Overview
The Traxxas Springs, shock (natural finish) (GT-Maxx) (1.400 rate, Blue stripe) (2) TRX10243 are premium replacement shock springs designed specifically for fine-tuning your RC vehicle's suspension performance. Whether you're a serious RC enthusiast in the UK looking to optimise your short-course truck setup or a weekend basher seeking better handling characteristics, these progressive-rate shock springs deliver the responsive control and impact absorption you need to conquer any terrain. As an authorised Traxxas retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM parts that meet the exacting standards expected by competitive RC drivers and recreational users alike.
GT-Maxx shock springs are engineered using Traxxas's proven progressive-rate technology, which means the spring provides a softer initial response for small bumps and obstacles, then progressively stiffens to effectively absorb harder impacts and larger jumps. This dual-nature performance characteristic makes GT-Maxx springs incredibly versatile across different driving conditions and vehicle configurations. Whether you're running a lighter Slash or a heavier Maxx platform, adjusting your spring rate allows you to compensate for vehicle weight and achieve the perfect balance between comfort and control. These springs are compatible with 1/8-scale Traxxas models including the Maxx Slash range, making them an essential spare part for any serious RC enthusiast operating brushless RC short-course trucks in the UK.
The 1.400 rate specification positions these springs as a firmer option within the GT-Maxx range, suitable for heavier vehicle configurations, more aggressive driving styles, or terrain that demands additional suspension support. The natural finish coating ensures durability whilst the distinctive blue stripe makes identification quick and easy in your spare parts collection. Sold as a pair, these springs deliver consistent, matched performance across both sides of your vehicle's suspension system.
Key Features
- Progressive-Rate Design — The springs are custom-wound with a progressive-rate construction that delivers a soft initial compression for absorbing small bumps and terrain imperfections, then progressively increases stiffness to handle larger impacts and jumps, providing versatile performance across all driving conditions without sacrificing comfort or control.
- 1.400 Spring Rate — This higher spring rate number indicates a firmer spring specification, making these springs ideal for heavier RC vehicle configurations, drivers who prefer a stiffer suspension setup, or those tackling challenging terrain that demands additional support and resistance to bottoming out.
- 139mm Length Specification — Purpose-designed for GT-Maxx shock units, these springs deliver perfect fitment and consistent performance with genuine Traxxas suspension components, ensuring your shocks operate at their design specifications.
- Natural Finish Coating — The natural finish provides excellent corrosion resistance and durability, protecting your springs during outdoor RC driving whilst maintaining a professional appearance that complements OEM Traxxas suspension components.
- Blue Stripe Identification — The distinctive blue stripe provides instant visual identification of the spring rate, allowing you to quickly identify and match springs when maintaining your RC car suspension or comparing spring rates during tuning sessions.
- Supplied as a Matched Pair — Two springs are included in each pack, providing matched suspension performance across both sides of your vehicle, which is critical for balanced handling and predictable vehicle behaviour during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
- Genuine Traxxas OEM Parts — These are official Traxxas replacement parts manufactured to the exact specifications demanded by the company's engineering team, ensuring compatibility and reliability with your Traxxas RC models.
- Vehicle Configuration Compensation — The ability to swap spring rates allows you to tune your suspension to match different vehicle weights, payload configurations, and driving scenarios, giving you granular control over your RC truck's handling characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GT-Maxx shock springs represent the pinnacle of suspension tuning technology for 1/8-scale short-course trucks like the Maxx and Maxx Slash platforms. The progressive-rate engineering provides an intelligent suspension response that adapts to varying terrain conditions in real time. Unlike traditional linear springs that maintain consistent resistance throughout compression, progressive-rate springs begin with a lower spring constant, allowing the suspension to respond quickly to small bumps and washboard-style terrain without harshness. As the spring compresses further, the effective spring rate increases, providing secondary stiffness that prevents the suspension from bottoming out during massive jumps or high-impact events. This engineering approach eliminates the traditional trade-off between comfort and capability. The 1.400-rate specification delivers approximately 40% more stiffness compared to lower-rate options, making these springs particularly suited to drivers operating heavier vehicle setups, carrying additional payload, or preferring a more resistant suspension feel. The natural finish coating resists corrosion from moisture, dirt, and the elements encountered during outdoor RC driving throughout the UK. With proper maintenance and care, GT-Maxx springs deliver thousands of kilometres of reliable suspension performance, making them an economical and essential spare part for any serious RC driver running brushless or electric-powered Traxxas models.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does spring rate mean and how do I know which rate I need? — Spring rate refers to the stiffness of the spring; the higher the number, the firmer the spring. The 1.400 rate indicates these are firmer springs suited to heavier RC vehicle configurations, more aggressive driving, or terrain that demands additional suspension support. Lower rates (1.036, 1.250, 1.350) are softer and better for lighter vehicles or smoother terrain. You should match your spring rate to your vehicle weight and driving style.
- Are these springs compatible with my Traxxas RC car? — These GT-Maxx shock springs are specifically designed for Traxxas models using GT-Maxx shocks, including the Maxx and Maxx Slash platforms (including TRX102076-4-RNR Rock N Roll, TRX102076-4-BLUE, TRX102076-4-RED, and TRX102076-4-GRN variants). Always verify your vehicle uses GT-Maxx shocks before purchasing, as compatibility is specific to shock type and length.
- Why would I want to upgrade or change my shock springs? — Changing spring rates is a fundamental suspension tuning technique in RC racing and recreational driving. If your vehicle feels wallowy or bottoms out easily, you need a firmer (higher rate) spring like this 1.400-rate option. If your vehicle rides too harshly, you'd select a softer (lower rate) spring. Spring selection also compensates for different vehicle weights, payload changes, and terrain conditions, allowing you to optimise handling for specific driving scenarios.
- What is the difference between GT-Maxx springs and other Traxxas spring options? — GT-Maxx springs feature progressive-rate technology and are specifically engineered for GT-Maxx shock absorbers found on 1/8-scale short-course trucks. The progressive-rate design provides responsive control for small bumps with increased stiffness for larger impacts, distinguishing them from traditional linear-rate springs. Different models and generations of Traxxas vehicles use different shock types and spring specifications, so compatibility depends on your specific vehicle's suspension architecture.
- Do I need any special tools to install these springs? — Installation typically requires basic RC maintenance tools including a small screwdriver and potentially a spring compressor for safety during installation. Consult your Traxxas vehicle's manual for specific installation instructions, as shock spring replacement is generally considered an intermediate-level maintenance task suitable for experienced RC enthusiasts with basic mechanical knowledge.
- How long do shock springs last before needing replacement? — Properly maintained GT-Maxx springs will deliver thousands of kilometres of reliable performance. However, springs can lose stiffness over time due to metal fatigue, or they may require replacement after extensive use, impacts, or if you wish to change your suspension tuning characteristics. Regular inspection for visible damage or loss of performance is recommended.
