Overview
The Traxxas Sensor, RPM (Short) / 3x4mm BCS (2 pcs) TRX6522 is an essential telemetry accessory for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand real-time performance monitoring and data acquisition during their RC car sessions. Whether you're a serious racer fine-tuning your 1/10 scale brushless RC buggy or a weekend basher pushing your RC monster truck to its limits, this dual-pack RPM telemetry sensor delivers accurate rotational speed measurements that integrate seamlessly with Traxxas's advanced telemetry ecosystem. The short design of these sensors makes them ideal for compact installations where space is at a premium, ensuring you can add telemetry capability to virtually any Traxxas RC vehicle without compromising chassis geometry or aerodynamics.
RPM telemetry data has become increasingly important in the modern RC hobby. Serious competitors use RPM sensors to verify motor performance, detect mechanical issues before they cause failures, and optimise gearing and battery performance across different track conditions. Even casual RC car enthusiasts appreciate the peace of mind that comes with real-time performance monitoring—if your motor is losing RPM due to a binding bearing or a fouled gearbox, you'll know about it immediately rather than discovering the problem after a crash. This two-piece pack gives you the flexibility to monitor dual motors simultaneously, which is particularly valuable for 4WD RC vehicles where you can track performance across front and rear powerplants independently.
Designed to work with Traxxas's telemetry-enabled transmitters and receivers, the TRX6522 represents genuine Traxxas engineering and quality that RC model enthusiasts have trusted for decades. The short form factor and 3x4mm connector specification make installation straightforward for anyone with basic RC maintenance experience, and the two-piece configuration ensures you're ready to implement full dual-motor telemetry from the moment you open the box.
Key Features
- Dual RPM Sensors — This pack includes two complete RPM telemetry sensors, allowing you to monitor the rotational speed of both your motor and secondary drive source simultaneously, which is essential for diagnosing drivetrain imbalances and ensuring even weight distribution across 4WD RC vehicles.
- Short Profile Design — The compact short format minimises installation footprint and clearance issues, allowing seamless integration into tight chassis configurations without modifying your RC car's suspension geometry, wheelbase geometry or centre of gravity.
- 3x4mm BCS Connector — The standardised 3x4mm banana connector specification ensures reliable mechanical connection and electrical conductivity, making the sensor compatible with Traxxas's entire range of telemetry-enabled receivers and providing trouble-free operation across hundreds of charge cycles.
- Traxxas Telemetry Integration — These sensors work in harmony with Traxxas's telemetry-enabled radio systems and receiver modules, delivering real-time RPM data to your transmitter's display screen so you can monitor performance while driving and review data logs after each session.
- Genuine Traxxas Quality — Manufactured to Traxxas's exacting standards, these sensors use precision engineering and durable materials to withstand the vibration, heat and mechanical stress inherent in high-performance RC driving, whether on-road racing or off-road bashing.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas RPM Sensor TRX6522 exemplifies Traxxas's commitment to precision telemetry hardware. These sensors use proven optical or magnetic detection technology to count motor shaft rotations in real time, converting mechanical motion into electrical signals that transmit instantly to your radio receiver and then to your transmitter display. The short form factor allows installation in the tightest spaces without requiring chassis modifications, mounting brackets, or creative cable routing—simply fit the sensor to your motor shaft or drive axle according to Traxxas's installation instructions and you're ready to acquire data. The 3x4mm connector specification ensures these sensors integrate flawlessly with Traxxas's entire telemetry ecosystem, from entry-level telemetry-equipped receivers to advanced competition-grade systems. Each sensor in this dual pack is individually calibrated and tested at the factory to ensure repeatability and accuracy, so you can confidently compare RPM readings between motors or across multiple sessions. The build quality is characteristically Traxxas—durable polymer construction protects the sensor electronics from dust, moisture and minor impacts, whilst the connector housing maintains secure mechanical coupling even when subjected to the vibration loads of high-speed running.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does an RPM telemetry sensor do? — An RPM sensor measures the rotational speed of your motor or drive axle and transmits this data wirelessly to your Traxxas telemetry-enabled transmitter, allowing you to monitor real-time performance whilst driving and review historical data after your session has finished. This information helps you detect mechanical problems early, verify that your gearing changes have had the desired effect, and identify differences between front and rear motor performance on 4WD RC vehicles.
- Is this sensor compatible with all Traxxas RC cars? — The TRX6522 short RPM sensor is compatible with any Traxxas RC vehicle that features a telemetry-enabled receiver and is equipped with Traxxas's telemetry option package. Check your vehicle's documentation or contact RC Model Shop to confirm telemetry compatibility with your specific model.
- What are the advantages of dual RPM monitoring? — Monitoring RPM on both motors simultaneously reveals whether your motors are balanced and performing identically, detects drivetrain issues like binding or wear, and allows you to verify that your differential is distributing power evenly across your RC buggy or monster truck's wheels. This is particularly valuable on 4WD RC vehicles where front-to-rear motor imbalances can affect handling and traction.
- How difficult is installation? — Installation difficulty depends on your chosen mounting location and your RC vehicle's specific design, but generally the process involves securing the sensor to your motor shaft or drive axle according to Traxxas's detailed instructions, then plugging the 3x4mm connector into your telemetry receiver. Anyone with basic RC mechanical experience should be able to complete installation in 15-30 minutes per sensor.
- Does this require any special transmitter or receiver? — Yes, your Traxxas RC vehicle must be equipped with a telemetry-enabled receiver module and your transmitter must support telemetry display to make use of these sensors. Standard Traxxas receivers and 2.4GHz radio systems without telemetry capability will not work with these sensors.
- What is the difference between short and long RPM sensors? — The TRX6522 short format minimises installation height and chassis clearance requirements, making it ideal for vehicles with limited vertical space or tight motor compartments. Long sensors provide extended reach for alternative mounting configurations. For most standard RC cars, trucks and buggies, the short version offers superior ease of installation.
