The intelligent design prioritises efficiency and reliability, delivering super-smooth throttle response and accurate linearity that makes the difference between a mediocre flight experience and a genuinely rewarding one. If you're looking for a dependable, feature-rich speed controller for your RC aircraft—whether you're based in the South, Midlands, North or anywhere across the UK—the Radient 40A G2 is a smart investment.
Key Features
- Low heat generation MOSFET with high instant current capability — The advanced MOSFET drive system minimises heat production during operation, which extends component lifespan and reduces the risk of thermal shutdown during demanding flights. High instant current delivery means your motor receives power instantly when you push the throttle, eliminating lag and providing the responsive control that aerobatic flying demands.
- Fast 32-bit microprocessor — The powerful 32-bit processor ensures rapid calculations and smooth signal processing, translating to silky-smooth throttle response and precise control linearity that makes your aircraft behave predictably in all flight conditions.
- Super-smooth start-up and accurate throttle linearity — Gone are the days of jerky motor engagement or unpredictable throttle curves. This ESC delivers consistently smooth acceleration from idle through full power, giving you the confidence and control needed for everything from gentle cruising to aggressive aerobatic manoeuvres.
- Higher energy-saving qualities and efficiency — The intelligent power management system extracts maximum performance from every amp-hour of battery capacity, meaning longer flight times and less wasted energy as heat. This efficiency gain directly translates to more time in the air on each battery charge.
- Adjustable SBEC output voltage — The integrated SBEC (Switched-Mode BEC) provides regulated power to your receiver and servos, with voltage adjustment capability to optimise servo performance and responsiveness. This is particularly valuable for scale models with demanding servo requirements or when running multiple servos.
- Comprehensive protection systems — The ESC includes start-up protection (preventing accidental motor spin-up), over-heat protection (cutting throttle if temperatures exceed safe limits), low-voltage protection (safeguarding your battery from over-discharge), and signal loss/phase loss protection (ensuring safe shutdown if radio signal is lost). These multi-layered protections give you peace of mind whether you're a novice or experienced RC pilot.
- Wide motor compatibility — Suitable for use with most brushless motors currently on the market, including high-RPM applications. Whether you're running a compact high-KV motor for speed or a larger low-KV unit for torque, this ESC adapts to your setup.
- Programming via LCD card — Forget complicated button sequences and cryptic LED codes. The optional LCD programming card provides intuitive, menu-driven setup and configuration, making it far more convenient to adjust timing, protection thresholds, throttle curves and other parameters. Perfect for club pilots who want flexibility without frustration.
- Pre-installed XT60 battery connector — The industry-standard XT60 connector arrives factory-fitted, saving you assembly time and ensuring a robust, reliable electrical connection to your LiPo battery with minimal voltage drop.
- Pre-installed bullet-style motor connectors — Motor connections are ready to go right out of the box, compatible with standard brushless motor connectors. No soldering required, though experienced builders can easily swap for alternatives if preferred.
Technical Performance
The Radient 40A G2 ESC is engineered for demanding RC fixed-wing applications where reliability and performance are non-negotiable. The 40-amp continuous rating provides sufficient headroom for most sport, aerobatic and scale aircraft powered by brushless motors in the 2S to 4S LiPo voltage range. The 32-bit microprocessor runs at sufficient speed to eliminate detectable lag in throttle response, whilst the low-heat-generation MOSFET technology means the ESC remains cool even during sustained high-throttle flight. Weighing just 37 grams, it's light enough to minimise impact on aircraft weight and centre of gravity. The compact dimensions (68 x 25 x 10mm) make installation straightforward in confined spaces typical of RC aircraft fuselages. Build quality reflects Radient's commitment to durability: high-quality component selection, robust PCB design, and thoughtful internal layout all contribute to an ESC that will serve reliably for years of flying. The adjustable SBEC output is particularly valuable in scale models where servo torque and responsiveness directly affect flight characteristics—being able to dial in the optimal voltage for your specific servo setup is a genuine advantage over fixed-voltage alternatives. The combination of protective circuits, efficient power delivery and smooth control characteristics makes the 40A G2 suitable for everything from gentle park-flying to competitive aerobatic flying.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What battery voltage does the Radient 40A G2 ESC accept? — This ESC is designed for 2-4 cell LiPo batteries, meaning it accepts voltage inputs from 2S (7.4V nominal) up to 4S (14.8V nominal). Always ensure your battery falls within this range to avoid damage to the ESC. Most modern RC aircraft use 3S (11.1V) or 4S (14.8V) setups, both of which are fully supported.
- Is the Radient 40A G2 ESC suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Whilst the ESC includes advanced programming capabilities via LCD card for experienced pilots who want to fine-tune performance, it also works perfectly well straight out of the box with default settings. The comprehensive protection systems (low-voltage cutoff, over-temperature shutdown, signal loss protection) make it very safe for newcomers to RC aviation. Beginners will appreciate the pre-installed connectors and straightforward installation.
- What motors are compatible with this 40-amp ESC? — The 40A G2 is suggested compatible with most brushless motors currently on the market, including high-RPM applications. The 40-amp rating suits motors ranging from compact high-KV units (3000+ KV) to larger low-KV motors, depending on your aircraft size and desired performance. Always check your motor's specifications and ensure the peak current draw doesn't exceed 40 amps under full throttle.
- Can I adjust the SBEC output voltage? — Yes, one of the standout features of the 40A G2 is the adjustable SBEC output voltage. This allows you to optimise power delivery to your receiver and servos, which is particularly valuable for scale models or setups with demanding servo requirements. The ability to adjust voltage helps maximise servo torque and responsiveness, something fixed-voltage ESCs cannot offer.
- How much does the Radient 40A G2 weigh? — At just 37 grams (1.31 ounces), this ESC is exceptionally lightweight, minimising the weight penalty of adding speed control to your aircraft. This is crucial for maintaining optimal balance and flight performance, particularly in smaller models where every gram matters.
- Does this ESC work with my RC radio system? — The 40A G2 works with any standard RC receiver that outputs a standard servo signal. It's compatible with virtually all modern RC radio systems from manufacturers like Spektrum, FrSky, Futaba and others commonly used by UK RC pilots. Simply connect the ESC's signal wire to any receiver channel.
- What protection systems does the ESC include? — The Radient 40A G2 features multiple layers of protection: start-up protection prevents accidental motor spin-up when power is first applied; over-heat protection cuts throttle if the ESC's internal temperature exceeds safe limits; low-voltage protection disconnects the motor if your battery voltage drops too low, preventing damage to your LiPo cells; and signal loss/phase loss protection ensures the motor shuts down safely if your radio signal is lost. These systems work together to keep your aircraft and ESC safe in virtually all scenarios.
- Can I programme this ESC without an LCD card? — Whilst the LCD programming card is the most convenient way to configure the ESC, offering intuitive menu-driven setup, basic operation works perfectly without it using factory default settings. However, if you want to adjust timing, protection thresholds, or throttle curves, the LCD card is the recommended approach and is purchased separately.
