Key Features
- Hard-Anodized Aluminium Construction — The shock body is precision-manufactured from hard-anodized aluminium, which provides exceptional durability and corrosion resistance. The hard-anodize process creates a protective oxide layer that withstands the demands of intense RC driving, whether you're racing or bashing, ensuring your shocks maintain their performance over extended periods of use.
- PTFE Coating for Slick Damping Action — The aluminium shock bodies are coated with PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene), creating an ultra-smooth surface that delivers the slickest damping action available in the RC hobby. This coating reduces friction between the shock shaft and seal, resulting in more responsive and consistent suspension behaviour throughout your driving.
- 13mm Bore Capacity — The generous 13mm bore holds over 70% more shock oil than Traxxas Ultra Shocks, allowing for superior oil volume and thermal management. This larger capacity means your shocks can absorb energy more effectively, dissipate heat more efficiently, and maintain consistent damping characteristics even during extended driving sessions or intense competition.
- Titanium-Nitride Coated Shaft — The shock shaft features a slick titanium-nitride coating that resists scuffing and increases overall durability. This coating effectively eliminates stiction (static friction), ensuring smooth, predictable suspension action from the moment you power up your RC car through the final run of the day.
- X-Ring Seals for Superior Oil Retention — Advanced X-ring seals keep shock oil securely inside the shock body whilst preventing dirt and contaminants from entering. This sealed design maintains smooth, consistent damping performance and significantly extends the service life of your shocks, making them reliable through muddy terrain, sandy tracks, and dusty conditions.
- Easy Spring Preload Adjustment — Spring preload and ride height changes are accomplished simply by turning the threaded spring collars, allowing you to fine-tune your suspension setup in seconds without requiring specialised tools. This user-friendly design makes it simple to adapt your RC vehicle's handling characteristics to different track conditions or driving styles.
- Locking Spring Retainer System — The lower spring retainers are held securely in place with a locking screw, preventing spring collar movement during aggressive driving and ensuring your suspension geometry remains consistent throughout your run.
- 30-Weight Pure Silicone Shock Oil Included — Each pair of shocks comes with premium 30-weight pure silicone shock oil, giving you everything needed to set up your suspension for plush, responsive damping action right out of the box.
- Sold as Single Unit — This listing is for one individual shock body, allowing you to replace worn shocks one at a time or gradually upgrade your suspension system. For a complete four-wheel upgrade, you'll need to purchase additional units.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTX shock range represents a quantum leap forward in 1/10 scale RC suspension engineering. The combination of hard-anodized aluminium construction, PTFE coating, and titanium-nitride shaft treatment creates a shock system that outperforms conventional alternatives in every measurable way. The 13mm bore design is significantly larger than standard options, permitting substantially greater oil capacity—over 70% more than Ultra Shocks—which translates directly into superior heat dissipation and more consistent damping performance. The X-ring seal system ensures that the premium silicone shock oil stays where it belongs, maintaining the precise viscosity characteristics necessary for smooth suspension action across varying track temperatures and driving intensities. Whether you're piloting a brushless 4WD RC monster truck across a bashing course or competing on a technical circuit track, these shocks deliver the responsive, planted handling that distinguishes premium RC vehicles from entry-level alternatives. The PTFE coating eliminates the phenomenon of stiction, which is the initial resistance that occurs when shock shafts begin moving—this means your suspension responds instantly and predictably to track inputs, providing superior feedback and control. For RC enthusiasts in the UK seeking to upgrade their existing vehicle or replace worn shocks with genuine Traxxas components, the GTX shock represents the gold-standard choice for serious performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Traxxas models is this GTX shock body compatible with? — This GTX shock body (TRX7765R) is specifically designed for the Traxxas X-Maxx range, including the X-Maxx Belted 4WD Brushless RTR 8S Monster Truck in all colour options (Orange, Blue, Red, and Green), the X-Maxx Ultimate (Blue X and Green X versions), and the X-Monster Chassis. If you own one of these models, you can confidently order this replacement shock body knowing it's engineered specifically for your vehicle.
- Is this a complete shock assembly or just the body? — This is a replacement shock body only. You're receiving the hard-anodized aluminium body with PTFE coating. Springs are sold separately and must be purchased independently if you need a complete shock assembly. If you're replacing a worn-out shock, you may be able to transfer your existing springs and internal components, or you can purchase complete GTX shock assemblies from Traxxas if you need everything included.
- Why should I upgrade to GTX shocks from standard shocks? — The GTX shock range offers several significant performance advantages: the 13mm bore holds over 70% more oil than Ultra Shocks, meaning better heat management and more consistent damping across longer driving sessions. The PTFE coating provides a dramatically smoother damping action with zero stiction, translating to more responsive and predictable suspension behaviour. The titanium-nitride coated shaft resists scuffing and eliminates the friction that degrades performance over time. The X-ring seals keep oil in and dirt out, maintaining performance in muddy, sandy, and dusty conditions. For RC enthusiasts serious about maximising their vehicle's handling potential, GTX shocks are the recognised upgrade choice amongst UK RC racers and bashers.
- What colour is this shock body? — This shock body is red-anodised, providing a vibrant, durable finish that resists corrosion and maintains its appearance through extensive use. The red colour complements the appearance of Traxxas X-Maxx Red model vehicles and works well as a custom upgrade on other builds.
- How do I adjust ride height and spring preload? — The threaded spring collars allow simple adjustment by turning them by hand—no special tools required. Turning the collars adjusts both the spring preload and ride height of your vehicle simultaneously. This user-friendly design means you can fine-tune your suspension setup in seconds to adapt to different track conditions or driving preferences.
- What shock oil is recommended, and is it included? — Traxxas recommends 30-weight pure silicone shock oil, which is included with complete GTX shock assemblies. For individual body replacements, verify whether oil is included with your specific purchase. The pure silicone formula provides optimal viscosity for smooth damping across temperature ranges typical in UK RC driving.
- Can I use these shocks on models other than Traxxas X-Maxx? — This shock body is specifically engineered for Traxxas models listed in the compatibility section. Using them on incompatible vehicles may result in improper fitment or performance. Always verify compatibility with your specific model before ordering.
- Do I need to purchase four shock bodies to upgrade my entire vehicle? — Yes, if you want to upgrade all four corners of your RC car, you'll need to purchase four individual shock bodies (or two pairs if GTX shocks are sold in pairs as complete assemblies). This listing is for one piece, so you can upgrade at your own pace or replace worn shocks gradually.
- How long do GTX shocks typically last? — With proper maintenance and the durable hard-anodized aluminium construction, X-ring seals, and protective coatings, GTX shocks offer extended service life compared to standard options. Regular cleaning after muddy or dusty driving sessions and occasional shock oil changes will keep them performing optimally for seasons of RC driving.
