Overview
The Traxxas Spring, shock Red (GTR) (5.4 rate Pink) (1 pair) TRX5443 is an essential suspension tuning component for anyone running a Traxxas GTR shock system on their 1/10 scale RC car. Whether you're a serious competitor looking to fine-tune your vehicle's handling characteristics or a weekend basher seeking to optimise suspension performance, these replacement springs offer the precision engineering that Traxxas is renowned for across the RC hobby in the UK. GTR springs are engineered to provide consistent, predictable performance across a wide range of track conditions and vehicle configurations, making them indispensable for any RC enthusiast serious about maximising their car's potential.
Suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to improve your RC car's performance without replacing major components. The spring rate directly influences how your vehicle sits on the track, how it handles during acceleration and braking, and how it responds in corners. By selecting the correct spring rate for your specific vehicle weight and driving style, you can achieve superior grip, reduced body roll, and more responsive handling characteristics. These Traxxas GTR springs are manufactured to the highest standards using premium materials and proven engineering, ensuring that your investment in suspension tuning translates into measurable performance gains.
Available at RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer, these genuine Traxxas springs are backed by our commitment to stock only authentic products from authorised manufacturers. If you're looking to upgrade your RC car suspension in the UK or simply need replacement springs for your existing GTR shock setup, this is the product you need.
Key Features
- High-Quality Spring Steel Construction — These springs are manufactured from premium-grade spring steel that delivers consistent performance and longevity, resisting fatigue and maintaining its rate characteristics even after extended use on various track surfaces and conditions.
- Durable Red Powder-Coated Finish — The springs feature a protective red powder-coated finish that not only looks professional but also provides corrosion resistance, ensuring your investment remains protected whether you're driving in dry conditions or after exposure to moisture from wet grass or light rain.
- 5.4 Rate Spring Rate (Pink Stripe) — The 5.4 rate classification indicates this is a medium-stiff spring option, perfect for heavier vehicle configurations or drivers seeking increased anti-roll stability and more aggressive handling characteristics without sacrificing ride comfort.
- Colour-Coded Identification — The pink stripe on the end of the spring makes it instantly recognisable and prevents accidental mixing of different spring rates in your spares collection, ensuring you always grab the correct springs when setting up your vehicle.
- Sold as Matched Pair — You receive two springs in this package, providing a complete set for one axle. For full vehicle suspension setup, you may need additional pairs depending on your application.
- Precise Suspension Tuning — GTR springs allow you to compensate for lighter or heavier truck configurations, enabling you to dial in the exact suspension geometry your vehicle needs for optimal performance.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas GTR spring system represents decades of suspension engineering expertise applied to 1/10 scale RC vehicles. At 5.4 rate with the distinctive pink stripe designation, these springs occupy the medium-stiff portion of the Traxxas GTR spring spectrum, offering an excellent balance between stability and comfort. The higher the spring rate number, the stiffer the spring and the more resistance it provides to compression, which is why the 5.4 rate is ideal for drivers running heavier vehicle setups or those competing on high-grip tracks where maintaining consistent ride height and minimising body roll are critical. The high-quality spring steel used in their construction ensures that the springs maintain their rated stiffness through thousands of compression cycles, whether you're track racing or bashing in the garden. The powder-coated finish provides additional durability beyond the base material, protecting the springs from UV damage, corrosion from humidity, and general wear. These springs integrate seamlessly with all Traxxas GTR shock systems, making them a universal solution for GTR-equipped vehicles. The engineering behind GTR springs allows drivers to systematically tune their vehicle's suspension by simply changing spring rates rather than requiring expensive shock rebuilds or modifications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is spring rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — Spring rate (measured in the rate number like 5.4) determines how stiff the spring is and how much force is needed to compress it. A higher rate means a stiffer spring that resists compression more, which affects how your vehicle sits on the track, how it handles weight transfer during acceleration and braking, and how it responds in corners. Choosing the correct spring rate for your vehicle weight and driving style is one of the most important suspension tuning decisions you can make.
- Why is this a 5.4 rate and should I choose this or a different rate? — The 5.4 rate is classified as medium-stiff and represents an excellent middle ground for most drivers. It's ideal if you're running a heavier vehicle configuration or if you want increased stability and anti-roll characteristics without sacrificing ride comfort. Traxxas offers a range of rates (including 2.6, 4.9, 5.4, and 5.9 among others), allowing you to dial in the exact setup your vehicle needs.
- How do I know which spring rate to choose for my vehicle? — If your vehicle feels like it's sitting too low (sags excessively) or doesn't recover quickly from bumps, you may need a stiffer (higher rate) spring like this 5.4. Conversely, if your vehicle sits too high or feels bouncy, you might benefit from a softer (lower rate) spring. Generally, heavier vehicle configurations require stiffer springs to maintain proper ride height and handling characteristics.
- Are these springs compatible with all Traxxas vehicles? — These springs are specifically designed for Traxxas GTR shock systems, which are found on various Traxxas 1/10 scale vehicles. Always verify that your vehicle uses GTR shocks before purchasing these springs, as they are not compatible with other shock systems.
- What does the pink stripe mean? — The pink stripe is a colour-coded identification system used by Traxxas to instantly identify spring rates. Each rate from 2.6 through 5.9 has its own colour designation (yellow, silver, pink, blue, etc.), making it easy to identify springs at a glance and preventing accidental mixing of different rates in your spares box.
- How long do these springs last before needing replacement? — Quality GTR springs like these should last for thousands of compressions. You'll typically need replacement springs when you notice the spring no longer returns quickly to its original length, the spring appears bent or damaged, or when you're changing your suspension tuning strategy. Many RC enthusiasts keep spare springs on hand for quick setup changes at the track.
- Do I need any special tools to install these springs? — Spring installation typically requires access to your vehicle's shock towers and may require a spring compressor tool depending on your shock design. It's advisable to consult your vehicle's manual for specific installation instructions, though most GTR spring changes are straightforward enough for intermediate RC builders.
- Can I mix different spring rates on my vehicle? — While technically possible, mixing spring rates is not recommended as it will cause uneven weight distribution and unpredictable handling characteristics. For optimal performance, use matched springs (same rate) on each axle, and only intentionally use different rates if you have specific tuning requirements.
