Overview
The Blade 6x13x5mm Flanged Ball Bearing set (part number BLH-1668) is an essential maintenance and upgrade component for RC enthusiasts who demand smooth, precise running in their models. Whether you're an experienced RC car UK builder or someone looking to maintain peak performance in your RC helicopter or other RC model, these flanged ball bearings represent a straightforward, practical solution for routine maintenance and general component replacement. The flanged design ensures reliable operation whilst the specific 6x13x5mm dimensions make these bearings compatible with a wide range of Blade RC models and similar applications across the hobby.
Maintaining your RC model with quality replacement parts is crucial for ensuring longevity and consistent performance. Ball bearings are among the most critical components in any RC system, as they reduce friction and enable smooth rotation of shafts and axles. Over time, bearings can wear out, develop play, or accumulate dirt and debris, leading to decreased efficiency and potential mechanical failure. By investing in genuine Blade replacement bearings, you're taking a proactive approach to maintaining your RC investment and ensuring your model continues to perform at its best.
The Blade brand is recognised across the RC hobby for producing quality components and complete RC models. These 6x13x5mm flanged ball bearings are specifically designed to meet the exacting standards of Blade RC products, offering dependable performance whether you're flying an RC helicopter, driving an RC car, or operating any other RC model that utilises this bearing size. Choosing genuine OEM replacement parts ensures perfect fitment and compatibility, eliminating guesswork and potential compatibility issues that can arise when using generic or inferior alternatives.
Key Features
- Flanged Design — The flanged construction provides axial location and containment, preventing the bearing from sliding along the shaft and ensuring it maintains its correct position under operational loads and vibration.
- 6x13x5mm Size Specification — These bearings feature precisely engineered dimensions that ensure perfect compatibility with Blade RC models and other applications designed for this standard bearing size, guaranteeing correct fitment without modification.
- High-Precision Ball Construction — Quality ball bearings reduce friction and enable smooth rotation, which is essential for maintaining the responsiveness and efficiency of your RC model during operation.
- Set of Four Units — This pack contains four individual flanged ball bearings, providing you with multiple replacement options or allowing you to service multiple areas of your RC model in one purchase.
- Genuine Blade Component — As an official Blade part number (BLH-1668), these bearings are manufactured to exacting specifications and represent the same quality standard used in factory-built Blade RC models.
Technical Performance
The 6x13x5mm flanged ball bearing represents a fundamental but essential component in RC model engineering. The outer diameter of 13mm combined with the 6mm inner bore and 5mm width creates a compact yet robust bearing suitable for moderate-load applications typical in RC helicopters, RC cars, and similar models. The flanged design is particularly important in RC applications, where vibration and dynamic loading can cause standard bearings to migrate along their shafts, potentially causing misalignment or mechanical failure. By incorporating the flange, Blade has engineered these bearings to maintain precise axial positioning even under the demanding conditions encountered during RC flight or driving. The ball elements themselves are manufactured from high-quality steel, providing durability and resistance to wear over extended use. These bearings are a direct fit for Blade RC models and represent a standard fitment part, meaning they can be installed without modification or adjustment to the receiving component. Whether you're performing routine maintenance on an existing RC model or building a custom RC setup using compatible components, these bearings provide reliable performance and peace of mind.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What are flanged ball bearings used for in RC models? — Flanged ball bearings are used throughout RC models to enable smooth rotation of shafts and axles whilst minimising friction. The flange serves as an axial stop, preventing the bearing from moving along the shaft. This is particularly important in RC helicopters, RC cars, and other models where mechanical precision and reliability are essential for safe operation.
- How often should I replace the ball bearings in my RC model? — The frequency of bearing replacement depends on usage intensity and maintenance practices. Regular inspection during routine maintenance can help identify bearings that are showing signs of wear, such as grinding sounds, rough rotation, or visible damage. For RC models used frequently or in demanding conditions, bearings may need replacement more often than those used occasionally.
- Are these Blade bearings compatible with other RC brands? — Whilst these are specifically designed for Blade RC products, the 6x13x5mm flanged bearing size is a standard dimension used across multiple RC manufacturers. However, RC Model Shop recommends checking your specific model's documentation to confirm compatibility before purchase. Using the correct OEM part ensures perfect fitment and eliminates compatibility concerns.
- What is the difference between flanged and non-flanged bearings? — Non-flanged bearings lack the outer flange and therefore can slide along a shaft unless retained by other means, such as a retaining ring or shaft collar. Flanged bearings have an integral outer flange that serves as an axial stop, maintaining precise positioning. In RC applications, flanged bearings are preferred where axial positioning must be maintained automatically and reliably.
- Do I need any tools to replace these bearings? — Bearing replacement in RC models typically requires bearing pullers or similar extraction tools, depending on the specific application and how the bearings are retained in your model. Most RC enthusiasts in the UK keep a selection of bearing pullers and installation tools in their workshop for regular maintenance tasks. RC Model Shop staff can advise on the specific tools needed for your particular model.
