Overview

The Radient RS-BS201-PG Standard Analog BB Servo is a dependable, precision-engineered control solution designed for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability without breaking the bank. Whether you're building a custom RC car, updating your existing fleet, or looking for a proven servo for your next RC aircraft project, this standard-sized unit delivers the performance and durability you need. Radient servos are rapidly building a reputation for outstanding value combined with genuine engineering quality, and this 5kg torque servo is no exception to that promise.

This is a servo built for real-world RC applications where consistency matters. The dual ball-raced output shaft ensures smooth, precise control without the wear and play you might experience with single-bearing designs. The O-ring sealing provides genuine water resistance, making it suitable for outdoor bashing in British weather conditions. Whether you're piloting an RC buggy through muddy terrain, fine-tuning steering response on a competition vehicle, or installing it in an RC aircraft where reliability is paramount, the Radient RS-BS201-PG delivers the speed and torque needed for responsive control in demanding conditions.

At just 40 grams and measuring a compact 40.8 x 20.1 x 38.0mm, this standard servo fits seamlessly into most RC platforms without weight penalty. The 3P iron core motor provides consistent performance across the full 4.8V to 6.0V operating range, whilst the plastic gear train keeps the price accessible without compromising on the features that matter for hobby-grade RC use.

Key Features

  • Dual Ball Raced Output Shaft — The dual ball bearing supported output shaft eliminates side-to-side play and ensures smooth, precise control response, which is essential for accurate steering input in RC cars and directional control in RC aircraft applications.
  • Water Resistant O-Ring Seals — The O-ring sealing system provides genuine water resistance, protecting internal components from moisture and allowing you to operate your RC vehicle in wet conditions or muddy terrain without fear of servo failure.
  • Fast Response Time — With a transit speed of 0.12 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, this servo delivers the rapid control response needed for precise steering adjustments and quick directional changes during aggressive RC driving or flying.
  • Substantial Torque Output — Producing up to 5.0 kg.cm of torque at 6.0V (69.4 oz/in), this servo provides more than enough force to control steering loads, landing gear, or trim functions across a wide variety of RC applications without stalling under normal operating conditions.
  • 3P Iron Core Motor — The 3P iron core motor design delivers consistent power delivery and reliability throughout the servo's operational life, ensuring dependable performance session after session.
  • Futaba 25-Tooth Spline Compatibility — The standard 25-tooth spline fitment works with a huge range of readily available servo horns and control arms, making installation straightforward and giving you access to extensive aftermarket accessories for customisation.
  • Lightweight and Compact Design — At just 40 grams and featuring a standard-size casing, this servo integrates seamlessly into most RC platforms without adding significant weight, which is particularly valuable in smaller scale vehicles where every gram counts.
  • Wide Voltage Compatibility — Operating across 4.8V to 6.0V, this servo works with standard NiMh battery packs or the lower voltage settings of LiPo systems, giving you flexibility in your power setup.

Technical Performance

The Radient RS-BS201-PG represents a thoughtfully engineered servo that balances performance, durability and cost-effectiveness. The dual ball bearing design is a key engineering choice that directly impacts the servo's longevity and control precision. Where budget servos might use a single bearing or bushing on the output shaft, the dual ball race configuration in this unit significantly reduces rotational friction and wear, meaning you'll maintain consistent control response even after extensive use. The 3P iron core motor is proven technology that delivers smooth, linear torque output across the full voltage range, with measurable performance at both 4.8V and 6.0V that allows you to tune your setup based on your available power source. The 0.12 second transit time at 6.0V places this servo in the fast category for standard-sized units, making it competitive with servos costing considerably more. The 5.0 kg.cm torque rating at 6.0V (rising to 69.4 oz/in in imperial measurement) provides ample force for steering inputs on most RC cars up to 1/10 scale, whilst remaining suitable for aircraft control surfaces where excessive force isn't required. The plastic gear train keeps weight and cost down whilst still delivering adequate durability for recreational RC use. The O-ring sealing isn't cosmetic — it's a genuine feature that protects the servo's internal mechanisms from mud splash, water ingress and salt spray, extending the servo's operational lifespan when used outdoors in UK conditions. Measuring just 40.8mm in length with a footprint of 20.1 x 38.0mm, this is a true standard-sized servo that will fit into the servo bays designed for Futaba or comparable units without modification.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Radient RS-BS201-PG suitable for beginners in RC hobbies? — Yes, this servo is an excellent choice for anyone new to RC. It offers straightforward installation with standard Futaba 25-tooth spline compatibility, simple analog control (no digital programming required), and proven reliability that means you can focus on learning to drive or fly rather than troubleshooting equipment issues. The price point is also accessible for builders on a budget.
  • What voltage battery system do I need for this servo? — The Radient RS-BS201-PG operates across 4.8V to 6.0V, which means it works perfectly with standard 4-cell NiMh battery packs (4.8V nominal), or with 2S LiPo batteries at the lower voltage setting if your RC system supports voltage regulation. If you're running 6.0V, you can use 5-cell NiMh packs or 2S LiPo at full charge.
  • What torque does this servo produce and is it enough for my RC car? — This servo produces 4.5 kg.cm at 4.8V and 5.0 kg.cm at 6.0V, which converts to 62.5 oz/in and 69.4 oz/in respectively. This torque level is suitable for steering control on most 1/10 scale RC cars under normal conditions. It provides sufficient force for responsive steering without being so powerful that it causes heavy steering inputs. For larger vehicles or heavy-duty rock crawling, you may want to consider a higher-torque option.
  • How does the servo response time affect my RC driving experience? — With a transit time of 0.12 seconds per 60 degrees at 6.0V, this servo responds quickly to your control inputs, which translates to immediate, crisp steering feedback. This fast response is particularly valuable when driving at speed or performing technical manoeuvres where lag would cause control delay. The slightly slower 0.14 seconds at 4.8V is still competitive and suitable for all but the most demanding racing applications.
  • Is the dual ball bearing design really necessary? — Yes. The dual ball bearing output shaft is a significant feature that sets this servo apart from budget alternatives. Ball bearings provide lower friction than bushings, which means the servo can respond faster and more precisely. They also wear more slowly, so the servo maintains consistent performance even after thousands of cycles. For a servo you plan to use regularly, this feature extends the useful lifespan considerably.
  • Will this servo work with my existing RC equipment? — The Radient RS-BS201-PG is a standard analog servo with Futaba 25-tooth spline compatibility, which means it will work with any RC receiver that outputs standard servo control signals. This includes receivers from Futaba, Spektrum, JR and most other manufacturers. It's not a digital servo, so it doesn't require any special programming — just connect it to your receiver channel and it's ready to use.
  • Does the water resistance mean I can submerge the servo? — No. The O-ring seals provide water resistance, meaning the servo can handle water splash, wet grass, light rain and muddy conditions without damage. However, water resistance is not the same as waterproofing for full submersion. Keep the servo above water level in your RC vehicle to maintain reliability.
