Overview

The ARRMA Pinion Gear 20T MOD 0.5 CNC 3.2mm Bore (Z-ARA-2029) is an essential replacement component for RC enthusiasts running ARRMA 1/16 and 1/14 scale brushless RC vehicles. Whether you're piloting a Mini Kraton, Mojave Grom, or Typhon Grom across challenging terrain or bash tracks, this precision-engineered pinion gear delivers the reliability and performance you need to keep your RC car UK setup running at peak efficiency. This tough steel gear is purpose-built to handle the demands of extreme RC conditions, making it an ideal spare part for competitive racers, weekend bashers, and anyone serious about maintaining their high-performance RC models.

As a direct replacement component, the 20T pinion gear is compatible with a wide range of ARRMA's popular 3S and brushless models, offering hobbyists the opportunity to fine-tune their vehicle's performance characteristics. The MOD 0.5 pitch standard ensures perfect compatibility with your vehicle's spur gear, whilst the 3.2mm bore accommodates standard brushless RC motor shafts found across ARRMA's product range. Whether you're upgrading your ready to run RC buggy or maintaining a well-used competition machine, this pinion gear represents the quality and precision engineering you've come to expect from ARRMA.

Constructed from high-grade steel and precision-manufactured using CNC processes, this pinion gear combines durability with smooth operation, delivering consistent performance lap after lap and bash after bash. The included M3 x 4mm set screw ensures secure fastening to your motor shaft, eliminating the risk of slippage during intense driving sessions.

Key Features

  • Strong and durable steel construction — This pinion gear is manufactured from tough steel specifically selected for its ability to withstand the extreme forces generated during acceleration, deceleration, and cornering in high-performance RC driving, ensuring you get reliable performance session after session without premature wear or tooth damage.
  • Precision manufactured tooth profile — The CNC-engineered tooth profile guarantees smooth, efficient meshing with your vehicle's spur gear, reducing noise, vibration, and mechanical losses whilst maximising power transmission efficiency from your brushless motor to the drivetrain.
  • CNC precision manufacturing — Every gear is produced using advanced computer numerically controlled machining processes, ensuring tolerances are held to exacting standards, which guarantees perfect fit and finish across every example of this component.
  • 3.2mm motor shaft bore — This industry-standard bore diameter is compatible with the vast majority of brushless RC motors, including all ARRMA's current brushless powerplants, making replacement and upgrades straightforward and hassle-free.
  • Precision manufactured set screw hole — The accurately drilled and threaded set screw hole accepts the included M3 x 4mm fastener, providing rock-solid fixing that eliminates wobble and ensures concentricity with the motor shaft for reliable power delivery.
  • MOD 0.5 gear pitch — This standard pitch specification ensures perfect compatibility with ARRMA spur gears and drivetrain components, allowing you to maintain optimal gear mesh clearance and performance characteristics across your vehicle's transmission.
  • 20-tooth configuration — The 20T tooth count represents a mid-range pinion size that balances acceleration and top speed, making it suitable for general-purpose driving across various terrain types and driving styles on ready to run RC vehicles.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Pinion Gear 20T MOD 0.5 represents the pinnacle of precision gear manufacturing for RC applications. Constructed from hardened steel and finished with CNC precision, this component is engineered to deliver exceptional durability and performance across all driving conditions. The MOD 0.5 pitch is the industry standard for modern RC gear systems, ensuring seamless integration with your ARRMA vehicle's transmission and spur gear. The 3.2mm bore perfectly accommodates brushless motor shafts, providing a secure, concentrically mounted interface that eliminates runout and ensures efficient power transfer. The precision manufactured set screw hole guarantees a perfect fit for the included M3 x 4mm fastener, allowing you to secure the gear with confidence. Whether you're running a 3S brushless system in a Mini Kraton, Mojave Grom, or Typhon Grom, this pinion gear will perform reliably under demanding conditions. The tooth profile has been meticulously engineered to mesh smoothly with spur gears, minimising mesh losses and vibration whilst maximising efficiency. This is a genuine ARRMA component, manufactured to the same exacting standards as the parts installed in factory RTR vehicles, making it the intelligent choice for anyone serious about their RC car UK hobby.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the ARRMA 20T pinion gear suitable for brushless RC vehicles? — Yes, absolutely. This pinion gear is specifically designed for ARRMA's brushless RC models and is compatible with the 3.2mm motor shafts found on all current ARRMA brushless powerplants. The 20T configuration provides a balanced gear ratio suitable for general-purpose driving on both speed and bashers.
  • What vehicles is this 20T pinion gear compatible with? — This gear is compatible with multiple ARRMA 1/16 and 1/14 scale models including the Mini Kraton 3S, Mojave Grom 223S, and Typhon Grom 223S in both standard and battery/charger-included variants. Check the compatibility list on this page to confirm your specific model matches.
  • What is the difference between 18T, 19T, 20T, 21T, 23T pinion gears? — The tooth count affects your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. Smaller tooth counts (lower T) provide faster acceleration and lower top speed, whilst larger tooth counts provide higher top speed but reduced acceleration. The 20T represents a mid-range option suitable for balanced performance.
  • Can I use this pinion gear with other RC brands? — This is specifically designed for ARRMA vehicles with MOD 0.5 spur gears and 3.2mm motor shafts. Other manufacturers may use different pitch standards or bore diameters, so always verify compatibility before purchasing replacement parts for non-ARRMA vehicles.
  • What size is the set screw included in this package? — The package includes one M3 x 4mm set screw, which is the standard fastener for securing MOD 0.5 pinion gears to 3.2mm motor shafts in ARRMA RC vehicles. This size provides adequate clamping force without stripping the screw hole.
  • Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent beginner-friendly replacement component. If you already own an ARRMA ready to run RC vehicle and need a spare or replacement pinion gear, installation is straightforward: simply slide the gear onto your motor shaft and secure it with the set screw using an Allen key.
  • How often will I need to replace my pinion gear? — With proper maintenance and appropriate driving, a steel pinion gear should last for many hours of use. However, if you notice tooth wear, chipping, or noise changes during driving, replacement is recommended. Regular cleaning and lubrication of the gear mesh extends component lifespan significantly.
