Overview

The Traxxas Springs, shock (natural finish) (GT-Maxx) (1.150 rate, White stripe) (2) TRX10241 are precision-engineered replacement shock springs designed for demanding RC enthusiasts who want to fine-tune their suspension performance. Whether you're a competitive racer, weekend basher, or dedicated RC car UK hobbyist, these GT-Maxx shock springs offer the tuning flexibility you need to optimise your vehicle's handling characteristics across different track conditions and driving styles. Built to Traxxas's exacting standards, these springs are custom-wound to deliver responsive control and reliable performance on every run.

As a replacement suspension component for Traxxas Maxx and Slash models, these shock springs are essential for maintaining peak performance or adjusting your setup to match your driving preferences and vehicle configuration. The natural finish provides durability whilst the progressive-rate design ensures your RC truck or short course vehicle handles both minor bumps and major impacts with consistent, predictable performance. If you're serious about getting the best handling from your brushless RC vehicle, suspension tuning with the right spring rate is a critical investment.

RC Model Shop stocks the full range of Traxxas GT-Maxx shock springs in various rates to support every type of driver, from beginners learning suspension tuning to experienced competitors optimising their race setup. The 1.150 rate with white stripe offers a middle-ground option that works well for a variety of conditions and vehicle configurations.

Key Features

  • Progressive-Rate Design — These springs are custom-wound with a progressive rate that provides responsive control when handling small bumps and obstacles, whilst also featuring a progressively stiffer rate to effectively absorb harder impacts and maintain suspension compliance during aggressive driving. This means your RC vehicle stays planted and predictable whether you're navigating terrain delicately or pushing hard through rough ground.
  • Natural Finish Construction — The natural finish delivers durability and corrosion resistance whilst maintaining a professional appearance, ensuring your suspension components remain reliable through multiple driving seasons and various weather conditions associated with UK RC car driving.
  • 1.150 Spring Rate — This specific spring rate offers balanced suspension tuning suitable for a wide range of driving conditions and vehicle weights. The higher the rate number, the firmer the spring, so the 1.150 rate sits between softer and stiffer options, making it versatile for drivers who want predictable handling without extreme stiffness or excessive compliance.
  • White Stripe Identification — The white stripe colour coding system allows you to quickly identify the spring rate at a glance, essential when you're managing multiple spring sets for different track conditions or when switching between vehicles in your RC collection.
  • Sold in Pairs — Each package contains two springs, providing complete front and rear suspension replacement or allowing you to maintain matched pairs for consistent handling across your vehicle's suspension geometry.
  • Compatible with GT-Maxx Shocks — These springs are specifically engineered to work with Traxxas GT-Maxx shock absorbers, ensuring perfect fitment and optimal performance without compatibility issues or modifications required.
  • Suspension Tuning Capability — By offering different rates, these springs allow you to compensate for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, making them invaluable for drivers running modified setups or adjusting their RC truck for seasonal conditions and track-specific requirements.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas GT-Maxx shock springs represent precision engineering at the heart of high-performance RC suspension systems. These springs are custom-wound using advanced manufacturing techniques to deliver the progressive-rate characteristics that serious RC enthusiasts demand. The 1.150 rate sits within the mid-range of the GT-Maxx spring lineup, providing a balanced approach to suspension tuning that works effectively across different driving scenarios without requiring extreme stiffness that might compromise ride quality or make the vehicle difficult to control. For 1/8 scale RC vehicles like the Traxxas Maxx Slash short course truck, suspension tuning is critical to extracting maximum performance, and selecting the correct spring rate is one of the most impactful modifications you can make. The natural finish coating protects the springs from corrosion whilst maintaining their integrity through countless compression cycles. Whether you're running a brushless RC vehicle at high speed or navigating technical terrain, these springs work in concert with the GT-Maxx shock absorber design to provide the responsive handling and impact absorption that separates competitive setups from casual basher configurations. The progressive-rate design is particularly effective because it delivers softer initial compliance for smooth handling over small obstacles, whilst the increasing stiffness as compression increases provides support during hard landings and aggressive cornering manoeuvres.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the 1.150 spring rate mean, and how does it compare to other available rates? — The spring rate number indicates the stiffness of the spring; higher numbers mean stiffer springs. The 1.150 rate offers a balanced middle ground between softer rates like 1.036 and stiffer rates like 1.250 or 1.400, making it suitable for general-purpose RC driving and a wide variety of track conditions. Softer springs provide better ride quality but may feel unstable during hard cornering, whilst stiffer springs improve control but can feel harsh over small bumps.
  • Are these springs suitable for beginners to RC car suspension tuning? — Yes, absolutely. These springs are an excellent starting point for learning about suspension tuning. The 1.150 rate is a balanced option that provides good handling characteristics for most drivers, and if you find your vehicle feels too soft or too stiff, you can experiment with different rates to understand how spring rates affect performance. This is one of the most fundamental and effective tuning adjustments in RC racing.
  • How do I know if I need a softer or stiffer spring rate for my vehicle? — If your RC car feels bouncy or unstable after landings, you likely need a stiffer rate. If it feels too harsh or doesn't absorb bumps smoothly, you need a softer rate. Additionally, heavier vehicle configurations typically require stiffer springs to maintain proper suspension geometry under load, whilst lighter setups can use softer springs. Start with the 1.150 rate and adjust from there based on your observations.
  • What vehicles are these springs compatible with? — These springs are designed for Traxxas models equipped with GT-Maxx shock absorbers, primarily the Traxxas Maxx Slash 1/8 4WD 6S brushless short course truck, which is one of the most popular high-performance RC vehicles in the UK market. Always verify compatibility before purchasing replacement suspension components.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on the same vehicle? — Technically yes, some drivers experiment with different rates front and rear to dial in specific handling characteristics, but this is an advanced tuning technique. For most drivers and applications, matching spring rates front and rear provide the most predictable and consistent handling.
  • How often should I replace my shock springs? — With normal use, shock springs last many seasons and don't require frequent replacement. However, if you notice your suspension feels less responsive, the springs may be fatigued. Replacement is straightforward and these springs are affordable enough that many competitive drivers maintain multiple sets for different conditions.
