  • Spring Tension Adjustment — Adjust steering wheel and throttle trigger spring tension from the external housing without disassembly, enabling fine-tuning of control feel and responsiveness to suit personal preference and different driving conditions.
  • Mechanical ATL (Adjustable Throttle Limit) — Decrease the total travel distance of the brake (push) side of the throttle trigger when precision brake modulation is required, useful for ultra-sensitive vehicles or when training new drivers in smooth throttle control.
  • Bidirectional Communication Protocol — The T-FHSS system employs a bidirectional communication handshake between transmitter and receiver, ensuring robust signal integrity and enabling telemetry data transmission from the vehicle back to the transmitter for real-time monitoring of system status and vehicle parameters.

Technical Performance

The Futaba T4PM Plus represents a genuine leap forward in surface radio technology for UK RC enthusiasts. The transmitter operates at 2.4 GHz with 100mW EIRP (Equivalent Isotropic Radiated Power) output, delivering a maximum operating range of 100 metres under optimal atmospheric conditions—sufficient for everything from tight indoor track environments to large-scale outdoor racing venues. The wheel-type transmitter design provides proportional control across all four channels, with dual safety systems including failsafe (F/S) and bind failsafe (B-F/S) to prevent loss-of-signal accidents, plus ID verification to prevent signal cross-contamination between multiple radios operating simultaneously. Power comes from three AA dry cells (4.5V total) with a maximum current draw of 150mA, providing extended operating sessions without the complexity of charging lithium batteries—a practical advantage for field use where spare AA cells are universally available. The included R334SBS receiver is a marvel of compact engineering, measuring just 33.9 × 22.3 × 11.3mm and weighing only 7.5g, yet supporting the full spectrum of T-FHSS SR, T-FHSS and S-FHSS protocols. The receiver accepts operating voltages between 3.7 and 7.4V DC, providing flexibility across various battery configurations from 1S LiPo through to 2S LiPo or traditional NiMH packs, ensuring compatibility with virtually any modern RC surface vehicle. The 1/2? dipole transmission antenna employs proven Futaba design principles refined through decades of competitive RC racing, delivering consistent signal quality across the full operating range regardless of antenna orientation relative to the receiver. The transmitter's LCD display screen, combined with the intuitive 4-axis JOG navigation button, makes rapid parameter adjustment straightforward even during event time pressure. The extensive mixing capabilities—steering mix, brake mix, gyro mix, 4WS mix, dual ESC mix and CPS-1 lighting control—combined with 40-model memory slots and full customisation of switches and digital trim functions, provide the depth of feature set normally found only on professional-grade transmitters costing significantly more. This is serious RC equipment built to the exacting standards expected by British RC racers and enthusiasts.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Futaba T4PM Plus suitable for RC racing beginners? — Whilst the T4PM Plus is technically suitable for beginners aged 14 and above, it is better described as an intermediate-to-advanced system rather than an entry-level transmitter. The wealth of features, mixing functions and 40-model memory slots are genuinely useful for experienced racers optimising multiple vehicles, but may feel overwhelming to someone learning basic RC car control. Absolute beginners might find a simpler 2-channel or 3-channel system less intimidating; however, if you plan to progress seriously in RC racing or enjoy experimenting with vehicle setup, the T4PM Plus's extensive customisation options represent excellent long-term value and will grow with your skills and ambitions.
  • What battery does the Futaba T4PM Plus transmitter require? — The transmitter requires three AA penlight dry cells (4.5V total) mounted in the included dry battery holder. The system draws a maximum of 150mA, providing extended runtime—typically many hours of continuous operation from a fresh set of AA batteries. This dry-cell design offers significant convenience advantages over rechargeable lithium systems because spare AA batteries are universally available from supermarkets and petrol stations, eliminating dependency on charging equipment during multi-day competition events or intensive testing sessions.
  • Is the R334SBS receiver compatible with all RC surface vehicles? — The R334SBS receiver is a four-channel system suitable for any RC surface vehicle (car, truck, crawler or boat) designed for 2.4 GHz T-FHSS compatible radio systems. The receiver accepts operating voltages from 3.7 to 7.4V DC, accommodating everything from 1S lithium packs through 2S LiPo batteries to traditional NiMH systems. However, note that some vintage Futaba receivers (specifically the R304SB and R304SB-E) are not compatible with the T-FHSS SR (Super Response) mode, so if you own alternative receivers you wish to use, verify compatibility with the T-FHSS SR system before purchasing.
  • Can I use this radio system with Kyosho Mini-Z vehicles? — Yes, the T4PM Plus incorporates dedicated Mini-Z compatibility modes. By switching to MINIZ system mode in the receiver menu, you can operate Kyosho Mini-Z Evo vehicles using the separate RA-42 receiver module (purchased separately). Alternatively, the FHSS MINI (MI-FH) system mode supports non-Evo Mini-Z models via the FS-RM005 module (also purchased separately). This flexibility makes the T4PM Plus genuinely multi-platform capable, eliminating the need for separate transmitters when expanding across different RC vehicle types.
  • What is the maximum operating range of the T4PM Plus radio system? — The manufacturer specifies a maximum operating range of 100 metres under optimum conditions, which is more than sufficient for outdoor circuit racing, large-scale off-road venues and even sizeable indoor facilities. The 2.4 GHz T-FHSS (Frequency-Hopping Spread Spectrum) system automatically selects appropriate frequency channels and minimises interference from WiFi, Bluetooth and other 2.4 GHz systems, ensuring reliable signal even in electrically noisy environments. The one exception is when using MINIZ system mode, which may operate at reduced range—check specific documentation if Mini-Z operation is your primary application.
  • What Futaba ESCs are compatible with the ESC-Link (MC-LINK) function? — The ESC-Link function works with Futaba speed controllers including the MC970CR, MC850C, MC851C, MC602C and MC402CR. This integration allows you to adjust ESC variable frequency and other parameters directly from the transmitter without requiring separate computer programming equipment or USB connections, dramatically streamlining the setup process for tuning ESC behaviour on the vehicle.
  • How many model setups can I store on the T4PM Plus? — The transmitter provides 40 dedicated model memory slots, with each model profile supporting custom names using up to 10 letters, numbers and symbols. The model copy function allows you to duplicate existing setups and modify them, effectively multiplying your usable configurations and enabling rapid testing of setup variations without starting from scratch with each new configuration.
  • Does the T4PM Plus support telemetry data from the vehicle? — The transmitter supports bidirectional T-FHSS telemetry communication, enabling real-time data transmission from the receiver back to the transmitter. However, the T-FHSS SR (Super Response) mode operates without telemetry functionality—you must choose between SR mode (maximum processing speed for racing response) or standard T-FHSS mode (telemetry enabled). This is not a limitation but rather a deliberate design choice prioritising either response speed or real-time data monitoring depending on your immediate needs.
  • Is this a ready-to-run system, or do I need additional equipment? — The T4PM Plus is supplied complete with the transmitter, R334SBS receiver, dry battery holder and mini screwdriver, making it a ready-to-operate system requiring only three AA batteries for the transmitter to function immediately. To control an actual RC vehicle, you will need to bind the receiver to an RC car, truck, boat or crawler equipped with compatible servos and ESC; the radio system itself operates independently and is not model-specific, making it ideal for controlling multiple vehicles or upgrading an existing RC platform with professional-grade radio control.
  • What makes the T4PM Plus different from other Futaba surface radios? — The T4PM Plus specifically incorporates the T-FHSS SR (Super Response) system that increases processing speed beyond standard T-FHSS, delivering noticeably faster transmitter-to-receiver communication for more responsive vehicle control during competitive racing. The combination of 40-model memory, extensive mixing functions (steering mix, brake mix, gyro mix, 4WS mix, dual ESC mix), ESC-Link integration with Futaba speed controllers, advanced drive aids (TH A.B.S, throttle acceleration, throttle/steering speed control) and support for both standard Futaba receivers and Kyosho Mini-Z systems places the T4PM Plus at the premium end of the surface radio market, justifying the investment for serious racers and multi-vehicle enthusiasts who require flexibility and advanced customisation.

  • As soon as your order is on its way we will send you a tracking number by email. If you provide your mobile number at checkout we will also send delivery updates straight to your phone so you can keep an eye on progress.
  • If a product is marked as "Dispatched within 3 working days" delivery usually takes around 3 to 5 working days from when your order is placed.
  • For customers in Inverness and other parts of the Scottish Highlands deliveries can take up to 2 working days even if you select next day delivery as couriers do not currently offer a guaranteed next day service to those areas.
