Overview
The FTX Centre Drive Shaft is an essential drivetrain component designed for FTX RC models, specifically engineered to deliver reliable performance in demanding off-road conditions. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast running a brushless RC buggy or truck, or a dedicated basher pushing your FTX Carnage or Vantage to the limit, this centre driveshaft is a critical spare part that ensures smooth power delivery from your motor to the wheels. As a UK RC car enthusiast, you'll appreciate quality drivetrain components that can withstand the rigours of competitive racing and weekend bashing alike.
This genuine FTX replacement part is manufactured to OEM specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility with multiple FTX models in the Carnage and Vantage 2.0 range. The centre driveshaft is the component that transfers rotational power from your electric motor through the gearbox to drive the wheels. It's one of the first parts to experience stress during aggressive driving, particularly during hard landings, collisions and high-powered acceleration runs. Having a quality spare on hand means you can keep your ready to run RC truck or buggy in action without costly downtime.
Designed for the FTX Carnage 2.0 brushed and brushless variants, as well as the FTX Vantage 2.0 brushless buggy, this centre driveshaft represents excellent value for money at just £3.50. It's the kind of affordable replacement part that every serious RC enthusiast should keep in their spares box, because drivetrain failures happen when you least expect them during intense off-road racing sessions.
Key Features
- Genuine FTX OEM Component — This centre driveshaft is manufactured by FTX to original equipment manufacturer specifications, ensuring it meets the exact dimensional and material tolerances of your RC truck or buggy, which means perfect fitment and reliable performance every single time you use it.
- Compatible with Multiple Models — This single replacement part works across several FTX platforms including the Bugsta 4WD brushed buggy, Carnage 2.0 brushed models in both blue and red, the Carnage 2.0 brushless monster truck, and the Vantage 2.0 brushless buggy, making it a versatile spare that covers several vehicles in your collection.
- Optimised for Brushless and Brushed Systems — Whether you're running a brushed electric motor or the more powerful brushless alternatives, this driveshaft is engineered to handle the power delivery characteristics of both drivetrain types, providing consistent performance across the FTX range.
- Cost-Effective Replacement — At just £3.50, this centre driveshaft offers outstanding value for money as a spare part, making it economical to keep backups on hand so you're never left without a way to repair your RC car quickly after a track session or bashing adventure.
- Single Unit Supply — You receive one centre driveshaft per order, allowing you to purchase exactly the quantity you need as replacements wear out or break during intense RC driving sessions.
Technical Performance
The centre driveshaft is a critical component within the drivetrain assembly of any RC vehicle, responsible for transmitting power generated by the motor directly to the transmission and ultimately to the wheels. In FTX's Carnage and Vantage range, which includes both brushed and brushless electric powered models, the driveshaft experiences significant rotational stress, particularly during acceleration, hard cornering and off-road terrain driving. The engineering behind this component ensures it can withstand the torque outputs from FTX's motor systems whilst maintaining precise alignment and minimal play. As part of the centre drive system, this shaft works in conjunction with the gearbox to transfer motion efficiently, reducing power loss and ensuring your RC buggy or truck responds immediately to throttle inputs. The material composition and manufacturing process allow it to handle repeated stress cycles without premature wear, though aggressive driving styles, high-impact collisions and jumps will eventually necessitate replacement. This is why keeping spare centre driveshafts in your toolkit is a sensible investment for any UK RC enthusiast who regularly enjoys competitive racing or weekend bashing with their FTX models.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which FTX RC models does this centre driveshaft fit? — This centre driveshaft is compatible with the FTX Bugsta 4WD brushed buggy, FTX Carnage 2.0 brushed truck in both blue and red variants, the FTX Carnage 2.0 brushless monster truck, and the FTX Vantage 2.0 brushless buggy, making it a versatile spare for multiple models in the FTX collection.
- Why would I need a replacement centre driveshaft? — The centre driveshaft is a stressed component that transmits engine power to the wheels, so it experiences significant wear during driving. High-impact crashes, jumps, hard acceleration and extended use will eventually cause damage or excessive wear requiring replacement to maintain optimal vehicle performance.
- Is this part easy to replace on my FTX Carnage or Vantage? — Whilst the specific installation difficulty depends on your mechanical experience and the exact model, drivetrain parts like centre driveshafts are generally considered intermediate-level replacements that most RC enthusiasts with basic mechanical skills can handle using standard tools and FTX's technical documentation.
- How long should a centre driveshaft last? — Longevity depends entirely on your driving style, track conditions and maintenance routine. Gentle driving can extend component life significantly, whilst aggressive bashing, repeated crashes and jumping will wear driveshaft components much faster, which is why keeping spares on hand is practical.
- Can I use this with brushless or brushed motors? — Yes, this centre driveshaft is designed to work with both brushed electric motors and brushless motor systems found across the FTX Carnage and Vantage 2.0 range, giving you flexibility if you own multiple variants of these models.
- What tools do I need to replace the centre driveshaft? — Whilst specific tools depend on your particular FTX model, most drivetrain work requires basic hex keys, screwdrivers and potentially a driveshaft puller tool, though you should consult your FTX vehicle manual for precise installation requirements.
