If you're looking to optimise your Traxxas RC car UK setup, upgrading or replacing worn suspension components with genuine OEM parts like these TRX7845 springs is one of the smartest investments you can make. The ability to select different spring rates means you can experiment with your suspension geometry to suit your driving style, track surface, and vehicle weight distribution.
These shock springs come as a pair and are ready to install on compatible Traxxas models. Whether you're a competitive racer fine-tuning your buggy setup or a weekend basher looking to maintain your vehicle's performance, having quality replacement springs on hand ensures your RC car stays running at its best. The 2.355 spring rate sits in the medium range, making these springs versatile for a variety of driving scenarios and setups.
Key Features
- GTX Shock Spring Technology — Traxxas's GTX shock springs are engineered to provide consistent spring rates and durability, ensuring your suspension performs predictably lap after lap and reducing the need for frequent replacements.
- 2.355 Spring Rate (Medium) — The spring rate determines how firm or soft the spring is; a 2.355 rate falls in the medium range, offering a balanced setup suitable for most driving conditions and allowing you to tune your RC car's suspension without extreme stiffness or excessive compliance.
- Suspension Tuning Capability — By offering different spring rates, Traxxas allows you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, meaning you can maintain optimal handling whether you're running a stripped-down race setup or a fully loaded configuration with aftermarket parts.
- Natural Finish Coating — The natural finish provides a clean, professional appearance whilst offering protection to the spring material, helping to extend the lifespan of these critical suspension components.
- Sold as Pair — These springs come as a matched pair (quantity 2), ensuring symmetrical suspension geometry and balanced handling across both sides of your vehicle.
- OEM Quality Replacement Part — As genuine Traxxas replacement parts, these springs meet the manufacturer's exacting specifications and quality standards, ensuring compatibility and performance on your XRT or compatible sand car.
- Easy Installation — Replacing shock springs is a straightforward maintenance task that most RC enthusiasts can perform in minutes with basic tools, making these springs an ideal upgrade or replacement component for your spares drawer.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs TRX7845 represent a critical component in your RC car's suspension system. Spring rate is measured in the force required to compress the spring by a specific distance, and the 2.355 rate of these springs positions them as a versatile middle ground between softer and stiffer options. This medium rate makes them suitable for a wide range of driving situations, from smooth tarmac surfaces to loose dirt and sand tracks. The engineering of these springs ensures consistent performance across multiple compression cycles, maintaining their characteristics even under repeated use throughout a racing season or casual bashing sessions. When paired with compatible shock absorbers on Traxxas 1/8 scale models like the XRT VXL-8S, XRT Ultimate, and the 8S-powered Funco Motorsports Pro Scale sand cars, these springs contribute to stable cornering, predictable braking stability, and responsive acceleration. The natural finish coating protects the steel spring material from corrosion and wear, particularly important in humid UK climates and when running your RC car in wet or muddy conditions. Installation involves removing the existing springs from your shocks and replacing them with these new ones, a task that takes only minutes and requires no special tools beyond what most RC car owners already possess. Having a set of replacement springs in your spares box ensures you're never without a critical suspension component, and experimenting with different spring rates across Traxxas's extensive range can dramatically improve your vehicle's handling characteristics and your enjoyment of your RC hobby.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What spring rate should I choose for my Traxxas RC car? — Spring rate selection depends on your vehicle's weight, driving conditions, and personal preference. The 2.355 rate in this set is considered medium and works well for most drivers and conditions. Softer springs (lower numbers) provide more suspension compliance and are better for rough terrain, whilst stiffer springs (higher numbers) offer more support and are preferred on smooth, groomed tracks. Experimenting with different rates is part of fine-tuning your RC car UK setup.
- Are these springs compatible with all Traxxas models? — These TRX7845 springs are specifically designed for medium-length GTX shocks and are listed as compatible with the Traxxas XRT range (XRT VXL-8S and XRT Ultimate models) and the Traxxas Funco Motorsports Pro Scale 8S 2WD electric sand cars in all available colours. Always check your vehicle's manual or parts diagram to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs don't wear out in the traditional sense like tyres or brake pads, but they can lose their spring rate over time with extensive use, particularly in high-temperature conditions. If your vehicle's suspension feels softer or less responsive than it should, it's time to replace the springs. Having spare springs on hand allows you to swap them out quickly without waiting for ordering and delivery.
- What is the difference between different Traxxas spring rates? — Traxxas offers GTX shock springs in multiple rates, typically ranging from softer to stiffer options. The higher the spring rate number, the firmer the spring; for example, a 3.0 rate spring would be stiffer than this 2.355 rate. Softer springs absorb bumps better and are more forgiving on rough terrain, whilst stiffer springs maintain vehicle height better and respond more quickly to driver inputs.
- Can I mix and match spring rates on my RC car? — Mixing different spring rates between the front and rear, or left and right, can be done to tune handling characteristics, but for beginners, matching pairs are recommended to ensure predictable, balanced behaviour. As you gain experience tuning your RC car, experimenting with different combinations becomes part of developing your suspension setup expertise.
- Do these springs require any special maintenance? — Shock springs are low-maintenance components. Occasional cleaning and inspection for damage is recommended, particularly after running in wet or muddy conditions. The natural finish coating provides adequate protection, though some enthusiasts prefer to apply a thin layer of light oil to prevent corrosion in storage.
