Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (GTR) (2.925 rate, Blue) (1 pair) TRX7245 is an essential suspension tuning component for 1/16 scale RC models, specifically designed for vehicles equipped with GTR-style shock absorbers. Whether you're a serious competitor fine-tuning your RC car's handling characteristics or an enthusiast looking to improve how your 1/16 scale model performs on various terrain, these genuine Traxxas shock springs offer the precision engineering and quality construction you need. As an authorised Traxxas retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine components that help you achieve the perfect balance between comfort, control and performance in your RC car setup.

Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to transform how your RC car handles, and choosing the right spring rate is fundamental to getting the best from your vehicle. These GTR shock springs are manufactured by Traxxas using high-quality spring steel, ensuring durability and consistent performance across countless runs and jumps. The blue stripe identifies these as 2.925-rate springs, which means they offer a specific stiffness level designed to work with particular vehicle configurations and driving conditions. If you're running a lighter setup or need your RC car to handle bumps and jumps more effectively, upgrading your shock springs can make a dramatic difference to your driving experience.

Sold as a pair, these springs give you exactly what you need to replace both front and rear shock units or to set up matching suspension geometry across your vehicle. UK RC enthusiasts and ready to run RC car owners alike rely on genuine Traxxas spares to maintain their models in top condition, and these shock springs are no exception. With their powder-coated finish and precision engineering, they represent excellent value for money and a sensible investment in your RC hobby.

Key Features

  • High-quality spring steel construction — These shock springs are manufactured from premium spring steel that resists fatigue and maintains consistent performance over time, ensuring your suspension tuning investment lasts through countless driving sessions and competitive events.
  • Durable powder-coated finish — The red powder-coated finish protects the springs from corrosion and damage, extending their lifespan and maintaining their appearance even when exposed to moisture, dirt and the rigours of outdoor RC driving.
  • 2.925 spring rate tuning — The 2.925-rate specification provides a specific level of stiffness that allows you to tune your vehicle's suspension performance, helping your 1/16 scale RC model handle bumps, jumps and corners with greater control and stability.
  • Blue stripe identification — The distinctive blue stripe makes it easy to identify the spring rate at a glance, helping you keep track of your suspension setup and making it simple to match springs when replacing worn components.
  • Sold as matching pair — Each purchase includes two springs, giving you a complete set for balanced suspension geometry and the flexibility to upgrade both shock positions or experiment with different configurations on your vehicle.
  • 1/16 GTR compatibility — Designed specifically for 1/16 scale GTR shock systems, these springs integrate perfectly with Traxxas models engineered to use this suspension platform, ensuring proper fitment and optimal performance.
  • Suspension tuning versatility — The availability of different spring rates means you can select the perfect stiffness for your specific needs, whether you're compensating for heavier or lighter vehicle configurations or adapting to different driving environments.

Technical Performance

Understanding the technical aspects of these Traxxas shock springs is essential for getting the best from your 1/16 scale RC car. The 2.925-rate specification refers to the spring constant, which measures how much force is required to compress the spring by a set distance. A higher rate number indicates a stiffer spring that resists compression more strongly, whilst a lower rate produces a softer, more compliant suspension. This particular rate sits in the medium range, making it suitable for balanced driving on mixed terrain where you need both bump absorption and responsive handling. The engineering behind these springs involves precision winding of the high-quality spring steel to create consistent coils that perform identically across both springs in the pair, ensuring your vehicle maintains balanced suspension geometry. The powder-coated finish applied to each spring serves both aesthetic and protective purposes — it looks professional and helps shield the steel from moisture and road salt that could otherwise cause corrosion. For drivers in the UK and beyond, investing in quality aftermarket springs like these is a proven way to significantly improve how your RC car feels on the track or trail, offering better traction, more predictable handling and enhanced comfort when driving over rough surfaces.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is the spring rate and how does it affect my RC car's performance? — The 2.925-rate specification indicates a medium stiffness level that provides a balance between bump absorption and responsive handling. The higher the spring rate number, the stiffer the spring — so 2.925-rate springs are neither particularly soft nor extremely stiff, making them suitable for mixed-terrain driving where you need both comfort and control. If your current setup feels too bouncy over bumps, you might benefit from a stiffer (higher rate) spring, whilst if the suspension feels too harsh, a softer (lower rate) option could help.
  • Are these springs compatible with my 1/16 scale Traxxas model? — These springs are designed specifically for 1/16 scale vehicles equipped with GTR-style shock absorbers. If your model uses the GTR suspension platform, these springs will fit directly. Check your vehicle's manual or contact our team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your specific model.
  • Why would I need to replace my shock springs? — Springs can lose their stiffness over time through repeated compression cycles, or you might want to upgrade to a different rate to improve handling characteristics. Many RC enthusiasts also experiment with different spring rates to find the perfect setup for their driving style and local terrain.
  • How do I know which spring rate is right for my setup? — This depends on your vehicle weight, driving style and the terrain you use most. Lighter vehicles typically need softer springs, whilst heavier configurations benefit from stiffer springs. If you're unsure, start with a medium rate like these 2.925-rate springs and adjust from there based on how your car feels.
  • Will these springs work with heavier or lighter RC car configurations? — Yes, one of the advantages of offering multiple spring rates is that you can use them to compensate for vehicle weight variations. If you've added heavier components or upgraded your battery, stiffer springs might improve handling; conversely, a lighter setup might benefit from softer springs.
  • How long do shock springs typically last? — The lifespan depends on usage frequency and conditions, but the high-quality spring steel used in Traxxas GTR springs is designed to maintain its properties through thousands of compression cycles. The powder-coated finish helps protect against corrosion that could reduce lifespan.
