Overview
The Traxxas Springs, Rear (progressive, -10% rate, Green) (2 pcs) TRX6866 are precision-engineered suspension tuning components designed specifically for the Traxxas Slash 4X4 1/10 scale RC short course truck. These progressive-rate rear springs represent a significant upgrade for anyone looking to fine-tune their RC car's handling characteristics and performance on the track or bash course. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast in the UK seeking competition-level suspension adjustments or a keen hobbyist wanting to optimise your truck's behaviour across different terrain, these springs deliver the adjustability that serious RC racers demand.
As part of Traxxas's comprehensive tuning system, these rear springs work in conjunction with front springs (sold separately) to give you complete control over your Slash 4X4's suspension geometry and compliance. The fully adjustable suspension on the Slash 4X4 is already impressive out of the box, but with Traxxas's new progressive-rate tuning springs, you can hone your truck's handling to an ever greater degree of precision. The -10% softer rate (indicated by the green colour coding) makes these springs ideal for drivers who want slightly more compliance in their suspension without sacrificing the ability to handle big hits and aggressive driving. This is a popular choice for UK RC enthusiasts running a variety of courses and conditions.
Custom-wound specifically for the Slash 4X4, these springs benefit from Traxxas's extensive engineering expertise and are part of a complete spring rate range designed to suit any setup preference. Available in four different rates to accommodate different driving styles and track conditions, the green-coded -10% softer springs strike an excellent balance between small-bump compliance and big-hit capability. The progressive-rate design is what sets these springs apart from conventional fixed-rate alternatives, allowing your RC car to absorb minor track imperfections while maintaining excellent support during aggressive manoeuvres and impacts.
Key Features
- Progressive-Rate Design — The progressive spring geometry allows small-bump compliance without compromising big-hit capability, meaning your Slash 4X4 will feel more comfortable over minor track irregularities whilst maintaining excellent support when landing jumps or hitting large obstacles, giving you the best of both worlds for all-round performance.
- Custom Wound for Slash 4X4 — These springs are engineered and manufactured specifically for the Slash 4X4 platform, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal performance characteristics that wouldn't be achieved with generic or aftermarket springs designed for other vehicles.
- -10% Softer Rate — The green colour-coded springs are 10% softer than the stock specification, providing slightly increased suspension travel and compliance whilst maintaining excellent stability and control, ideal for drivers who prefer a slightly softer feel without going all the way to the 20% softer orange springs.
- Durable Powdercoated Finish — The white powdercoated finish provides lasting good looks and excellent durability, protecting the springs from corrosion, moisture damage and the general wear and tear that comes with regular RC driving and bashers, ensuring your investment maintains its appearance over extended use.
- Colour-Coded System — The green colour coding makes it instantly easy to identify the spring rate at a glance, eliminating confusion when swapping springs and making it simple to track which rate you're currently running on your RC car, particularly useful when experimenting with different setups.
- Sold in Pairs — This package contains two rear springs, providing a complete rear suspension upgrade for your Slash 4X4 and ensuring matched performance across both rear wheels for balanced handling characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Springs, Rear are engineered to the highest standards with careful attention to spring rate consistency, material quality and longevity. The progressive-rate design uses a carefully calculated coil geometry that transitions from softer compliance in the lower stroke range to stiffer support in the upper range, preventing bottoming-out whilst maintaining the plush ride feel that drivers appreciate. The -10% softer specification positions these springs in the middle of the Traxxas tuning range, making them suitable for a wide variety of driving conditions and styles. They integrate seamlessly with the Slash 4X4's independent double-wishbone suspension geometry, which features adjustable anti-roll bars and is already known for its excellent handling balance. The white powdercoated finish is applied using industrial-quality coating processes that resist fading, chipping and corrosion, meaning these springs will maintain their appearance whether you're running them on concrete tracks, dirt courses, or bashing through grass and mud. The springs are matched to work with the Slash 4X4's factory shock absorbers and suspension geometry, and they're compatible with all colour variants of the Traxxas Slash VXL 1:10 4x4 RTR short course truck platform.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which Traxxas Slash models are these springs compatible with? — These springs are specifically designed for the Traxxas Slash VXL 1:10 4x4 RTR short course truck and are compatible with all colour variants including orange, red, blue and green models. They will not fit other Traxxas vehicles or non-Slash platforms, so always check compatibility before purchasing.
- What is the difference between the four available spring rates? — Traxxas offers four different progressive-rate spring options: orange springs (20% softer than stock) for maximum compliance and comfort, green springs (10% softer, this product) for a balanced feel, blue springs (20% stiffer) for more aggressive support, and pink springs (10% stiffer) for slightly firmer handling. Choose based on your preferred driving style and track conditions.
- Should I buy front and rear springs at the same time? — For optimal suspension tuning and balanced handling, most drivers upgrade both front and rear springs together in matching rates. Buying this rear spring only is perfectly valid if you're replacing a worn rear spring or experimenting with mixed-rate setups, but coordinated front and rear upgrades typically deliver the best overall results.
- Are these springs suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The -10% softer rate is a great entry point to suspension tuning and provides a more comfortable ride than stock springs without being so soft that the truck becomes difficult to control. Beginners will appreciate the improved small-bump compliance whilst still having plenty of support for learning jumps and aggressive driving.
- Will these springs make my Slash 4X4 faster? — Springs don't directly increase top speed, but they can improve overall performance by optimising weight transfer, traction and handling stability. By running the softer rate, you may find your truck maintains better traction over bumpy terrain and small imperfections, which can translate to faster lap times on technical courses.
- How often should I replace my suspension springs? — Progressive-rate springs like these are extremely durable and should last a very long time with normal use. Replace them only if they become damaged, lose their spring rate over extended use, or when you want to experiment with a different rate. The powdercoated finish provides excellent protection against wear and corrosion.
- Can I mix and match spring rates (softer fronts with stiffer rears or vice versa)? — Yes, many experienced drivers experiment with mixed-rate setups to fine-tune their truck's balance and handling characteristics. However, the standard recommendation is to use matched rates front and rear to ensure predictable, balanced behaviour across different driving conditions.
