Overview
The Traxxas Spring, Shock, White (GTR XX-Long) (0.874 rate Black) represents a precision suspension component engineered for serious RC enthusiasts who demand superior ride quality and handling performance from their 1/10 scale RC cars. Whether you're running a Traxxas Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 or other compatible RC vehicles in the UK, these GTR shock springs are designed to transform your driving experience by providing tunable suspension geometry that adapts to your specific driving style and vehicle configuration. These are genuine Traxxas parts, manufactured to the same exacting standards that have made Traxxas the world's leading RC manufacturer, and they offer the reliability and performance that competitive and recreational RC drivers alike depend upon.
GTR shocks revolutionised 1/10 scale suspension design by offering extended-length geometry that provides improved suspension travel, better weight distribution, and enhanced ground clearance for off-road RC performance. The 0.874 rate specification places these springs in the middle of the Traxxas stiffness range, making them an ideal choice for drivers seeking balanced compliance and traction without excessive bounce or harshness. If you're upgrading your RC car UK setup or fine-tuning an existing build, these GTR XX-Long springs deliver the suspension responsiveness that separates competitive RC drivers from casual bashers.
Available as a pair to service both front and rear shocks, these white powder-coated springs are engineered from high-quality spring steel that resists fatigue and maintains consistent performance through countless heat cycles. The durable finish protects against rust and corrosion during outdoor RC sessions, and the consistent spring rate ensures predictable handling characteristics whether you're tackling rough terrain, tight corners, or high-speed straightaways in your RC car racing or bashing adventures.
Key Features
- High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — Manufactured from premium spring steel, these GTR springs resist fatigue and deformation through extended use, maintaining consistent spring characteristics even after hundreds of charge cycles and driving sessions, which means your suspension tuning won't drift over time.
- Durable White Powder-Coated Finish — The protective white powder coating resists corrosion and rust, ensuring these springs maintain their appearance and structural integrity through wet weather RC driving sessions typical in the UK climate, and the finish also helps identify spring rate at a glance.
- 0.874 Rate Black Stripe Specification — This medium stiffness rating sits in the middle of the Traxxas suspension tuning range, providing the perfect balance between compliance for traction and firmness for control, making these springs ideal for general-purpose RC driving that doesn't require extreme softness or extreme stiffness.
- XX-Long GTR Shock Compatible — These springs are engineered specifically for Traxxas XX-Long GTR shock absorbers, which feature extended suspension geometry that delivers superior ride quality, improved ground clearance, and enhanced weight distribution compared to standard shocks.
- Supplied as a Pair — You receive two springs in this package, allowing you to service both shocks or maintain a spare set for race day backup, ensuring you're never caught without replacement springs during RC competitions or weekend bashing sessions.
- Suspension Tuning Platform — Traxxas offers GTR springs in multiple rates to allow precise suspension tuning, meaning if you find these 0.874 rate springs too soft or too stiff for your driving style, you can switch to alternative rates without changing your shocks, enabling incremental performance improvements.
- Genuine Traxxas Component — As official Traxxas parts, these springs guarantee compatibility with Traxxas vehicles and maintain the integrity of your RC car's suspension system, which is critical for consistent handling and preventing premature wear of other suspension components.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTR XX-Long shock springs represent a significant advancement in 1/10 scale suspension design, combining extended-length geometry with precisely calibrated spring rates to deliver suspension performance that serious RC drivers demand. The 0.874 rate specification strikes an optimal balance in the Traxxas spring rate hierarchy—stiffer than the softest options for added stability and roll control, yet compliant enough to absorb bumps and maintain tyre contact with uneven terrain, which translates to improved traction and predictable handling. Constructed from high-quality spring steel, these springs maintain consistent performance characteristics throughout their service life, resisting the gradual softening that inferior materials suffer. The white powder-coated finish protects the steel substrate from moisture and salt spray, particularly important for RC drivers in the UK where damp conditions and winter salt-treated roads can accelerate corrosion. The XX-Long GTR shock geometry requires springs engineered specifically to these specifications; using incompatible springs risks unpredictable handling and potential damage to the shock body. These springs represent the engineering philosophy that has made Traxxas the preferred choice for RC drivers worldwide, combining performance-focused design with materials science that ensures reliability and consistency through countless charging cycles and competitive RC sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What vehicle types are these GTR shock springs compatible with? — These springs are compatible with Traxxas vehicles equipped with XX-Long GTR shocks, including the Traxxas Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 and other models featuring this extended-length shock geometry. Always verify your vehicle manual to confirm GTR shock compatibility before purchasing.
- What does the 0.874 spring rate mean and how does it affect my RC car's performance? — The spring rate indicates how much resistance the spring provides as it compresses; a higher rate number means a stiffer spring that resists compression more forcefully. The 0.874 rate positions these springs in the middle of Traxxas's suspension tuning range, offering balanced compliance and control that provides good traction without excessive bounce, making them suitable for general recreational RC driving and moderate terrain.
- How does the white powder-coated finish benefit these springs? — The white powder coating provides corrosion and rust resistance, protecting the steel spring from moisture damage during outdoor RC sessions, particularly important in the UK's often damp weather conditions. The durable finish also maintains the springs' appearance and helps you quickly identify the spring rate by its black stripe marking.
- Can I use different spring rates with my GTR shocks? — Yes, this is precisely why Traxxas offers multiple spring rates for GTR shocks—to allow tuning of your suspension performance without changing the shock absorber itself. If you find the 0.874 rate too soft or too stiff for your driving style or vehicle weight, you can simply swap in different-rate springs to fine-tune your handling characteristics.
- Why do GTR shocks require specific spring rates? — GTR shocks feature extended-length geometry that differs from standard shocks, meaning the spring's compressed length, free length, and seating must be precisely matched to avoid damaging the shock body or achieving unpredictable handling. Using springs designed specifically for GTR shocks ensures proper geometry and performance.
- How often do I need to replace my shock springs? — Springs generally maintain their characteristics for many RC driving seasons under normal use, but they should be inspected regularly for signs of deformation, corrosion, or reduced performance. If you notice excessive bounciness or poor handling, it's time to replace your springs.
- Are these springs suitable for competitive RC racing? — Yes, the 0.874 rate is considered a middle-ground stiffness suitable for general competition and recreational racing. Many RC drivers use these springs successfully in club-level racing, though competitive specialists might fine-tune to softer or stiffer rates depending on track conditions and driving preferences.
- What's the difference between the 0.874 rate and other GTR spring rates? — Traxxas offers GTR springs in various rates, with higher numbers indicating stiffer springs and lower numbers indicating softer springs. The 0.874 rate provides moderate stiffness; softer springs offer more compliance for rough terrain, while stiffer springs provide enhanced control for high-speed driving or heavier vehicle configurations.
