Overview
The Traxxas Body, GTX shock, medium (aluminium, orange-anodised) is a premium suspension component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the highest level of performance and durability from their RC cars. This replacement shock body is engineered specifically for Traxxas XRT models, delivering the smooth, responsive damping characteristics that have made Traxxas a trusted name in RC motorsport across the UK and worldwide. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or dedicated hobbyist, this GTX shock body offers the advanced engineering and build quality you expect from Traxxas.
Built from hard-anodised aluminium and featuring a PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) coating, this medium-length shock body represents the pinnacle of damping technology. The PTFE coating creates an ultra-smooth surface that reduces friction and ensures consistent performance across all driving conditions, from smooth tarmac to rough terrain. If you're looking to upgrade or replace a worn shock body on your Traxxas XRT, this genuine Traxxas component is the perfect choice for maintaining your RC car's performance and handling characteristics.
RC enthusiasts across the UK have come to rely on Traxxas components for their outstanding build quality, precision engineering, and long-lasting durability. This GTX shock body is no exception—it's a genuine Traxxas part that delivers professional-grade suspension performance, making it an essential upgrade or replacement for XRT owners who refuse to compromise on quality.
Key Features
- Hard-Anodised Aluminium Construction — The shock body is manufactured from premium aluminium and hard-anodised to create an extremely durable, corrosion-resistant surface that withstands the demands of regular RC car use and diverse UK weather conditions without degradation.
- PTFE-Coated Surface — The innovative PTFE (Teflon-like) coating reduces internal friction to an absolute minimum, enabling ultra-smooth damping performance that translates directly into better handling precision, more consistent suspension response, and superior overall vehicle control during aggressive driving.
- Medium Length Design — Specifically engineered as a medium-length shock body, this component provides the optimal balance between suspension travel and ride height for XRT models, delivering performance that's been proven and refined through countless hours of development and real-world testing.
- Orange-Anodised Finish — The vibrant orange anodised colour not only looks fantastic but also provides additional colour-matching options for builders who want their RC car's suspension components to complement their vehicle's overall colour scheme and aesthetic.
- Single Unit Quantity — Each package contains one GTX shock body, allowing you to replace a single shock or gradually upgrade your entire suspension system at your own pace without unnecessary bulk purchasing.
- Genuine Traxxas Component — As an authentic Traxxas part, this shock body is engineered to exact OEM specifications and delivers the same level of quality and performance that professional RC competitors and enthusiasts have trusted for decades.
- Compatibility with XRT Models — This shock body is specifically designed as an accessory part for the complete range of Traxxas XRT vehicles, including the XRT VXL-8S and XRT Ultimate models in all available colours, ensuring perfect fitment and performance.
Technical Performance
This GTX shock body exemplifies Traxxas's commitment to precision engineering and material science. The hard-anodised aluminium construction provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, ensuring the shock body can withstand the extreme forces generated during high-speed driving, jumping, and aggressive cornering without deformation or failure. The hard-anodising process chemically hardens the aluminium surface to create a protective layer that's significantly more durable than standard anodising, dramatically extending the component's service life and resistance to wear. The PTFE coating applied over the hard-anodised surface is the real performance differentiator—PTFE is renowned in engineering circles for its extremely low coefficient of friction, which means the damping rod moves through the shock body with minimal resistance. This translates to damping curves that remain true and consistent lap after lap, run after run, with none of the performance degradation that can occur with uncoated or inadequately coated shock bodies. The medium length design has been meticulously calibrated to work in harmony with the XRT's suspension geometry, ensuring predictable handling characteristics, optimal suspension travel, and consistent ride height across all driving conditions. Whether you're running your XRT on the track, off-road terrain, or mixed surfaces typical of UK RC racing venues, this shock body delivers the performance-grade engineering that separates genuine Traxxas components from inferior alternatives.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What makes the PTFE coating on this shock body so important? — PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is an ultra-low friction material that creates an exceptionally smooth surface inside the shock body. This coating allows the damping rod to move with minimal resistance, which means your suspension operates exactly as the engineers intended—without friction-induced inconsistencies that can throw off handling and responsiveness. Over time and through many driving sessions, PTFE-coated shocks maintain their performance characteristics far better than uncoated alternatives.
- Is this a genuine Traxxas part? — Yes, this is an authentic Traxxas component designed and engineered to OEM specifications. When you purchase this shock body, you're getting the exact same quality and performance that Traxxas delivers in its complete vehicles and professional racing platforms.
- Which RC cars does this shock body fit? — This medium-length GTX shock body is specifically designed for Traxxas XRT models, including the XRT VXL-8S (available in green, black, blue, and orange) and the XRT Ultimate (available in blue and green). It's a direct replacement part that provides perfect fitment and suspension geometry compatibility.
- Why would I need to replace my stock shock body? — Over time and through regular use, shock bodies can develop internal wear, seal degradation, or minor damage that affects damping performance. Replacing with a genuine Traxxas GTX shock body ensures you restore your XRT to factory performance specifications and enjoy the benefits of the latest engineering advancements Traxxas has incorporated into the GTX line.
- How does the hard-anodising improve durability? — Hard-anodising is an electrochemical process that creates a thicker, harder protective layer on the aluminium surface compared to standard anodising. This makes the shock body significantly more resistant to corrosion, scratches, and wear—critical for RC cars that experience repeated impacts, terrain contact, and exposure to moisture in the UK climate.
- Will this shock body improve my handling? — Installing a fresh GTX shock body (particularly if you're replacing a worn component) will restore your suspension to optimal performance characteristics. The consistent damping characteristics and reduced internal friction of the PTFE-coated design ensure your XRT's handling is responsive, predictable, and competitive-grade in every driving scenario.
