Overview
The Traxxas Servo Saver Spring (TRX8344X) is an essential replacement component for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and precision steering. This heavy-duty servo saver spring is specifically engineered to work seamlessly with the Traxxas 5344 steering assembly, providing the perfect balance between responsive steering control and crucial impact protection for your metal-gear servo. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your RC car setup, a weekend basher looking to protect your investment, or an experienced hobbyist maintaining your fleet of RC vehicles, this servo saver spring is a must-have spare part that will extend the lifespan of your steering servo.
Steering servos are among the most critical components in any RC car, yet they're also highly vulnerable to damage from impacts, crashes, and excessive steering loads. The servo saver mechanism acts as a shock absorber between your steering servo and the wheels, sacrificing itself to absorb impacts that would otherwise destroy your expensive servo. The Traxxas heavy-duty servo saver spring is manufactured to OEM specifications and delivers exceptional durability when paired with metal-gear servos, ensuring your steering remains responsive and precise even after countless hours of high-performance RC driving. For anyone running a Traxxas RC car in the UK market, having quality servo saver springs in your spares box is simply good sense.
This replacement spring is compatible with the 5344 steering assembly found on numerous Traxxas models, making it a versatile addition to your RC toolkit. By maintaining your servo saver in good working order with quality replacement springs like this one, you're investing in the long-term reliability of your RC car and protecting yourself from costly servo replacements down the line.
Key Features
- Heavy-Duty Construction — This servo saver spring is built to withstand the rigours of RC driving, whether on-road or off-road, and is specifically designed to work with metal-gear servos that demand more robust protection than standard springs can provide.
- Compatible with 5344 Steering Assembly — This spring is precisely engineered to integrate seamlessly with the Traxxas 5344 steering assembly, ensuring perfect fit and optimal performance without modifications or adjustments needed.
- Impact Protection — The primary function of this servo saver spring is to protect your steering servo against impacts and crashes, absorbing shock loads that would otherwise cause permanent damage to your servo electronics and mechanics.
- Crisp Steering Response — Despite providing impact protection, this heavy-duty spring maintains crisp and responsive steering feedback, allowing you to maintain precise control of your RC car during racing or recreational driving.
- Genuine Traxxas Part — As an official Traxxas component, you can be confident this spring meets all manufacturer specifications and quality standards, ensuring compatibility and reliability with your RC car.
- Affordable Maintenance — Servo saver springs are consumable parts that wear over time, and having affordable replacement springs available means you can maintain your steering assembly economically without replacing entire servo units.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Servo Saver Spring TRX8344X is engineered with the same precision and quality standards that Traxxas applies across their entire product range. This heavy-duty spring is specifically rated for use with metal-gear servos, which typically produce higher torque outputs than standard plastic-gear servos and therefore require more robust protection mechanisms. The spring's engineering allows it to compress and expand smoothly when impacts occur, dissipating energy gradually rather than transmitting it directly to your servo, which would cause binding or mechanical failure. When properly installed in the 5344 steering assembly, this spring maintains the delicate balance between steering sensitivity and impact absorption—a critical engineering challenge that Traxxas has solved through years of RC racing experience. The spring material is selected to resist corrosion and maintain its properties across extended temperature ranges, ensuring consistent performance whether you're driving in summer sunshine or winter conditions across the UK. Regular inspection and replacement of servo saver springs as part of routine maintenance will keep your Traxxas RC car steering system in peak condition for years of reliable performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a servo saver and why do I need one? — A servo saver is a mechanical component that protects your steering servo from damage caused by impacts and crashes. It works by absorbing shock loads before they reach your servo, acting as a sacrificial buffer. This is especially important for RC enthusiasts in the UK who drive on varied terrain where crashes are inevitable. Without a properly functioning servo saver, even minor impacts can damage your servo's internal gears and electronics, leading to expensive replacements.
- Is this servo saver spring suitable for my Traxxas RC car? — This heavy-duty servo saver spring is designed specifically for use with the Traxxas 5344 steering assembly. If your Traxxas RC car uses this steering assembly, then this spring is the correct replacement part. Check your vehicle's manual or contact our team at RC Model Shop if you're unsure which steering assembly your model uses.
- How often should I replace the servo saver spring? — The frequency of replacement depends on how intensively you drive your RC car and the terrain you drive on. Aggressive off-road bashing or competitive racing will wear the spring faster than casual on-road driving. We recommend inspecting your servo saver springs regularly and replacing them when you notice reduced steering responsiveness or visible wear. Having spare springs on hand ensures you're never caught without a critical spare part.
- What's the difference between this heavy-duty version and standard servo saver springs? — This heavy-duty servo saver spring is engineered specifically for metal-gear servos, which typically produce higher torque outputs than plastic-gear servos. The heavier-duty spring rate provides better protection under these higher loads whilst maintaining the crisp steering response that competitive RC drivers demand. If you're running a quality metal-gear servo in your Traxxas RC car, this heavy-duty spring is the correct choice.
- Can I fit this servo saver spring myself? — Yes, servo saver spring replacement is a straightforward maintenance task that most RC enthusiasts can perform themselves with basic tools. However, if you're unfamiliar with your vehicle's steering assembly, we recommend consulting your Traxxas manual or visiting our store in Walsall where our experienced team can assist you.
