs allow you to upgrade one axle with matched components, ensuring balanced suspension behaviour across both sides of your vehicle. For a complete suspension upgrade, you may need to purchase multiple pairs.
- What does the orange stripe mean? — The orange stripe is Traxxas's colour-coding system for identifying spring rates. This visual identification system prevents setup errors and confusion when managing multiple spring rates across different RC car setups. The orange stripe specifically indicates the 0.937 rate specification.
- How do I install these springs? — Spring installation requires removing your shock absorber from the vehicle, compressing the shock body to remove the old spring, installing the new spring, and reassembling. Most RC enthusiasts use a shock spring compressor tool to safely manage the significant spring force. If you're unfamiliar with shock service, consult your vehicle's manual or seek guidance from experienced RC hobbyists.
- Will these springs improve my lap times? — Proper suspension tuning through spring rate selection can absolutely improve lap times by providing more consistent handling, better bump absorption, and improved traction. The responsive progressive design of these springs helps your vehicle maintain better contact with the track surface, particularly on technical sections with varied terrain.
- What is the difference between these springs and standard springs? — These GTR springs feature progressive-rate engineering custom-wound by Traxxas, compared to standard springs which typically use linear rates. Progressive springs deliver superior handling characteristics across varied terrain, making them the preferred choice for competitive RC drivers. The custom-wound engineering ensures consistent performance across all units.
