Overview

The Traxxas Springs, Rear (Pink) (progressive rate) (2) TRX5858P are premium suspension components designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand responsive handling and reliable performance. These XX-long progressive springs are custom-wound by Traxxas to deliver exceptional control across a wide range of driving conditions, from smooth tracks to rough terrain. Whether you're running a Traxxas Mini Maxx BL-2S or a Slash HD XL-5 short course truck, these springs provide the tuning flexibility that competitive RC car UK drivers rely on. Progressive-rate springs are engineered to give you the best of both worlds: a soft initial spring rate that soaks up small bumps and keeps your RC model planted on uneven surfaces, combined with a progressively stiffer resistance that kicks in during hard impacts and aggressive cornering. This means your RC vehicle maintains better traction, more predictable handling, and superior overall stability compared to single-rate springs.

If you're looking to upgrade your Traxxas suspension or replace worn springs on your existing RC car, these pink springs offer a perfect balance of comfort and performance. The XX-long length is specifically designed to work with Traxxas Ultra Shocks, which means you're getting a matched pair of components engineered to work together perfectly. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking genuine Traxxas spares that deliver consistent results, these progressive springs are a reliable choice that will improve your driving experience immediately.

Sold as a pair, the Traxxas Springs, Rear (Pink) (progressive rate) (2) TRX5858P give you everything you need to upgrade or replace the rear suspension on compatible models. These are genuine Traxxas parts, not aftermarket compromises, so you can be confident you're getting the quality and reliability that comes from the manufacturer's own engineering and testing.

Key Features

  • Progressive-Rate Spring Design — The springs feature a progressive rate that starts soft to absorb small bumps with minimal suspension travel, then becomes progressively stiffer as you compress the spring further, which means you get superior bump absorption for rough terrain without sacrificing cornering stability or high-speed control.
  • Custom-Wound by Traxxas — These springs are manufactured to Traxxas specifications and precision standards, ensuring consistent performance and compatibility with genuine Traxxas shock absorbers, which means you're getting factory-engineered components rather than generic aftermarket alternatives.
  • Compatible with Ultra Shocks — Specifically designed for Traxxas Ultra Shocks in XX-long configuration, these springs are matched to the shock geometry and travel characteristics of these premium components, delivering optimised suspension response across the full range of bump sizes and impact forces.
  • Sold as a Pair — You receive two springs in this package, which is the correct quantity for rear suspension on most Traxxas RC models, eliminating the need to purchase multiple packs or guess at quantity requirements.
  • Performance Tuning Tool — Progressive springs allow you to fine-tune your RC car's handling characteristics without replacing the entire shock assembly, giving you a cost-effective way to dial in the perfect suspension setup for your driving style and track conditions.
  • Improved Traction Control — The responsive control for small bumps means your tyres maintain better contact with the ground during acceleration and braking, which translates to improved traction and more predictable handling in competitive racing or casual bashing.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas Springs, Rear (Pink) (progressive rate) (2) feature engineering that reflects decades of RC racing and development experience. Progressive-rate springs work by providing a softer initial spring constant that gradually increases as compression increases, which is fundamentally different from traditional single-rate springs that provide uniform resistance throughout their travel. This means when your RC model hits a small rock or root, the spring compresses easily without harsh suspension feedback, but when you land a jump or hit a kerb, the spring progressively stiffens to control the impact and prevent bottoming out. The XX-long length specification means these springs are designed for maximum suspension travel, making them ideal for rough terrain, jumps, and aggressive driving styles where you need extended compression range. The pink colour coding helps you identify the spring rate at a glance, which is essential when experimenting with different spring rates to optimise your setup. The custom-wound design ensures consistent performance throughout the spring's lifespan, and the materials used are selected for durability in the demanding environment of RC car driving. These springs will maintain their performance characteristics through hundreds of hours of driving, delivering consistent handling and predictable suspension response whether you're bashing with mates in the garden or competing at your local RC club track.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a progressive-rate spring and why is it better than a regular spring? — A progressive-rate spring provides a soft initial spring rate for bump absorption, then progressively stiffens as you compress it further. This gives you the best of both worlds: comfortable bump absorption for small obstacles combined with firm support during hard landings and cornering forces. Regular single-rate springs are either soft (good for bumps but wallowy in corners) or stiff (good for handling but harsh over bumps). Progressive springs find the sweet spot that works well in all conditions.
  • Will these springs fit my Traxxas RC model? — These XX-long progressive springs are designed for Traxxas Ultra Shocks and are compatible with multiple models including the Mini Maxx BL-2S and Slash HD XL-5 short course truck range. Check your model's shock specifications to confirm compatibility, or contact RC Model Shop if you're unsure whether these are the correct springs for your vehicle.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, these are official Traxxas springs (part number TRX5858P) manufactured by Traxxas to their exact specifications. Genuine Traxxas parts ensure compatibility and performance consistency that you may not get with aftermarket alternatives, and they carry the assurance of the manufacturer's quality control and engineering standards.
  • How long do RC springs typically last? — Quality Traxxas springs will maintain consistent performance through hundreds of hours of driving. They don't typically wear out in the traditional sense, but over time (usually after 2-3 years of regular use) they may lose some of their initial response due to metal fatigue. For competitive drivers, replacing springs once per season is common practice; for casual drivers, they'll last several seasons.
  • Can I mix and match spring rates on different ends of my RC car? — Yes, experimenting with different spring rates front and rear is a key tuning tool in RC driving. Softer springs might work better at the front for traction, while stiffer springs at the rear improve cornering stability. This pair covers your rear suspension, so you could pair them with different front springs to dial in your exact setup preference.
  • What's the difference between XX-long and standard-length springs? — XX-long springs are designed for shocks with extended travel, meaning they compress and extend further than standard springs. This provides a larger usable suspension range, which is crucial for rough terrain driving, jumps, and scenarios where you need maximum suspension compliance. Standard springs would bottom out too quickly in these conditions.
