These medium-length GTX™ shock springs represent Traxxas's commitment to providing genuine, manufacturer-approved parts that allow you to customise your RC car's suspension performance to match your specific driving style, track conditions, and vehicle weight configuration. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your setup, a weekend basher optimising for rough terrain, or an RC car UK enthusiast looking to improve handling characteristics, these shock springs deliver the engineering excellence that Traxxas is renowned for across the globe.
GTX™ shock springs are a cornerstone of advanced suspension tuning for high-performance RC vehicles. The Traxxas XRT platform, which these springs are designed for, demands precision components that can handle extreme performance demands whilst maintaining consistent response and durability through countless runs. These medium-rate springs come as a pair, offering excellent value and ensuring you have matching components for balanced suspension geometry. The natural finish construction provides a professional appearance whilst maintaining the structural integrity needed for competitive and recreational use alike.
If you're running a Traxxas XRT VXL-8S or XRT Ultimate model in any colour variant—whether blue, orange, green, or black—these springs are an essential tuning accessory. They allow you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, adjust your suspension stiffness across different track types, and achieve the precise handling balance that separates a good run from a great one. At RC Model Shop, we stock genuine Traxxas parts to ensure your RC car UK setup remains at peak performance.
Key Features
- GTX™ Shock Spring Technology — These springs utilise Traxxas's proven GTX™ shock spring design, which provides consistent damping characteristics and reliable performance across a wide range of driving conditions and temperatures, ensuring your suspension response remains predictable whether you're racing on a smooth track or bashing through rough terrain.
- 5.059 Spring Rate with Red Stripe Identification — The 5.059-rate specification represents a medium spring stiffness that balances responsiveness with comfort, whilst the red stripe colour coding makes quick identification easy during pit stops or when managing multiple spring sets for different track conditions.
- Natural Finish Construction — The natural finish provides a durable, professional appearance whilst maintaining maximum strength and longevity, and the unpainted surface resists corrosion and degradation from moisture and dirt exposure during outdoor RC car UK sessions.
- Supplied as a Pair — This package includes two springs, ensuring you have matching front and rear components or the ability to set up paired dampers with identical characteristics, which is essential for balanced suspension geometry and predictable handling behaviour.
- Precision Engineering for XRT Models — These springs are specifically engineered for the Traxxas XRT platform, including the XRT VXL-8S and XRT Ultimate models, guaranteeing perfect fitment and performance integration with your vehicle's suspension system.
- Advanced Tuning Capability — The higher the spring rate number, the firmer the spring becomes; this 5.059-rate option allows you to dial in suspension stiffness to compensate for vehicle weight variations, adjust for different payload configurations, or fine-tune handling balance for specific track characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX7850 shock springs represent the pinnacle of suspension component engineering, utilising premium materials and manufacturing processes that ensure consistency, durability, and predictable performance across thousands of operating cycles. The 5.059 spring rate provides a medium stiffness that works exceptionally well across diverse RC car UK applications, from competitive racing where precision suspension setup is critical, to recreational bashing where durability under extreme loads remains paramount. The GTX™ shock spring technology ensures that the springs maintain their rate consistency even under high-load impacts and repeated compression cycles, which is essential for maintaining predictable vehicle behaviour run after run. The natural finish construction provides complete protection against corrosion whilst maintaining the material's structural properties, ensuring the springs retain their rate accuracy and longevity throughout their operational life. Each spring is manufactured to exacting Traxxas specifications, guaranteeing that both springs in this pair have identical rate characteristics, which is crucial for achieving balanced suspension geometry. These springs are specifically engineered for compatibility with the Traxxas XRT platform, including models such as the TRX78086-4-BLUE Traxxas XRT VXL-8S in Blue, TRX78086-4-ORNG Traxxas XRT VXL-8S in Orange, TRX78097-4-GRNX Traxxas XRT Ultimate in Green X, TRX78086-4-GRN Traxxas XRT VXL-8S in Green, TRX78086-4-BLK Traxxas XRT VXL-8S in Black, and TRX78097-4-BLUEX Traxxas XRT Ultimate in Blue X, guaranteeing perfect fitment and optimal performance integration with your vehicle's existing suspension architecture.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 5.059 spring rate mean and how does it affect my RC car's performance? — The spring rate is a numerical measurement of how stiff the spring is; higher numbers indicate stiffer springs. The 5.059 rate in this set represents a medium stiffness that provides a balanced combination of responsive handling and ride comfort. This rate is ideal for general-purpose RC car UK use, allowing your suspension to absorb impacts effectively whilst maintaining control during high-speed runs. If you find your vehicle bottoming out (compressing fully) too easily, you'd want a stiffer spring; conversely, if the suspension feels too harsh, you'd choose a softer rate.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — These springs are not specifically designed as beginner-level components; rather, they are precision tuning parts for someone who already owns a compatible Traxxas XRT model and understands the basics of suspension setup. Beginners would typically start with the springs that come stock with their RC car, and progress to these aftermarket options as they develop their tuning knowledge. However, if you're an intermediate user looking to fine-tune your XRT's performance, these springs are an excellent entry point into advanced suspension customisation.
- Which Traxxas models are these springs compatible with? — The TRX7850 springs are designed for the Traxxas XRT platform, which includes the XRT VXL-8S models (available in blue, orange, green, and black colour variants) and the XRT Ultimate models (available in Green X and Blue X variants). Before purchasing, verify that your specific model is listed in the compatibility section to ensure perfect fitment and performance.
- Why would I need different spring rates? — Different spring rates allow you to customise your suspension for specific conditions and configurations. A lighter vehicle or one with reduced payload might benefit from softer springs to prevent the suspension from going too firm, whilst a heavier vehicle or one carrying additional weight would benefit from stiffer springs to maintain proper ride height and prevent bottoming out. Additionally, different track surfaces may require different rates; smooth, fast tracks might benefit from stiffer springs for precision handling, whilst rough, bumpy terrain might benefit from softer springs for improved traction and comfort.
- How do I identify what spring rate my vehicle currently has? — Traxxas spring rates are typically colour-coded with a stripe; the red stripe on these TRX7850 springs indicates the 5.059 rate. Examining the colour stripe on your current springs will tell you what rate is installed. This colour-coding system makes it easy to manage multiple sets of springs for different setups and conditions.
- What is the difference between GTX™ shock springs and standard springs? — GTX™ shock springs represent Traxxas's advanced engineering approach to suspension components, offering enhanced consistency, durability, and performance across a wider temperature and load range compared to standard springs. GTX™ springs maintain their rate characteristics more reliably under extreme conditions, making them the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts who demand the highest level of performance and reliability from their setups.
