Key Features
- 40mm Water-Cooled Brushless Motor — The brushless motor technology provides significantly more power and efficiency than traditional brushed motors, delivering consistent high-speed performance whilst generating less heat and requiring less maintenance. This is the engine that propels the Arrobolt SR40 to speeds exceeding 50km/h, making it one of the fastest compact RC boats available.
- Self-Righting Hull Design — One of the most frustrating aspects of RC boat racing is capsizing, but the Arrobolt SR40 automatically rights itself when it flips over, getting you back into the action instantly. This intelligent hull geometry means you spend more time racing and less time retrieving your boat from the water.
- Dual 7.4V LiPo Battery System — The two included 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo batteries deliver over 30 minutes of continuous runtime, and their modular design means you can swap one out when it depletes and keep racing. This extended run time is considerably longer than many competing RC boats in this price bracket.
- 2.4GHz FHSS Radio System with 656ft Range — The 2.4GHz pistol-grip transmitter offers a control range of over 200 metres (656 feet) with excellent interference rejection, allowing more than 20 Arrobolt boats to race simultaneously without signal conflict. FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) technology ensures reliable, responsive control in crowded radio environments.
- Fully Waterproof Electronics — The integrated waterproof ESC (electronic speed controller) with sealed design protects all electronics from water ingress, meaning you can operate in challenging wet conditions without fear of short circuits or component failure. The single waterproof cover keeps the critical components dry while allowing water cooling of the motor.
- Reverse Function with Obstacle Avoidance — Beyond simple forward and reverse, the proportional reverse control allows precise maneuvering to navigate around obstacles, retrieve the boat from tight spaces, or execute tactical racing moves. This level of control makes the Arrobolt SR40 suitable for both open-water blasts and technical pool racing.
- Durable ABS Plastic Hull with Anti-Collision Protection — The hull is constructed from high-quality ABS plastic with an upgraded anti-collision silicone head that absorbs impacts and protects against damage during crashes. This rugged construction ensures longevity even with aggressive racing and occasional contact with obstacles.
- Low Battery and Weak Signal Alarm System — The transmitter alerts you when battery voltage is low or signal strength is weak, preventing unexpected power loss during racing sessions and ensuring you never lose control of your boat mid-race.
- Proportional Throttle and Steering Control — The 9-gram servo steering and proportional trigger throttle provide smooth, nuanced control that responds to the exact pressure you apply, allowing everything from gentle cruising to aggressive high-speed racing maneuvers.
- Compact and Portable Design — At just 400mm in length and 350 grams in weight, the Arrobolt SR40 is genuinely portable enough to carry to any location, making it ideal for RC enthusiasts who want to race at multiple venues without committing to a large, heavy setup.
Technical Performance
The Volantex Arrobolt SR40 represents an excellent balance of performance engineering and practical usability. At its heart sits the 40mm water-cooled brushless motor, which delivers substantially more power output and efficiency than brushed alternatives whilst maintaining exceptional reliability. The brushless technology means no carbon brushes to wear out, no frequent maintenance requirements, and consistent performance throughout the battery's discharge cycle. The motor is actively cooled by water circulation, which allows it to maintain optimal operating temperature during extended high-speed runs, preventing thermal throttling and extending component lifespan.
Power delivery comes from two 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo batteries in 2S configuration (two cells in series), which is the standard power level for small-to-medium RC boats. These batteries are integrated into the hull design with separate compartments, allowing you to utilise one whilst the other charges, effectively doubling your continuous play time. The integrated waterproof ESC manages power distribution and provides forward/reverse control with smooth proportional response. The 9-gram servo steering system offers quick, precise directional control without lag or dead zones. The hull's low-drag racing design, combined with the powerful motor and efficient aerodynamic profile, achieves the claimed maximum speed of 50km/h—genuinely impressive for a 400mm craft. Run time exceeds 30 minutes per battery charge, providing excellent value in terms of playtime per charging cycle. Build quality throughout is evident in the ABS plastic construction, sealed waterproof compartments, and reinforced silicone bumpers designed to absorb the inevitable impacts that occur during competitive racing. The compact 400mm length, 120mm width, and 350-gram weight make this a genuinely portable ready-to-run RC boat that can be transported and deployed quickly.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Volantex Arrobolt SR40 suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. The manufacturer specifies this boat is suitable for beginners and those over 14 years old. It comes fully assembled with no installation required, arrives with all necessary batteries and charger, and the self-righting feature means beginners don't need to constantly fish the boat out of the water after capsizing. The proportional control system is intuitive and forgiving for learning basic RC boat operation.
- What batteries does the Arrobolt SR40 need and how long do they last? — The boat uses two 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo batteries in 2S configuration (two cells in series), both of which are included in the box. Each battery provides over 30 minutes of continuous runtime, and since you have two batteries, you can achieve over 60 minutes of total playtime if you alternate between them whilst one charges. The included USB smart charger handles all charging duties.
- How fast does this RC boat actually go? — The Arrobolt SR40 achieves speeds of up to 50km/h (approximately 30+mph), making it one of the faster compact RC boats available in the ready-to-run category. This performance is delivered by the 40mm water-cooled brushless motor, which provides excellent power-to-weight ratio for the 350-gram hull.
- Will the transmitter batteries be included? — No, the transmitter requires four AA batteries which are not included in the box. This is standard practice for RC equipment as users often have specific battery preferences (alkaline, rechargeable NiMH, etc.). You'll need to purchase AA batteries separately before you can operate the boat.
- What is the control range of the radio system? — The 2.4GHz FHSS radio system provides a control range of over 656 feet (approximately 200 metres), which is more than sufficient for racing on lakes, ponds, and large pools. The FHSS frequency-hopping technology ensures reliable signal even in areas with significant radio interference.

- What happens if the boat capsizes? — The self-righting hull automatically flips the boat upright if it tips over, so you can immediately continue racing. This is a critical feature for beginners and makes the overall user experience much more enjoyable, as you're not constantly wading in to retrieve a capsized boat.
- Is this boat waterproof? — The Arrobolt SR40 features a high waterproof system with a single protective cover that keeps water out of critical electronics. The integrated waterproof ESC, sealed battery compartments, and protected servo ensure the boat can handle extended water exposure without damage.
- What is the difference between the Arrobolt SR40 and other Volantex boats? — The Arrobolt SR40 sits in the mid-range of Volantex's boat offerings, offering excellent value with its brushless motor, dual battery system, and self-righting capability. Compared to the Vector XS (a smaller 30km/h boat at a lower price point), the Arrobolt offers more speed and longer runtime. Compared to the Vector SR65B (a 60km/h high-performance boat), the Arrobolt is more affordable and more suitable for beginners, whilst offering respectable performance for recreational racing.
- How long does it take to charge the batteries? — Whilst specific charge time isn't detailed in the manufacturer specifications, the included USB smart charger will safely charge the 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo batteries. Typical charge times for batteries of this capacity are 60–90 minutes depending on charger specifications.
