Overview
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs (Natural Finish) (GTX) 2.599 Rate White Stripe (2) TRX7841 are precision-engineered suspension components designed specifically for fine-tuning your XRT's handling characteristics. Whether you're a dedicated RC enthusiast in the UK looking to optimise your off-road performance or someone exploring the world of RC car tuning for the first time, these genuine Traxxas shock springs offer a professional-grade solution to enhance your vehicle's suspension setup. The 2.599 spring rate provides a medium firmness that balances responsiveness with stability, making these springs suitable for a variety of terrain conditions and driving styles.
Shock spring selection is one of the most effective ways to dial in your RC car's performance without major mechanical modifications. These GTX shock springs are offered in different rates to allow you to tune your XRT's suspension performance or compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations. The higher the spring rate number, the firmer the spring, meaning a 2.599-rate spring sits in the medium range of the suspension tuning spectrum. This makes the TRX7841 an excellent choice for drivers seeking improved handling precision and consistent performance across mixed terrain. Whether you're bashing at your local RC track, competing in organised events, or simply enjoying weekend driving sessions, these Traxxas suspension components deliver the reliability and performance that RC enthusiasts throughout the UK have come to expect from the brand.
As an authorised Traxxas retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine Traxxas components backed by manufacturer support and quality assurance. These springs come as a pair (2 springs total), allowing you to upgrade both shock absorbers on your XRT with matching components. The natural finish construction ensures durability whilst the white stripe marking system makes it easy to identify the spring rate at a glance, eliminating confusion during setup changes or maintenance.
Key Features
- Medium Spring Rate (2.599) — The 2.599 spring rate designation indicates a medium-firmness suspension component that strikes an excellent balance between responsiveness and stability, making it suitable for most driving conditions and terrain types without requiring extreme tuning adjustments.
- GTX Shock Spring Technology — Traxxas GTX shock springs represent the company's premium suspension engineering, designed to maintain consistent performance characteristics across repeated use and temperature variations, ensuring reliable handling session after session.
- Natural Finish Construction — The natural finish provides excellent durability and corrosion resistance whilst maintaining a classic appearance, and is particularly well-suited for the demanding conditions of off-road RC driving in the UK climate.
- White Stripe Identification System — The white stripe marking makes it instantly recognisable which spring rate you are using, preventing confusion when swapping suspension components or comparing setup notes with other drivers at the track.
- Pair Supply (2 Springs) — You receive two springs in this package, allowing you to equip both shock absorbers on your XRT with matching components for consistent suspension performance across the front and rear of the vehicle.
- XRT Compatibility — These springs are engineered specifically for Traxxas XRT models including the XRT VXL-8S (available in Blue, Orange, Green, and Black variants) and the XRT Ultimate (Green X and Blue X versions), ensuring perfect fitment and performance integration.
- Suspension Tuning Flexibility — By selecting springs in different rates, you can optimise your XRT's handling for heavier or lighter vehicle configurations, adjust ride height, improve cornering stability, or fine-tune responsiveness to match your driving style and local track conditions.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Medium Shock Springs TRX7841 represent precision engineering focused on suspension dynamics. As genuine Traxxas components, these GTX shock springs are manufactured to exacting standards using materials and design principles developed through years of off-road RC competition experience. The 2.599 spring rate sits comfortably in the medium range, providing sufficient support for vehicles in standard configurations whilst remaining soft enough to absorb impacts and maintain traction on rough terrain. The spring rate is critical to suspension performance: a stiffer spring (higher rate number) resists compression more heavily, resulting in a higher ride height, reduced body roll in corners, and generally sharper but potentially harsher handling characteristics. Conversely, a softer spring (lower rate number) allows greater compression, producing a lower ride height, more compliant suspension action, and smoother overall feel through impacts. The 2.599 rate places this spring squarely in the versatile middle ground, making it an excellent choice for drivers who haven't yet dialled in their preferences or who drive across varied terrain. The natural finish ensures these springs will withstand the moisture, dirt, and temperature fluctuations typical of UK outdoor RC driving without degrading performance. Whether you're running your XRT on loose gravel, packed earth, grass fields, or mixed-surface courses, these springs deliver consistent suspension characteristics that experienced drivers recognise as essential tuning components.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What XRT models are these shock springs compatible with? — These TRX7841 springs are designed for Traxxas XRT models including the XRT VXL-8S available in Blue (TRX78086-4-BLUE), Orange (TRX78086-4-ORNG), Green (TRX78086-4-GRN), and Black (TRX78086-4-BLK) variants, plus the XRT Ultimate in Green X (TRX78097-4-GRNX) and Blue X (TRX78097-4-BLUEX) configurations.
- How do spring rates affect my RC car's performance? — The spring rate (measured by the number, in this case 2.599) determines how much force is required to compress the spring. A higher number means a stiffer, firmer spring that resists compression more, resulting in less suspension travel, a higher ride height, and reduced body roll but a potentially harsher ride. A lower number means a softer spring with more suspension compliance. The 2.599 medium rate offers balanced performance across most terrain and driving styles.
- Why would I need to change my shock springs? — Shock spring selection is one of the most effective ways to tune your RC car's suspension without expensive modifications. You might choose stiffer springs (higher rate) if your vehicle is sagging under load or rolling excessively in corners, or softer springs (lower rate) if your vehicle sits too high or feels too stiff over bumpy terrain. Different spring rates also compensate for vehicle weight changes if you've added heavier components or ballast.
- How many springs do I get in this package? — You receive 2 springs in the TRX7841 package, which is sufficient to equip both shock absorbers (typically front and rear) on your XRT with matching components for consistent suspension performance.
- What does the white stripe on these springs mean? — The white stripe is Traxxas's identification system for spring rates, making it easy to visually recognise which rate springs you're using at a glance. This prevents confusion when you have multiple spring rates available or when comparing setup notes with other drivers.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, the 2.599 medium spring rate is an excellent starting point for drivers new to suspension tuning, as it provides balanced performance across varied terrain and driving styles without requiring extreme adjustments in either direction.
- Do I need any tools to install these springs? — Installation typically requires basic RC tools such as screwdrivers and hex wrenches to remove the shock absorber caps and swap the springs. Refer to your XRT's manual for detailed installation instructions to ensure proper assembly and safety.
