The 5500mAh capacity strikes an excellent balance between runtime and weight, whilst the 60C discharge rate provides sufficient current delivery for recreational bashing and competitive racing alike. If you're shopping for a reliable, ready-to-use RC car battery in the UK, this Gens Ace G-Tech pack delivers the performance, quality and affordability that serious hobbyists expect.

Key Features

  • 5500mAh Capacity — The generous 5500mAh energy store provides extended runtime on a single charge, allowing you to enjoy longer driving sessions without frequent battery swaps during your RC car outings.
  • 7.6V HV (High Voltage) Chemistry — Operating at 7.6V nominal (2S HV configuration), this battery delivers higher peak voltage than standard 7.4V packs, resulting in improved acceleration, top speed and overall power delivery compared to conventional LiPo cells.
  • 60C Continuous Discharge Rate — The 60C rating ensures the battery can safely deliver the sustained current demand of most RC cars without voltage sag or performance loss, making it suitable for both steady-state bashing and moderate competition driving.
  • Hardcase Construction — The rigid plastic hard case protects the cells from damage during transport, storage and track-side use, extending the battery's lifespan and maintaining safety by preventing punctures and impacts that could compromise cell integrity.
  • T-Plug/Deans Connector — The widely-used T-Plug connector ensures compatibility with the majority of RC cars currently available in the UK market, eliminating the need for expensive adapter harnesses and simplifying your setup.
  • Compact Dimensions — Measuring just 139mm x 46mm x 25mm, this battery fits neatly into standard RC car battery trays without requiring modifications to your vehicle's chassis or weight distribution, maintaining optimal handling characteristics.
  • Lightweight at 240g — The relatively light weight helps minimise the vehicle's overall mass, preserving agility and responsiveness whilst still housing sufficient capacity for meaningful runtime.
  • 2S1P Cell Configuration — The single-parallel arrangement of two series cells provides the voltage and current characteristics needed for general RC car use, whilst maintaining reliable cell balancing and safety.
  • Excellent Side-Tech and Consistent Output Power — Gens Ace's proprietary manufacturing ensures even voltage delivery throughout the discharge cycle, preventing the performance cliff that older batteries experience as they deplete.
  • Versatile Compatibility — This hardcase LiPo works with most 2S-compatible RC cars currently in circulation, including stadium trucks, buggies, and other popular platforms available through UK retailers.

Technical Performance

The Gens Ace G-Tech 5500mAh 7.6V 60C HV battery represents a mature, well-engineered power solution that has proven its reliability in the hands of thousands of RC enthusiasts worldwide. The choice of 7.6V HV chemistry over standard 7.4V cells provides a meaningful performance boost—approximately 2.7% higher nominal voltage translates to noticeably snappier throttle response, quicker acceleration and slightly higher top speed across most RC cars, particularly those equipped with brushless motors. The 60C continuous discharge rating equates to a maximum safe current output of 330 amps (60C × 5.5Ah), more than sufficient for brushless systems drawing 100–200A during spirited driving. The hardcase construction employs rigid, impact-resistant plastic that protects against the minor bumps and vibrations that occur during normal RC car operation, whilst remaining lightweight enough not to significantly increase your vehicle's overall mass or alter its balance. This battery is engineered for recreational and light-competition use, delivering consistent performance across the entire charge cycle without the voltage sag issues that plague poorly-designed or over-discharged packs. The 2S1P configuration ensures reliable cell balancing through the charge cycle, extending cycle life and maintaining safety margins. For hobbyists in the UK exploring ready to run RC cars or those looking to upgrade an existing platform, this Gens Ace battery offers the confidence of a proven product backed by the manufacturer's quality reputation.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this battery suitable for beginners and entry-level RC car enthusiasts in the UK? — Absolutely. The Gens Ace G-Tech 5500mAh is specifically marketed as an entry-level and leisure-use battery pack, delivering good performance and quality at a cost-friendly price point. It requires no special knowledge to use—simply connect it to a compatible charger and your RC car's ESC via the T-Plug connector. Beginners will appreciate its reliability and the extended runtime that 5500mAh provides compared to smaller capacity packs.
  • What's the difference between this 7.6V HV battery and standard 7.4V LiPo packs? — The key difference lies in the cell chemistry and nominal voltage. This 7.6V HV (High Voltage) pack operates at a higher nominal voltage than standard 7.4V packs, delivering approximately 2.7% more energy and noticeably improved acceleration and top speed. HV chemistry typically maintains voltage better under load, reducing voltage sag during demanding driving. The trade-off is marginally shorter cycle life compared to standard chemistry, though for recreational users this is rarely a concern.
  • Will this battery work with my RC car? — The battery is compatible with any RC car that accepts a 2S hardcase LiPo with a T-Plug/Deans connector. Most modern RC cars in the UK accept this connector type. Check your vehicle's manual or specifications to confirm it supports 2S battery packs and features a matching connector. If your RC car uses a different plug (such as XT60 or iEC2), you will need an adapter harness.
  • How long will a single charge last in my RC car? — Runtime depends heavily on your driving style, motor efficiency, and terrain. With a 5500mAh capacity, you can typically expect 20–40 minutes of continuous driving on reasonably flat ground with moderate throttle use. Aggressive driving, high-speed racing and uphill terrain will reduce runtime significantly. Most RC hobbyists purchase multiple batteries to rotate during a day at the track or field.
  • What charger do I need to charge this battery? — You will need a charger capable of accepting 2S LiPo packs and featuring a balance-charging function to ensure even charge distribution across both cells. A simple two-pin connector charger is not recommended. Professional-grade chargers allow you to set charging current (typically 5500mA for this battery) and monitor cell voltages during the process. Ensure your charger is rated for LiPo chemistry to avoid fire risk or damage.
  • Is the hardcase necessary, or is it just extra weight? — The hardcase is a genuine safety and longevity feature, not mere padding. It protects the delicate LiPo cells from punctures, impacts and accidental damage that could cause internal shorts, fires or performance loss. During RC car use, batteries experience constant vibration and occasional minor impacts—the hardcase prevents these from causing cell damage. The weight penalty (approximately 50–70g) is negligible compared to the protection gained.
  • How should I store this battery? — Store the battery in a cool, dry place at room temperature, ideally in a fireproof LiPo storage bag. Charge it to 50% (approximately 3.8V per cell, or 7.6V total for 2S) if you plan to store it for more than a few weeks, as this prolongs overall cell lifespan. Never store a fully charged or fully depleted battery. Keep the hardcase intact and store away from metal objects that could cause short circuits.
  • Can I use this battery in multiple RC cars? — Yes, provided each car features a compatible 2S hardcase slot and T-Plug connector. Many UK RC enthusiasts maintain a small fleet of vehicles and rotate batteries between them. Simply disconnect the battery from one car, allow it to cool slightly, and connect to the next vehicle. This extends your overall driving time without requiring an excessive number of batteries.
