Overview
The Traxxas Servo Horns (TRX5345X) are essential compatibility components designed specifically for RC enthusiasts in the UK who run non-Traxxas servo brands on their Traxxas vehicles. If you're upgrading your RC car, buggy, or truck with premium aftermarket servos from trusted manufacturers like Hitec, JR, KO, or Airtronics, these servo horns provide the perfect mechanical interface to unlock the full potential of your upgrades. Revo, Slayer, and Summit models require specially designed servo horns to maximise the performance of their linkages, and this genuine Traxxas part ensures your non-Traxxas servo works seamlessly with your vehicle's steering and throttle systems.
Many RC car enthusiasts discover that upgrading to quality aftermarket servos can dramatically improve steering response, throttle control, and overall driving experience. However, standard Traxxas servo horns are engineered specifically for Futaba-style servo drives, which means they won't fit directly onto Hitec, JR, KO, or Airtronics servo output shafts. That's where the TRX5345X comes in—these purpose-designed servo horns bridge that gap and allow you to enjoy the benefits of premium non-Traxxas servos without compatibility headaches. Whether you're a competitive racer seeking superior servo performance or a weekend basher looking to improve your RC vehicle's handling, these servo horns are the key to making your servo upgrades work properly.
Traxxas has engineered this component with the same attention to detail and quality standards applied to all official Traxxas parts. By choosing genuine Traxxas servo horns specifically designed for non-Traxxas servo compatibility, you're ensuring reliable operation, proper linkage geometry, and the durability you've come to expect from Traxxas RC equipment. Available here at RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer, these servo horns represent a straightforward, effective solution for anyone wanting to customise their Traxxas RC car, truck, or buggy with aftermarket servo hardware.
Key Features
- Multi-brand servo compatibility — These servo horns are specifically engineered to work with Hitec, JR, KO, and Airtronics servo drives, allowing you to install premium aftermarket servos on your Traxxas vehicle without worrying about mechanical fit or compatibility issues.
- Optimised linkage performance — Designed specifically for Revo, Slayer, and Summit models, these servo horns maximise the performance of your vehicle's steering and throttle linkages, ensuring precise control and responsive feedback whether you're racing or bashing.
- Both steering and throttle horns included — The TRX5345X comes with servo horns for both your steering servo and throttle servo, meaning you can upgrade both control systems at once or build your perfect custom servo configuration.
- Genuine Traxxas engineering — As official Traxxas components, these servo horns meet the same exacting quality standards, material specifications, and dimensional tolerances as all genuine Traxxas parts, ensuring reliable long-term performance.
- Straightforward installation — Once you understand that you need these horns for non-Traxxas servo compatibility, installation is straightforward—simply remove your factory servo horn and replace it with the appropriate TRX5345X horn matched to your servo's spline count.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX5345X servo horns represent precision mechanical components engineered to transfer control input from your servo to your vehicle's steering and throttle linkages with minimal flex, backlash, or inconsistency. Unlike universal servo horns that attempt to fit multiple servo types with varying degrees of success, these Traxxas-designed horns are specifically optimised for the spline geometry and output shaft dimensions of Hitec, JR, KO, and Airtronics servo drives. This precision engineering ensures that when your servo rotates, every degree of movement translates directly into steering angle or throttle position without the slop or hesitation that can occur with poorly fitting components. The servo horns work in conjunction with your vehicle's servo saver mechanism (where equipped) to protect your servo gears from impact damage during aggressive driving while maintaining responsive control feel. Build quality is paramount in servo horn design, as these components experience constant stress from steering inputs, throttle commands, and the mechanical forces generated by your RC vehicle's movement. By choosing genuine Traxxas servo horns rather than generic alternatives, you're ensuring that your servo upgrade investment delivers the performance improvement you're seeking. Whether you're setting up a competitive race machine or a high-performance basher, the TRX5345X provides the mechanical foundation necessary for your aftermarket servos to perform at their best.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these servo horns work with my Traxxas factory servo? — No. These servo horns are specifically designed for non-Traxxas servo brands including Hitec, JR, KO, and Airtronics. Your factory Traxxas servo uses Futaba-style servo drives and requires standard Traxxas servo horns instead. If you're upgrading to one of the compatible servo brands, then these TRX5345X horns are exactly what you need.
- Which Traxxas models are these servo horns compatible with? — The TRX5345X servo horns are specifically designed for Traxxas Revo, Slayer, and Summit models. These vehicles have steering and throttle linkage systems engineered to work with properly designed servo horns, and upgrading to premium servos with these compatible horns can significantly improve performance and response time.
- What servo brands do these horns work with? — The TRX5345X is engineered for compatibility with Hitec, JR, KO, and Airtronics servo drives. Each of these manufacturers uses spline designs that differ from Futaba-style servos, which is why you need these specific horns rather than standard Traxxas components.
- Do I need both steering and throttle servo horns? — The TRX5345X includes both steering and throttle servo horns, giving you the flexibility to upgrade one or both control systems. Many RC enthusiasts upgrade their steering servo first for improved handling, then add a throttle servo upgrade later.
- Can I use these horns with my Futaba servo? — Futaba servos use the standard servo drive design that works with factory Traxxas servo horns, not the TRX5345X. If you're planning to use Futaba brand servos, you should use standard Traxxas servo horns instead.
- What's the difference between a servo horn and a servo saver? — A servo horn is the mechanical arm that attaches to your servo's output shaft and transfers rotational motion into linear motion through linkage rods. A servo saver is a spring-loaded mechanism in your vehicle's steering or throttle linkage that protects the servo gears from sudden impacts. Some vehicles have servo savers built into the chassis; others rely on the servo itself to handle impact loads. Regardless of your setup, the servo horn is the critical interface between servo and linkage.
- Will upgrading to these servo horns improve my RC car's performance? — Upgrading the servo horns alone won't improve performance; however, when paired with a premium servo from Hitec, JR, KO, or Airtronics, the complete upgrade can offer significantly faster response times, smoother steering, improved throttle control, and greater torque than factory Traxxas servos. The servo horn simply ensures compatibility so your servo upgrade can deliver its full potential.
- How do I know which spline count my servo has? — Most aftermarket RC servos come with specifications clearly stating their spline count (typically 23-tooth, 24-tooth, or 25-tooth). Check your servo's documentation, manufacturer specifications, or the servo itself for this information. If installing a servo you already own, you may need to contact the servo manufacturer or measure the spline yourself.
- Are these servo horns suitable for beginners? — These servo horns are best suited for RC enthusiasts who have already purchased or are planning to purchase aftermarket servos, as they serve a specific compatibility function. Beginners with factory Traxxas servos won't need these components, but if you're expanding your RC hobby knowledge and looking to upgrade your vehicle's control systems, the TRX5345X is a straightforward way to enable that upgrade path.
