Overview
The Blade BLH-1689 Tail Drive Belt Alignment Guide Set is an essential upgrade for owners of the Blade Fusion 700 helicopter who want to maintain precision and reliability in their tail drive system. This specialist maintenance and alignment component is designed to keep your tail drive belt running true, ensuring smooth operation and extending the lifespan of your RC helicopter's critical drivetrain. Whether you are an experienced RC helicopter pilot maintaining a competition machine or an enthusiast keen to keep your Fusion 700 in peak condition, this belt alignment guide set provides the professional-grade solution you need.
The tail drive belt is one of the most important mechanical systems in a helicopter, responsible for transmitting power from the main motor to the tail rotor. Any misalignment in this belt can lead to premature wear, reduced efficiency, vibration and ultimately component failure. The BLH-1689 addresses these issues with a carefully engineered solution that stabilises and guides the belt with precision. This is the kind of upgrade that separates serious RC helicopter enthusiasts from casual users, making it an essential part of any Fusion 700 maintenance kit.
Available now at RC Model Shop, the UK's trusted independent retailer for premium RC helicopters and spares, the BLH-1689 Tail Drive Belt Alignment Guide Set combines quality engineering with straightforward installation. Each set is supplied complete with all necessary components, allowing you to undertake this important upgrade with confidence.
Key Features
- Pulleys with Ball Bearings — The set includes two pulleys equipped with ball bearings that roll smoothly to guide and support the tail drive belt without binding or slipping. Ball bearing construction is critical for reducing friction and heat generation in high-speed applications, ensuring your helicopter operates with maximum efficiency and minimal energy waste.
- Dedicated Mounting Block — A purpose-designed mounting block provides the structural foundation for the entire alignment guide system. This component is engineered to bolt securely to your helicopter's frame, offering rock-solid stability that prevents belt wandering and ensures consistent alignment throughout flight operations.
- Alignment Brace — Included in the set is a dedicated alignment brace that works in conjunction with the mounting block and pulleys to create a complete guidance system. This brace maintains precise geometric alignment of the belt path, preventing the belt from shifting laterally during operation when vibration and centrifugal forces are at their peak.
- Complete Hardware Package — The set includes all necessary fasteners to complete installation: two M3x22mm bolts and four M3x8mm bolts. Having the correct hardware included eliminates the need to hunt for compatible fixings and ensures your installation is done properly with components that have been designed to work together.
- Improved Belt Longevity — By maintaining perfect alignment, this guide set reduces uneven wear on your tail drive belt, meaning it will last significantly longer before requiring replacement. For RC helicopter enthusiasts flying regularly, this translates directly to lower maintenance costs and more time in the air.
- Smoother Operation — A perfectly aligned belt runs more smoothly and efficiently, reducing vibration transmitted to the helicopter's frame. This results in more stable flight characteristics and can help extend the life of other mechanical components that might otherwise suffer from sustained vibration.
- Professional Installation Standard — This is the type of upgrade found on well-maintained competition and professional RC helicopters. Installing the BLH-1689 brings your Fusion 700 up to the standard expected in serious flying circles.
Technical Performance
The Blade BLH-1689 Tail Drive Belt Alignment Guide Set represents precise engineering focused on a single critical function: keeping your Fusion 700's tail drive belt in perfect alignment under all operating conditions. The two ball-bearing pulleys are the heart of this system, offering low-friction support that minimises drag whilst maintaining exact belt positioning. Ball bearing construction is essential in RC helicopter applications where the belt operates at high speeds and endures significant centrifugal forces. The mounting block and alignment brace work together to create a rigid framework that anchors the pulley system to your helicopter's frame with absolute positional accuracy. The inclusion of specific M3 fasteners in two different lengths ensures that all components can be secured appropriately — the longer M3x22mm bolts handling primary structural attachment whilst the shorter M3x8mm bolts secure secondary components. This attention to detail in hardware specification demonstrates Blade's commitment to quality and proper engineering. Installation is straightforward for users with basic mechanical skills and experience working on RC helicopters, requiring only simple hand tools and careful attention to alignment during setup. Once installed, the system requires minimal maintenance beyond regular visual inspection to ensure fasteners remain secure.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why do I need a tail drive belt alignment guide for my Blade Fusion 700? — The tail rotor is critical to helicopter stability and control. The tail drive belt that powers it must remain in perfect alignment to operate efficiently and avoid premature wear. Over time, without a proper alignment guide system, belts can drift slightly out of position due to vibration and centrifugal forces, leading to uneven wear, increased friction and ultimately belt failure. This kit prevents that problem from occurring.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a maintenance and upgrade component rather than a complete system, so it is most suitable for users who already own a Blade Fusion 700 and have experience working on RC helicopters. If you are new to RC helicopters, we recommend learning the basics of your Fusion 700 first, then considering this upgrade as you develop your mechanical skills. RC Model Shop staff are happy to offer guidance on installation if needed.
- What tools will I need to install this? — Installation requires only basic hand tools: a small hex key set to fit the M3 bolts and a torque-limiting screwdriver or hex key will ensure fasteners are tightened to appropriate tension without over-tightening. You will also need access to your Fusion 700's tail drive system, which may require partial disassembly depending on your helicopter's current configuration.
- How does this improve my helicopter's performance? — By maintaining perfect belt alignment, this guide set reduces friction and heat generation in the tail drive system, meaning more efficient power transfer and smoother operation. You will notice more stable flight characteristics, particularly during hovering and precision manoeuvres where the tail rotor's precision is most critical. Additionally, reduced mechanical stress extends component life across your entire helicopter.
- Is this an official Blade product? — Yes, this is an authentic Blade component manufactured by Blade Helicopters, the recognised leader in RC helicopter design and production. The part number BLH-1689 is the official designation for the Fusion 700 Tail Drive Belt Alignment Guide Set.
- Will this work on other Blade helicopter models? — This kit is specifically designed and tested for the Blade Fusion 700. Whilst similar issues with belt alignment may exist on other helicopter models, we recommend verifying compatibility before attempting installation on any other aircraft. RC Model Shop staff can advise on compatibility if you have questions about alternative applications.
