Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (Red) (GTR) (4.4 rate Black) (1 pair) TRX5441 represents the ideal suspension tuning solution for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand precision performance from their 1/10 scale GTR shock systems. These high-quality replacement springs are engineered to deliver consistent handling characteristics and are essential components for anyone serious about optimising their RC car's suspension setup. Whether you're a weekend basher enjoying your brushless RC truck or a competitive racer fine-tuning every aspect of your vehicle's dynamics, having the correct spring rate is absolutely fundamental to achieving the performance you're after.

Traxxas has developed these GTR shock springs using premium spring steel construction, finished with a distinctive red powder-coated exterior that not only looks professional but also provides excellent durability and corrosion resistance. The 4.4 rate specification indicates a medium-stiffness spring ideal for balanced suspension geometry, making these springs suitable for a wide variety of driving conditions and vehicle weight configurations. This particular set comes as a pair, meaning you receive everything needed to upgrade both rear shocks on your 1/10 scale RC model, making it convenient and cost-effective compared to purchasing individual springs.

The black stripe marking on these springs serves a crucial purpose beyond aesthetics—it clearly identifies the spring rate, allowing you to instantly verify the stiffness rating and ensure correct matching during maintenance or upgrades. For anyone operating RC cars in the UK market, having access to genuine Traxxas replacement parts from an authorised dealer ensures you're getting authentic components that meet the manufacturer's exacting standards and will integrate perfectly with your existing GTR shock system.

Key Features

  • Premium Spring Steel Construction — These springs are manufactured from high-quality spring steel that delivers consistent performance over thousands of operating cycles, ensuring your suspension remains predictable and reliable whether you're driving casually or competing at events across the UK.
  • Durable Red Powder-Coated Finish — The powder-coated red exterior provides excellent protection against corrosion and weather damage, crucial for maintaining the spring's structural integrity and appearance over extended periods of use and storage.
  • 4.4 Spring Rate Specification — This medium stiffness rating offers a balanced approach to suspension tuning, suitable for compensating for lighter or heavier vehicle configurations and adapting to different track surfaces or driving styles.
  • Black Stripe Rate Identification — The colour-coded stripe marking system makes it instantly obvious which spring rate you're installing, eliminating confusion and preventing accidental installation of mismatched spring rates that could compromise handling.
  • Sold as a Matched Pair — You receive two springs in this package, providing complete coverage for your rear suspension and ensuring perfect symmetry in your shock setup for balanced and predictable handling characteristics.
  • Genuine Traxxas Component — As an original equipment manufacturer part, these springs are engineered to work seamlessly with GTR shock systems, delivering the exact performance characteristics Traxxas designed into your vehicle.
  • Versatile Suspension Tuning Solution — Whether you need to adjust for payload changes, driving surface variations, or simply prefer a different suspension feel, having access to multiple spring rates gives you complete control over your RC car's suspension performance.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas GTR shock spring system represents a sophisticated approach to suspension tuning that allows RC enthusiasts to precisely dial in their vehicle's handling characteristics. The 4.4 rate specification sits in the medium range of the available GTR spring offerings, making it an excellent baseline choice for most driving scenarios and vehicle weights. The use of premium spring steel ensures that the springs maintain their intended stiffness characteristics throughout their operational lifetime, resisting the degradation that can occur with lower-quality materials. The red powder coating isn't simply cosmetic—it provides a protective barrier against moisture, salt spray, and UV exposure, which is particularly important for UK-based RC operators who may encounter variable weather conditions. The spring rate itself determines how much force is required to compress the spring by a given distance; a 4.4 rate means the spring provides moderate resistance, offering a good balance between comfort during casual driving and responsiveness during more aggressive manoeuvres. The black stripe marking system allows you to quickly verify the spring rate at a glance, preventing costly mistakes during maintenance or when swapping between different spring rates for different driving conditions. These springs are specifically designed for 1/10 scale GTR shock systems, ensuring perfect compatibility and optimal performance integration with your existing suspension components.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a spring rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — Spring rate determines how stiffly the spring resists compression; a higher rate (stiffer spring) provides more resistance to compression, while a lower rate (softer spring) allows easier compression. The correct spring rate is crucial for achieving the handling balance you want, as it directly affects how your vehicle's suspension responds to bumps, corners, and acceleration or braking forces. If your spring rate is too soft, your suspension will be too bouncy and unpredictable; if too stiff, your car will feel harsh and lose traction on uneven surfaces.
  • How do I know if the 4.4 rate is right for my vehicle? — The 4.4 rate is a medium-stiffness option suitable for most standard-weight 1/10 scale vehicles in typical driving conditions. Traxxas offers different rates to accommodate heavier or lighter vehicle configurations, so if you find your car is sitting too low in the suspension (suggesting too soft a spring) or too high (suggesting too stiff a spring), you may need to adjust your spring rate. Starting with the 4.4 rate and adjusting from there is a reasonable approach for most drivers.
  • Are these springs compatible with all GTR shocks? — Yes, these springs are specifically designed for Traxxas 1/10 scale GTR shock systems and will work with any vehicle equipped with GTR shocks. However, always verify your shock type before ordering, as other shock systems use different spring sizes and rates.
  • Can I mix different spring rates on my RC car? — Mixing spring rates between front and rear or left and right is not recommended, as it will create asymmetrical handling characteristics that make your vehicle unpredictable and difficult to control. Always use matched pairs or sets of springs with the same rate.
  • How often do I need to replace my shock springs? — With proper care, quality springs like these Traxxas units should last for many seasons of regular driving. You would typically replace springs if they become physically damaged, develop cracks, or lose their ability to return to their original length. The powder coating may wear over time, but this doesn't affect performance.
  • What makes the black stripe important? — The black stripe is a colour-coded identification marking that instantly tells you the spring rate is 4.4, preventing accidental installation of the wrong rate. This system makes it easy to keep your springs organised if you have multiple rates for different driving conditions.
