Overview

The Traxxas Spring, shock (White) (GTR) (Front) (1.3 rate Gold) (1 pair) TRX5432 is an essential suspension upgrade component for anyone running a Traxxas GTR RC car. Whether you're a seasoned RC enthusiast in the UK or just getting started with remote control vehicles, having the right suspension springs makes a dramatic difference to how your car handles, corners and absorbs bumps on the track or terrain. These genuine Traxxas GTR shock springs are precision-engineered to give you the suspension tuning options you need to match your driving style and vehicle weight configuration. If you're looking to upgrade your RC car suspension or replace worn springs, the Traxxas GTR springs offer the quality and performance you'd expect from one of the world's leading RC car manufacturers.

GTR shock springs are a critical component of your RC car's suspension system, working in tandem with your dampers and shock absorbers to control how your vehicle sits and responds to the track surface. The spring rate determines how stiff or soft the suspension feels, which in turn affects cornering speed, stability and overall handling characteristics. Whether you're bashing around the garden, competing on a local UK RC track, or preparing your car for a race weekend, having the correct spring rate for your vehicle weight and driving conditions is fundamental to getting the best performance from your RC car. Traxxas offers a comprehensive range of GTR spring rates so you can fine-tune your suspension precisely.

These Traxxas GTR springs come in pairs, meaning you receive two springs in this pack—one pair is sufficient for the front of your vehicle. The springs feature a distinctive white powder-coated finish that resists corrosion and wear, maintaining their appearance and functionality through countless hours of use. The 1.3 rate (indicated by the gold stripe colour coding on the spring ends) makes these springs suitable for specific vehicle weight configurations and driving styles, with higher rates providing stiffer suspension and lower rates offering a softer, more compliant ride.

Key Features

  • High-quality spring steel construction — These GTR shock springs are manufactured from premium-grade spring steel that has been precisely engineered to deliver consistent performance and reliability through thousands of compression cycles, ensuring your suspension remains predictable and responsive through both smooth and rough terrain.
  • Durable white powder-coated finish — The white powder coating provides excellent corrosion resistance and protects the underlying steel from oxidation, rust and the elements, meaning your springs will maintain their integrity and appearance even after exposure to wet weather, track dirt and muddy conditions across the UK.
  • 1.3 rate gold stripe spring rate — The 1.3 rate specification (clearly marked with a gold stripe on the spring ends) delivers a specific suspension stiffness that can be matched to lighter or heavier vehicle configurations, allowing you to dial in the exact suspension behaviour your GTR demands for optimal handling.
  • Sold in matched pairs — You receive two springs in this package, which is the correct quantity for the front suspension of your GTR-equipped vehicle, ensuring balanced and consistent suspension performance across both front wheels.
  • Colour-coded for easy identification — The gold stripe on the spring ends makes it instantly obvious which rate springs you're holding, eliminating confusion when swapping springs between vehicles or when selecting the correct springs for your specific setup from your spares box.
  • Genuine Traxxas component — As an official Traxxas part number TRX5432, you're getting an authentic component designed specifically for GTR shock systems, guaranteeing perfect fitment and compatibility with your Traxxas RC car without modification or adjustment.
  • Suspension tuning flexibility — By choosing the 1.3 rate springs, you're selecting a specific tuning option within Traxxas's wide variety of available spring rates, allowing you to compensate for your vehicle's weight and driving conditions to achieve the handling balance you're looking for.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas GTR springs represent the kind of engineering precision that serious RC enthusiasts demand from their suspension components. Manufactured from high-quality spring steel, these springs are designed to maintain their shape and performance characteristics through repeated compression and extension cycles without losing their stiffness or becoming permanently deformed. The 1.3 rate specification sits in the middle of Traxxas's range of available spring rates for GTR shocks, offering a balanced suspension setup that works well for drivers who want moderate stiffness—not too hard for off-road bashing, but firm enough to maintain good control during higher-speed cornering and aggressive driving. The white powder-coated finish isn't just cosmetic; it's a functional protective layer that shields the steel from moisture, salt, dirt and other corrosive elements that can cause rust and degradation, particularly important for UK RC enthusiasts who might encounter damp weather conditions. The springs work in conjunction with your shock dampers to control vehicle height, ride stiffness and how the chassis responds to track imperfections. Higher spring rates (stiffer springs) reduce chassis roll and dive, improving cornering speed and stability, while lower rates (softer springs) provide more compliance and traction in rough terrain. The 1.3 rate gold stripe springs are designed as a standard setup that suits a wide range of vehicle weights and driving conditions, making them an excellent choice if you're not certain which rate would suit your specific needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a spring rate and why does it matter for my RC car? — A spring rate refers to how stiff or soft your suspension springs are. In RC cars, spring rate is measured by the resistance the spring provides to compression. Higher-rate springs (stiffer) reduce chassis roll during cornering and improve stability, particularly at higher speeds, while lower-rate springs (softer) improve traction and ride compliance over bumpy terrain. Choosing the correct spring rate for your vehicle weight and driving style is essential for achieving optimal handling, and the 1.3 rate gold stripe springs offer a balanced middle-ground setup suitable for most drivers and conditions.
  • How do I know if the 1.3 rate is right for my GTR? — The 1.3 rate is indicated by a gold stripe colour on the spring ends, making identification simple. Traxxas offers GTR springs in multiple rates specifically so you can compensate for different vehicle weights and driving conditions. The 1.3 rate is considered a standard, versatile setup that works well for most GTR owners. If your vehicle feels too bouncy or unstable, you might benefit from a stiffer (higher-rate) spring, while if it feels too harsh or doesn't follow bumps well, a softer (lower-rate) spring might help. Many UK RC track operators and experienced builders recommend starting with the standard 1.3 rate to establish a baseline before experimenting with alternative rates.
  • Do I need to replace both springs at the same time? — Yes, for best results you should always replace suspension springs in matched pairs. This pack contains two springs, which is exactly what you need for the front of your vehicle. Mixing old and new springs, or springs of different rates, will create an imbalanced suspension where one side is stiffer than the other, resulting in unpredictable handling, uneven turning and poor overall performance. Always replace springs as matched pairs to maintain suspension balance.
  • Will these springs fit my Traxxas GTR? — Yes, these are genuine Traxxas part number TRX5432, specifically designed for GTR shock systems. They will fit GTR-equipped Traxxas vehicles without any modification. However, they are not compatible with other Traxxas shock types (such as those fitted to different vehicle models), so always verify your vehicle is equipped with GTR shocks before ordering. If you're unsure, consult your vehicle's manual or contact RC Model Shop for confirmation.
  • How long do these springs last before they need replacing? — With proper care, high-quality spring steel springs like these can last many years and thousands of running hours. However, springs can lose their stiffness over time through repeated compression cycles, particularly if your RC car is used heavily or in harsh conditions. If you notice your suspension feels progressively softer or less responsive, your springs may have fatigued and replacement would be advisable. Storing your vehicle in a cool, dry place and keeping springs clean will help extend their lifespan.
  • What's the difference between the white powder-coated finish and other finishes? — The white powder-coated finish on these GTR springs serves both aesthetic and functional purposes. Functionally, the powder coating protects the underlying spring steel from oxidation and corrosion, which is particularly important in the UK where damp weather is common and moisture can cause rust. Aesthetically, the white finish gives these springs a polished, professional appearance. The powder coating is durable and resistant to impact and wear, making it ideal for the demanding environment of RC car racing and bashing.
  • Can I use these springs on a different Traxxas model? — No, these springs are specifically designed for GTR shock systems and will only fit Traxxas vehicles equipped with GTR shocks. Different Traxxas models use different shock types with different mounting systems and spring seat designs. Using springs designed for GTR shocks on a different shock system will not fit properly and could damage your suspension or cause unsafe handling. Always use springs matched to your specific shock type.
