Overview
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs (Natural Finish) (GTX) 2.899 Rate Orange Stripe (2) TRX7865 are precision-engineered suspension components designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the ultimate in performance tuning. These genuine Traxxas GTX shock springs are specifically engineered to optimise the suspension characteristics of the XRT range, allowing you to fine-tune your RC truck's handling dynamics with professional-grade precision. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to extract maximum performance from your RC car, a weekend basher wanting to improve ride quality, or an experienced hobbyist seeking to compensate for different vehicle configurations, these shock springs deliver the quality and reliability that Traxxas is renowned for throughout the RC community in the UK and beyond.
Shock springs are one of the most fundamental tuning elements in any serious RC vehicle setup. The spring rate directly determines how your suspension responds to impacts, bumps, and terrain changes, making it essential to have the right stiffness for your driving style and conditions. The natural finish construction ensures durability whilst maintaining the lightweight characteristics necessary for optimal performance. These are genuine Traxxas components that meet the exacting standards expected by professional and semi-professional RC drivers across the UK and Europe. As a precision suspension upgrade, these springs represent the kind of detailed tuning that separates competitive setups from standard builds.
The 2.899 rate specification with orange stripe colour coding makes identification and specification matching quick and easy, ensuring you always have the correct springs for your model. Available as a pair, these springs provide the complete suspension upgrade needed for one full vehicle setup. For anyone serious about getting the most from their Traxxas XRT, these medium-rate GTX shock springs are an essential tuning component that belongs in every serious RC enthusiast's toolkit.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs represent precision engineering in suspension design. The 2.899 spring rate sits in the sweet spot for most driving scenarios, offering sufficient firmness to maintain control and stability during aggressive driving whilst retaining enough compliance to absorb impacts effectively. The higher the spring rate number, the firmer the spring becomes—this means that the 2.899 rate is classified as medium, providing a versatile balance that works well for bashers, casual racers, and experienced drivers alike. The natural finish materials used in these springs are selected for their durability and resistance to wear, ensuring that your suspension maintains consistent performance across extended driving sessions. These springs are engineered to work seamlessly with the XRT's suspension geometry, which means they integrate perfectly with the vehicle's existing dampers, anti-roll bars, and suspension arms. The springs are designed to be swapped easily, allowing you to experiment with different rates to find the exact tuning that suits your driving style, local terrain conditions, and vehicle configuration. For drivers in the UK considering multiple spring rate options, having the correct medium-rate springs ensures you're working from a proven, reliable baseline that professional Traxxas drivers rely upon.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 2.899 spring rate actually mean for my RC truck? — The spring rate number indicates the stiffness of the spring—how much force is required to compress it by a specific distance. A 2.899 rate is classified as medium stiffness, making it suitable for general-purpose RC driving including bashing, casual racing, and mixed terrain use. Higher numbers mean stiffer (firmer) springs for more aggressive driving or heavier vehicles, whilst lower numbers provide softer springs for smoother rides and lighter vehicles. The medium 2.899 rate is the versatile choice for most UK RC drivers.
- Will these springs fit my Traxxas RC vehicle? — These springs are specifically designed for the Traxxas XRT platform, including the XRT VXL-8S and XRT Ultimate models in all colour variants. If you own one of these models, these springs will fit perfectly. For other Traxxas vehicles, you'll need to verify compatibility with your specific model before ordering.
- What's the difference between spring rates and why would I change them? — Different spring rates allow you to tune your vehicle's suspension to suit your needs. Stiffer springs (higher rate numbers) give firmer, more responsive handling but can feel harsh on rough terrain. Softer springs (lower rate numbers) provide smoother, more compliant riding but less precise handling. By having medium-rate springs as your baseline, you can experiment with other rates to dial in the exact feel you prefer for your particular driving style and local terrain.
- Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, these are genuine Traxxas components manufactured to the same standards used in professional RC racing. The model number TRX7865 is the official Traxxas designation, and these parts come directly from Traxxas quality control, ensuring you get authentic, reliable suspension components that will perform exactly as designed.
- How often will I need to replace shock springs? — Well-maintained Traxxas GTX shock springs are durable components that will last through many driving seasons with normal use. Regular maintenance and inspection for signs of permanent deformation or damage will help you determine if replacement is needed. Most serious RC drivers keep spare springs on hand as part of their toolkit for quick suspension adjustments and testing.
- Can I mix different spring rates on the same vehicle? — Technically yes, and some drivers use different rates on front and rear axles to fine-tune handling characteristics. However, for most UK RC drivers, using matching rates front and rear is the recommended starting point. Once you understand how your vehicle responds, you can experiment with mismatched rates for advanced tuning.
