Overview
The Traxxas Springs, Front (progressive, -10% rate, Green) (2 pcs) TRX6862 are precision-engineered suspension components designed specifically for the Traxxas Slash 4X4 short course truck. These custom-wound progressive-rate springs represent Traxxas's commitment to delivering championship-level tuning options for RC enthusiasts across the UK. Whether you're a competitive racer looking to fine-tune your vehicle's handling characteristics or a weekend basher seeking improved performance on varied terrain, these front springs offer the adjustability and quality you'd expect from the world's leading RC manufacturer.
The Slash 4X4 has earned its reputation as one of the most versatile and customisable short course RC trucks available, and the fully adjustable suspension system is a key reason for its success. With Traxxas's new progressive-rate tuning springs, you can hone your truck's handling to an ever greater degree of precision, dialling in the perfect setup for your driving style and track conditions. Available in four different rates to suit any setup preference, these springs deliver professional-grade suspension tuning that was previously only available through expensive custom spring manufacturers. For UK RC car enthusiasts seeking to maximise their Slash 4X4's potential, these springs are an essential upgrade.
Each pack contains two front springs colour-coded in green to indicate the -10% softer rate, making it instantly obvious which springs are installed on your vehicle. The durable powdercoated finish ensures lasting good looks through countless hours of bashing and racing, whilst the progressive-rate design delivers the kind of advanced suspension engineering that separates true RC competition vehicles from basic ready-to-run models.
Key Features
- Progressive-rate design — The progressive-rate design allows small-bump compliance without compromising big-hit capability, meaning your suspension will soak up minor track imperfections and small rocks with ease whilst still maintaining the structural support needed for aggressive landings and hard impacts. This dual-capability suspension philosophy gives you the best of both worlds in a single spring.
- Custom-wound specifically for Slash 4X4 — These springs are not generic components; they are custom-wound specifically for the Slash 4X4, ensuring perfect fitment, correct preload characteristics and optimised performance within the vehicle's suspension geometry. This precision engineering means you'll achieve the handling improvements Traxxas designed into them.
- Colour-coded identification — Each spring is colour-coded in green to easily identify the spring rate, eliminating confusion when swapping springs between different tuning setups or when sharing information with racing teammates. The colour-coding system across the entire range (orange for -20% softer, green for -10% softer, blue for +20% stiffer, and pink for +10% stiffer) makes it simple to manage multiple spring sets.
- Durable powdercoated finish — The white powdercoated finish is not merely cosmetic; it provides protection against corrosion and wear, ensuring your springs maintain their appearance and function through countless hours of off-road driving in UK weather conditions. This professional-grade finish demonstrates Traxxas's attention to build quality.
- Sold in matched pairs — These springs are supplied in pairs specifically for front suspension fitment, ensuring perfectly matched characteristics across your Slash 4X4's front end. Matched suspension components are essential for predictable and stable handling.
- Part of comprehensive tuning system — The -10% rate sits in the middle of the four available spring rates, making these green springs an ideal starting point for most drivers or a perfect refinement tool for those coming from stiffer or softer setups. You can easily experiment with different rates to find your optimal setup.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Springs represent the pinnacle of short course truck suspension engineering, offering the kind of precision tuning that serious RC competitors demand. Progressive-rate suspension springs operate on a different principle than traditional linear-rate springs; as the spring compresses, the effective rate gradually increases, providing initial compliance for small bumps whilst progressively stiffening to handle large impacts without bottoming out. This sophisticated engineering approach has become the standard in professional RC racing worldwide. The -10% softer rate means these springs are approximately 10 percent less stiff than the stock Slash 4X4 springs, making them ideal for drivers who want slightly more compliance through their suspension whilst maintaining excellent support and control. The powdercoated steel construction ensures durability through thousands of impacts whilst maintaining consistent spring characteristics over extended use. With proper maintenance and care, these springs will continue to deliver predictable handling for seasons of competitive racing or recreational bashing. The custom wound specification ensures that the spring rate, free length, and preload characteristics are perfectly optimised for the Slash 4X4's geometry and weight distribution.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the difference between progressive-rate springs and standard springs? — Progressive-rate springs utilise a variable stiffness design that starts soft for small bumps but becomes progressively stiffer as the spring compresses further, providing excellent small-bump compliance without sacrificing big-hit support. Standard linear-rate springs maintain the same stiffness throughout their compression range, making them either too soft for aggressive driving or too stiff for smooth terrain. The progressive design is universally preferred in professional RC racing because it delivers superior handling across varied terrain.
- How do I know if I need softer or stiffer springs? — If your Slash 4X4 feels harsh and skips over small bumps, you need softer springs. If it bottoms out easily or feels wallowy, you need stiffer springs. The -10% softer green springs are ideal if your truck is currently using stock springs and feels a bit harsh, or if you want slightly more suspension travel for bashing. Traxxas provides four rates (orange -20%, green -10%, blue +20%, pink +10%) so you can fine-tune your setup precisely.
- Will these springs fit my Slash 4X4? — Yes, these springs are custom-wound specifically for the Slash 4X4 and will fit perfectly. They are compatible with all colour variants of the Traxxas Slash VXL 1:10 4x4 RTR, as well as the Ford Fiesta ST Rally models. Always verify your specific model against the compatibility list before purchasing.
- How often should I replace my suspension springs? — With proper care, these springs should last through many seasons of use. However, if you notice that your suspension feels less responsive, springs have lost their shape, or the powdercoat has significant damage exposing bare metal, it's time to replace them. Regular inspection during routine maintenance will help you catch any wear early.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my Slash 4X4? — Whilst technically possible, mixing different spring rates front and rear is not recommended as it will create unpredictable handling characteristics. Always use matched springs front and rear for the best performance and most predictable handling dynamics.
- What tools do I need to install these springs? — Installation requires basic RC tools including a spring tool or similar tool to compress the spring for removal and installation. Refer to your Slash 4X4 manual for detailed suspension service instructions. No special tools beyond standard RC tools are required.
