Key Features
- Steel Constant-Velocity Design — The CV (constant-velocity) joint technology means the driveshaft maintains smooth, efficient power transfer at any suspension angle or articulation position, eliminating vibration and binding that can reduce performance and cause premature wear.
- Ultimate Torque Handling — Specifically engineered for high-power brushless applications, this steel construction handles extreme torque loads that would destroy inferior driveshafts, making it ideal for upgraded or competition-spec RC cars.
- Efficient Power Transfer — The precision engineering ensures minimal power loss between the motor and wheels, translating to faster acceleration, better handling and improved overall vehicle response on the track or trail.
- Bearing-Secured Drive Pins — On the axle side, precision bearings securely hold the drive pins in place, preventing them from backing out under extreme cornering forces, acceleration or deceleration, which is critical for reliability during extended RC sessions.
- Heavy-Duty Steel Drive Cups — Large-bore drive pins are press-fit on the differential side and slot into robust steel drive cups, creating an incredibly strong connection that resists failure even under the most demanding driving conditions.
- Rubber-Sealed Bearings — The included bearings feature rubber seals that protect against dirt, dust, mud and moisture ingress, keeping your driveshaft functioning smoothly whether you're bashing in wet UK weather or racing at your local club track.
- Black-Oxide Protective Coating — A durable black-oxide finish coats the drive gear, providing excellent rust and corrosion resistance that helps maintain component longevity and performance, especially important in the UK's damp climate.
- Full-Range Articulation — Traxxas' unique splined telescoping design allows the driveshaft to compress and extend freely throughout the full suspension travel range, meaning you never need to artificially limit your suspension geometry to protect the drivetrain.
- Shaft-Only Component — This is the driveshaft itself without additional components, allowing you to replace just the worn or damaged section and save money, or upgrade your existing setup with premium Traxxas components piecemeal.
Technical Performance
This Traxxas steel constant-velocity driveshaft represents the pinnacle of drivetrain engineering for high-performance RC vehicles. The steel construction is substantially stronger than plastic or composite alternatives, providing superior strength-to-weight ratio and the ability to handle the extreme torque outputs of modern brushless motor systems. The 58mm length is precisely calculated for the T-Maxx's front centre shaft mounting position, ensuring perfect geometric fit and optimal power delivery. The constant-velocity joint technology is critical for maintaining smooth, efficient power transfer at any suspension angle—when your RC truck is compressed in a landing jump or fully extended while climbing, the CV joint prevents the binding and vibration that inferior driveshafts experience. The bearing design on the axle side, combined with heavy-duty steel drive cups and large-bore press-fit drive pins on the differential side, creates a drivetrain assembly capable of withstanding the punishing torque loads imposed by contemporary high-KV brushless motors. The rubber-sealed bearings protect against contamination from dirt, mud and water, ensuring consistent performance whether you're bashing in dry summer conditions or navigating muddy trails during the UK's wetter months. The black-oxide coating resists rust and corrosion, maintaining component integrity and aesthetic appearance over extended periods of use. With the splined telescoping design, there is never any need to limit your suspension travel to protect the drivetrain, meaning you can dial in your suspension setup purely for handling performance without compromising drivetrain safety. This component is engineered for reliability and performance that satisfies the demands of serious RC enthusiasts who refuse to compromise on quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this steel CV driveshaft suitable for my brushless T-Maxx? — Yes, this component is specifically engineered for high-power brushless applications and offers the ultimate in torque handling and efficient power transfer. If you're running a brushless motor on your T-Maxx, this steel CV driveshaft is an ideal upgrade from stock components and will significantly improve durability and performance.
- Will this driveshaft fit my T-Maxx? — This driveshaft is specifically designed for the T-Maxx's front centre shaft position with a 58mm length. However, you will need to ensure your vehicle is fitted with Traxxas 8654-series 17mm splined wheel hubs and 7758-series 17mm wheel nuts for compatibility. It does not fit models with WideMaxx suspension installed.
- What makes a constant-velocity driveshaft better than a standard driveshaft? — Constant-velocity joints maintain smooth, efficient power transfer regardless of the suspension angle or articulation position. This means no binding, no vibration, and no loss of power during suspension compression or extension. For RC vehicles with full suspension travel and aggressive driving, CV driveshafts deliver superior performance and reliability compared to traditional rigid shafts.
- How do I know if I need to replace my driveshaft? — Signs that you need a driveshaft replacement include visible cracks or bending in the shaft, clicking or popping noises from the drivetrain under acceleration, loss of power delivery to the wheels, or visible wear on the drive pins or cups. Regular inspection of your drivetrain components is important, especially after heavy use or crashes.
- Why is the steel construction important? — Steel offers superior strength compared to plastic or composite materials, allowing the driveshaft to handle the extreme torque outputs of brushless motors without flexing or failing. For serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and performance, steel components are the industry standard for high-power applications.
- What does the rubber-sealed bearing protection do? — The rubber seals keep dirt, dust, mud and water out of the bearing assembly. This is especially important in the UK where wet and muddy conditions are common, as contamination inside the bearings can cause increased friction, wear and eventual failure. The seals extend component life significantly.
- Can I use this driveshaft if my T-Maxx doesn't have WideMaxx suspension? — This component specifically fits the V.1 narrow Maxx and will not work with models equipped with WideMaxx suspension installed. Check your T-Maxx specification before ordering to ensure compatibility.
