Overview
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs (Natural Finish) (GTX) 4.594 Rate (Blue Stripe) (2) TRX7848 are precision-engineered suspension components designed to fine-tune your XRT's performance and handling characteristics. Whether you're a competitive RC racer in the UK or a weekend basher looking to optimise your vehicle's setup, these Traxxas shock springs offer the flexibility to adapt your suspension to different track conditions, driving styles, and vehicle weight configurations. As an essential tune-up option for Traxxas XRT models, these springs represent genuine OEM parts manufactured to the exacting standards Traxxas is recognised for worldwide.
Medium-length GTX shock springs are offered in multiple rates to allow you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations and to tune your XRT's overall suspension performance. The 4.594-rate blue stripe designation indicates a medium spring stiffness, making these springs ideal for drivers seeking a balanced setup that works well across varying terrain and driving conditions. By adjusting your shock spring rate, you can dramatically influence how your RC car's suspension responds to bumps, corners, and acceleration, which directly impacts traction, stability, and overall handling feel. These springs are supplied as a pair, so you'll have everything you need for a complete front or rear suspension refresh on your XRT.
Traxxas springs are trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK and beyond because they deliver consistent performance, excellent durability, and precise spring rates that match their specifications exactly. The natural finish coating protects the steel while maintaining the traditional appearance that serious RC competitors prefer. If you own a Traxxas XRT VXL-8S or XRT Ultimate, these medium shock springs should be in your spares box as a critical tune-up component for maintaining peak performance throughout the racing season.
Key Features
- GTX Technology Spring Design — These springs utilise Traxxas's proven GTX shock spring technology, engineered to provide consistent damping rates and reliable performance across thousands of suspension cycles, ensuring your suspension remains predictable lap after lap.
- 4.594 Spring Rate (Medium Stiffness) — The specific spring rate of 4.594 (indicated by the blue stripe colour coding) provides a medium level of stiffness that balances comfort and performance, making it suitable for a wide range of driving conditions and helping you achieve optimal suspension geometry during cornering.
- Natural Finish Protective Coating — The natural finish provides essential corrosion protection whilst maintaining a clean, professional appearance that appeals to serious RC competitors and collectors who appreciate authentic Traxxas components.
- Blue Stripe Identification — The blue stripe colour coding makes it immediately obvious which spring rate you're installing, preventing confusion when switching between multiple spring sets for different track conditions or vehicle weight classes.
- Pair of Two Springs — You receive two springs in this package, allowing you to replace both springs on one axle or complete a full front or rear suspension refresh depending on your tuning strategy.
- Precision Manufacturing — Traxxas manufactures these springs to exacting tolerances, ensuring each spring matches its rated stiffness perfectly so your suspension performs predictably and symmetrically.
- Medium Length Profile — The medium length design is specifically engineered for XRT models, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with the vehicle's suspension geometry and shock absorber mounting points.
- OEM Traxxas Quality — As genuine Traxxas original equipment manufacturer parts, these springs meet all factory specifications and standards, giving you confidence that you're installing authentic components designed by the engineers who created your RC vehicle.
Technical Performance
These Traxxas shock springs are manufactured from high-quality tempered steel selected for its consistent elasticity and fatigue resistance, allowing the springs to maintain their rated stiffness through hundreds of hours of RC driving without degrading or losing their spring characteristics. The 4.594 spring rate places these springs firmly in the medium category, making them an excellent baseline choice for drivers who haven't yet dialled in their preferred suspension tuning or who race on varied terrain requiring a balanced approach. The spring rate directly affects suspension stiffness—higher numbers indicate stiffer springs that compress less under load, whilst lower numbers indicate softer, more compliant springs. By understanding this relationship, UK RC competitors can strategically adjust spring rates between front and rear, or adjust the complete suspension, to dial in the perfect setup for their specific driving style and local track conditions. The natural finish coating protects against oxidation and corrosion, particularly important if you're using your Traxxas XRT in wet British weather or storing it for extended periods. These springs are precision-engineered components that form part of the complete GTX suspension system, and whilst they may seem like a simple consumable part, they are absolutely critical to maintaining your vehicle's handling characteristics and suspension performance. Racing competitors who regularly change springs to adapt to different track conditions understand that spring rate is one of the most effective and economical tuning adjustments available, making these Traxxas springs an essential item in any serious RC racer's maintenance and spare parts inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between spring rates and how do I choose the right one for my XRT? — Spring rate is measured in a specific unit that indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by a given distance. The higher the spring rate number, the firmer and stiffer the spring becomes. A 4.594 rate spring is considered medium stiffness—softer springs (lower numbers) provide more suspension compliance and work better on rough, bumpy terrain or for drivers who prefer a smoother ride feel, whilst stiffer springs (higher numbers) reduce suspension travel, improve precision during cornering, and work better on smooth, well-prepared racing surfaces. Most RC drivers start with medium springs and then adjust based on their specific driving preferences and local track conditions.
- Can I use these springs on both the front and rear of my XRT? — Yes, you can use these springs on either the front or rear suspension, and many drivers run the same spring rate front and rear for a balanced, predictable setup. However, some experienced competitors adjust spring rates differently between front and rear to fine-tune their vehicle's balance, oversteer characteristics, or understeer behaviour during cornering. Since you receive a pair of two springs, they're ideal for completing a full suspension refresh on one axle.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs don't wear out like tyres or damper fluid, but they can gradually lose their spring characteristics over many months of intense use. Most RC racers replace their springs seasonally or when they notice the suspension feels less responsive. It's also wise to have spare springs on hand when travelling to major UK RC competitions, so you can adjust your setup if track conditions change or if you need to compensate for different vehicle weight configurations during multi-day events.
- Are these springs compatible with other Traxxas models besides the XRT? — No, these springs are specifically designed for the Traxxas XRT family of vehicles. Whilst they may physically fit other Traxxas models, they're engineered for XRT suspension geometry and damper characteristics, so using them on incompatible vehicles could result in poor handling or damage. Always verify compatibility before purchasing replacement suspension components.
- What does the natural finish mean and how do I care for it? — Natural finish refers to a protective coating applied to the steel that prevents rust and corrosion whilst maintaining the authentic appearance of the spring. The coating is durable and requires no special maintenance beyond normal care—simply wipe the springs dry after wet weather RC sessions and store them in a dry location. The natural finish will develop a slight patina over time with use, which is completely normal and doesn't affect performance.
- Why would I need multiple sets of these springs? — Serious RC racers often maintain several sets of springs with different rates to adapt to changing track conditions, seasonal weather, or vehicle weight modifications. Softer springs might work better during winter on damp tracks, whilst stiffer springs could be preferred on smooth, dry racing surfaces. Having multiple spring sets in your spares box allows you to quickly dial in your XRT's suspension without waiting for new springs to arrive.
