Overview

The Traxxas Springs, Front (White) (Progressive Rate) (2 pcs) TRX5857 are essential suspension components designed for RC enthusiasts looking to optimise their vehicle's handling and performance. These white progressive-rate springs are custom-wound by Traxxas to deliver responsive control and superior damping characteristics across a wide range of driving conditions. Whether you're a seasoned RC car UK competitor or a weekend basher, upgrading your suspension springs is one of the most effective ways to improve your RC model's performance on varied terrain.

These front springs are specifically engineered for Traxxas Ultra Shocks, making them an ideal choice for owners of compatible models including the Mini Maxx BL-2S and Slash HD XL-5 short course trucks. The progressive-rate design means the springs respond differently depending on the force applied—providing a softer, more responsive feel for small bumps whilst progressively stiffening to absorb harder impacts and landing forces. This dual-action approach gives drivers better feedback and control, whether they're navigating rocky terrain, jumping, or simply cruising. If you own a brushless RC truck or are looking to upgrade your suspension setup, these Traxxas springs represent genuine OEM quality components that will make a noticeable difference to your RC experience.

Sold as a pair and ready to install on compatible Traxxas vehicles, these springs offer excellent value for money and are backed by Traxxas's reputation for engineering excellence. Compatible with both the Mini Maxx BL-2S in all colours (black, orange, green, and blue) and the Slash HD XL-5 1:10 2WD RTR short course truck range, these springs are a smart investment for anyone wanting to fine-tune their ready to run RC setup.

Key Features

  • Progressive-Rate Design — The springs utilise a progressive-rate construction that provides a softer initial spring rate for small bumps and obstacles, then progressively increases in stiffness as more force is applied, delivering superior comfort at low speeds whilst maintaining impact absorption during hard landings and jumps.
  • Custom-Wound by Traxxas — These springs are manufactured to Traxxas's exacting specifications, ensuring consistent quality, durability and performance across the entire product range.
  • Optimised for Traxxas Ultra Shocks — Specifically designed to work with Traxxas Ultra Shock suspension systems, these springs provide the ideal spring rate for responsive handling and control.
  • Responsive Control for Small Bumps — The lower initial spring rate means your RC truck will maintain better traction on uneven surfaces and small obstacles, translating to smoother, more controlled driving and better feedback to the driver.
  • Enhanced Impact Absorption — When driving over jumps or landing from height, the progressive rate stiffens significantly to absorb the impact energy, protecting your suspension components and extending the life of your vehicle.
  • White Colour Coding — The white springs follow Traxxas's colour-coding system for spring rates, making it easy to identify and match suspension components across your fleet of RC vehicles.
  • Sold as a Pair — Each pack includes two springs, providing a complete replacement set for both front suspension arms of your RC truck or buggy.
  • Genuine Traxxas OEM Parts — These are authorised Traxxas original equipment manufacturer parts, ensuring perfect fitment and performance with compatible vehicles.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas Springs, Front (White) (Progressive Rate) demonstrate the engineering philosophy that goes into professional-grade RC suspension systems. Progressive-rate springs are a technology commonly found in high-end motorsport and racing, and Traxxas has adapted this proven engineering for their range of RC vehicles. The progressive design works by varying the spring's stiffness curve—initially softer to allow the suspension to compress easily over small bumps, then increasing in stiffness as compression increases. This creates a non-linear spring rate that adapts to driving conditions in real-time. For RC drivers in the UK, this means you get the best of both worlds: comfort and control on rough terrain, combined with the stability and impact protection needed for aggressive driving and jumping. The white springs are engineered to work in perfect harmony with Traxxas's proprietary Ultra Shock damper system, which uses oil-filled cylinders to provide consistent damping across a wide range of suspension movements. The combination of progressive springs and ultra shocks creates a suspension system capable of handling small stones and grass, medium-sized jumps, and even hard impacts from crashes. Build quality is typical of Traxxas components—these springs are made from high-quality steel with precise winding specifications to ensure they maintain their rate over thousands of compression cycles. Unlike cheaper aftermarket springs that may lose their characteristics quickly, genuine Traxxas springs retain their progressive characteristics throughout their service life.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What vehicles are these Traxxas springs compatible with? — These white progressive-rate springs (TRX5857) are compatible with Traxxas Mini Maxx BL-2S in all colours (black, orange, green, and blue) and the Traxxas Slash HD XL-5 1:10 2WD RTR short course truck in all available colours. They are designed to work with Traxxas Ultra Shock suspension systems, so ensure your vehicle is equipped with these shocks before purchasing.
  • What does progressive-rate mean and why does it matter? — A progressive-rate spring has a variable spring rate that increases as the spring compresses further. This means the spring is softer initially (for small bumps and obstacles) but becomes progressively stiffer as it compresses more (for larger impacts and jumps). This design provides better comfort and traction on rough ground whilst maintaining impact protection during aggressive driving, compared to traditional springs that have a constant, linear rate throughout their compression range.
  • Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, these are genuine Traxxas original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts supplied with the correct Traxxas part number TRX5857. Buying genuine Traxxas components ensures perfect fitment, consistent performance, and compatibility with your vehicle.
  • Why would I need to replace my springs? — Springs can wear over time, losing their original spring rate and becoming less responsive. If your RC truck feels less responsive to bumps, bounces excessively over jumps, or sits lower than it used to, worn springs may be the culprit. Replacing springs is often the first step in refreshing your suspension and improving vehicle handling. Springs may also be upgraded to different rates if you want to adjust your vehicle's ride characteristics for different terrain.
  • Will changing to these springs improve my RC truck's performance? — If you are replacing worn or damaged springs, yes—new springs will restore your vehicle's original handling characteristics. If you are upgrading from standard springs to progressive-rate springs, you will likely notice improved responsiveness and better control, particularly on rough terrain and during jumping. The exact improvement will depend on what springs your vehicle currently has fitted.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners? — These springs are suitable for all skill levels. They come pre-installed on compatible ready to run Traxxas vehicles, so beginners don't need to worry about selection. If you are replacing existing springs as a maintenance task, installation is straightforward with basic RC tools. The progressive-rate design actually makes these springs more forgiving for beginners, as they provide good control across a range of driving styles and speeds.
  • How long do these springs last? — Genuine Traxxas springs are engineered for durability and will maintain their progressive-rate characteristics through thousands of compression cycles. Lifespan depends on usage—casual weekend driving may see springs last many months, whilst frequent competitive use or aggressive jumping may require replacement sooner. Visual inspection can help identify worn springs: look for bends, permanent deformation, or loss of spring height compared to new springs.
