Overview

The Traxxas Half shafts, centre Front (Revo 3.3) (internal splined (1pc) / external splined (1pc) / centre Rear (internal splined (1pc) / external splined (1pc)) (plastic parts only) TRX5456 is an essential replacement drivetrain component for owners of the legendary Traxxas Revo 3.3 RC monster truck. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast running high-performance 1/10 scale vehicles across the UK or a dedicated basher who puts their RC car through demanding off-road terrain, half shafts are critical wear items that require periodic replacement to maintain optimal drivetrain performance. This genuine Traxxas spare part ensures your Revo 3.3 continues to deliver the explosive acceleration and reliable power transmission that has made it one of the most respected names in RC monster truck racing and recreational bashing.

Half shafts are the connecting elements within your RC car's drivetrain that transfer engine torque from the central differential to the wheels, absorbing tremendous stress during acceleration, cornering and impact. Over time, whether through aggressive driving, high-speed bashing, or competitive track use, these components can wear, break or strip, leading to loss of traction and drivetrain failure. The Traxxas Revo center half shaft set includes both front and rear replacements, providing complete drivetrain renewal for maximum reliability and performance restoration on your brushless or nitro-powered Revo 3.3 monster truck.

This replacement half shaft set comprises plastic parts designed specifically for the Revo 3.3 platform, offering a balance between durability and responsive handling characteristics that Traxxas engineers have perfected through years of competition and recreational RC car development. By choosing genuine Traxxas spare parts from RC Model Shop, you're investing in authentic, quality-engineered components that will restore your Revo 3.3 to factory performance standards, whether you're preparing for the next RC car UK competition or simply want reliable weekend bashing reliability.

Key Features

  • Complete Front and Rear Centre Half Shaft Set — This replacement component includes both front centre half shafts (one internal splined, one external splined) and rear centre half shafts (one internal splined, one external splined), providing complete drivetrain coverage so you don't need to purchase multiple separate items and can fully restore your Revo 3.3's power transmission system in one purchase.
  • Genuine Traxxas Engineering — Manufactured by Traxxas to OEM specifications and tolerances, these half shafts are designed to work perfectly with your Revo 3.3's transmission, differential and driveline geometry, ensuring seamless fitment and authentic performance characteristics without compatibility issues or fitment surprises.
  • Internal and External Splined Design — The included half shafts feature both internal splined and external splined configurations, providing the precise connection geometry needed for reliable torque transfer between your differential and wheel hubs, with splines cut to exacting standards for smooth engagement and minimal backlash.
  • Plastic Construction — These half shafts utilise lightweight plastic materials as specified by Traxxas, balancing durability with weight efficiency to maintain your Revo 3.3's handling characteristics and responsiveness while providing sufficient strength for aggressive driving and off-road use.
  • Direct OEM Replacement — Specifically engineered for the Revo 3.3 platform, this spare part replaces worn, damaged or stripped half shafts without requiring modifications, adjustments or compatibility workarounds, making installation straightforward for experienced RC enthusiasts and hobby technicians.
  • Reliable Drivetrain Performance — Restoring worn half shafts brings back crisp acceleration response, eliminates drivetrain slop, improves traction control and eliminates the frustration of power loss during crucial moments on the track or during trail bashing adventures across UK terrain.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas Revo 3.3 is one of the most powerful and capable 1/10 scale RC monster trucks ever produced, combining either brushless electric or nitro engine power with a sophisticated four-wheel-drive drivetrain and independent suspension geometry designed for extreme performance. The half shafts are critical components within this system, responsible for transmitting maximum torque from the centrally-mounted differential to both front and rear wheels simultaneously. The centre half shaft set components feature precision-machined splines—both internal and external profiles—that mesh with corresponding splines in the differential output shafts and wheel hub carriers. These splines must maintain exact tolerances to ensure smooth power delivery, minimise rotational play (backlash) and prevent the stripping or slipping that occurs when half shafts become worn through repeated acceleration cycles, aggressive cornering loads or impact damage from jumps and high-speed bashings. The plastic construction selected by Traxxas represents a carefully engineered choice that balances weight savings (improving acceleration and handling response) against durability requirements, with the material formulation selected to resist the torsional stress generated by both brushless motors delivering 2000+ watts of continuous power and high-displacement nitro engines producing comparable or greater torque outputs. Whether you're running a 3S or higher-voltage LiPo battery system on a brushless setup or pushing your nitro-powered Revo 3.3 to the limit on the track, these half shafts can handle the extreme drivetrain forces that make the Revo legendary in the RC car UK community for competition racing and recreational performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will these half shafts fit my Traxxas Revo 3.3? — Yes, these are genuine Traxxas replacement components engineered specifically for the Revo 3.3 platform and will install directly without modifications or compatibility concerns, restoring your model to factory performance standards.
  • What does internal splined and external splined mean? — Internal splined half shafts have grooves cut into the shaft surface that mesh with corresponding external splines on differential output shafts, while external splined half shafts feature raised ridges that fit into corresponding internal splines on wheel hub carriers; together they create a secure, torque-transferring connection with minimal play.
  • How often should I replace my RC car's half shafts? — Half shaft replacement intervals depend on driving intensity and style; aggressive racing or competitive driving may require replacement every 20-30 hours of operation, whilst recreational weekend bashing users might see 50+ hours of life before replacement becomes necessary, with earlier replacement needed if you observe drivetrain slop, power loss during acceleration or visible damage to spline profiles.
  • Are these plastic half shafts strong enough for high-power brushless setups? — Yes, Traxxas specifically engineers these plastic half shafts for the extreme torque outputs of brushless motors running on 3S and higher LiPo batteries as well as nitro engines, with the plastic formulation selected to handle continuous power delivery and impact loads whilst maintaining weight efficiency and responsive handling characteristics.
  • Can I upgrade to metal half shafts instead? — Whilst metal half shaft upgrades are available from aftermarket manufacturers, the genuine Traxxas plastic components are engineered specifically for your Revo 3.3's geometry and perform optimally within the system; metal upgrades may alter handling balance or create compatibility issues with differential components.
  • What is the difference between centre half shafts and other drivetrain components? — Centre half shafts specifically connect the central differential to the front and rear axle carriers, whilst universal joints and CV axles handle the additional connections; this centre half shaft set addresses wear in the primary power transmission path from engine to wheels.
