Key Features
- Genuine Traxxas OEM Part — This is the original manufacturer spur gear, ensuring perfect fitment and compatibility with your Traxxas RC vehicle. Using authentic Traxxas parts guarantees you receive components engineered to the highest standards and designed to work seamlessly with your existing drivetrain components.
- 61-tooth Configuration — The 61-tooth count determines your vehicle's top speed and acceleration characteristics by controlling the gear ratio between the motor pinion and the spur gear. This tooth count is specifically designed for particular Traxxas models to deliver the ideal balance of speed and torque for optimal performance and drivability.
- Precision Engineered Teeth — Each tooth is precisely machined to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth meshing with your pinion gear and minimising drivetrain noise, vibration, and wear. Proper tooth engagement is critical for efficient power transfer and extends the life of both the spur gear and pinion gear.
- Durable Construction — Built from tough materials selected by Traxxas engineers, this spur gear withstands the stresses of high-performance driving, whether you're accelerating hard, cornering aggressively, or navigating rough terrain in your RC car.
- Essential Maintenance Item — As a wear item that experiences constant rotational forces during operation, having replacement spur gears available ensures you can maintain your RC car's performance and keep your vehicle ready for action without extended downtime waiting for parts to arrive.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas Spur 61-tooth TRX7641 is a precision-engineered drivetrain component that plays a vital role in determining your RC car's performance characteristics. The spur gear meshes directly with the pinion gear mounted on your motor shaft, and together they form a mechanical system that converts rotational motor speed and torque into wheel movement. The 61-tooth count on this spur gear, when paired with your specific pinion gear, creates a gear ratio that influences both acceleration and top speed. A higher tooth count on the spur gear results in lower final drive speeds but stronger acceleration and torque delivery, making it suitable for different driving styles and terrain types. The precision-machined teeth ensure smooth, quiet operation and efficient power transfer with minimal energy loss. This genuine Traxxas part is manufactured to the same specifications as the spur gears that came with your RC vehicle, guaranteeing compatibility and performance. Regular inspection and replacement of your spur gear as part of preventative maintenance helps maintain your RC car's peak performance and prevents damage to associated drivetrain components. For UK RC car enthusiasts running brushless electric systems, maintaining quality drivetrain components like this spur gear is essential for reliable, consistent performance whether you're enjoying casual bashing or competitive racing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a spur gear and why do I need a replacement? — The spur gear is a critical drivetrain component that meshes with your motor's pinion gear to transfer power to your RC car's wheels. Over time, especially with regular use, the teeth on the spur gear can become worn, chipped, or damaged from impact or aggressive driving. When this happens, you'll experience poor acceleration, noise, vibration, or loss of power. A replacement spur gear like the TRX7641 restores your RC car's performance and prevents damage to other drivetrain components such as the pinion gear, transmission, and differential.
- How do I know if my spur gear needs replacing? — Signs that your spur gear requires replacement include grinding or whining noises from the drivetrain, difficulty accelerating smoothly, visible chips or cracks in the gear teeth, or excessive play or backlash in the drivetrain. If you've crashed your RC car hard or notice performance degradation, inspect your spur gear for damage.
- Is this compatible with my Traxxas RC car? — The TRX7641 is a genuine Traxxas part engineered for specific Traxxas models. You should verify that this 61-tooth spur gear is correct for your particular vehicle model before ordering. Consult your vehicle's manual or contact RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility, as different Traxxas models may use different spur gear tooth counts.
- What is the difference between a 61-tooth spur gear and other tooth counts? — The tooth count directly affects your RC car's performance. A 61-tooth spur gear paired with a smaller pinion gear creates a lower gear ratio, resulting in faster top speed but lower acceleration. Conversely, a smaller spur gear tooth count combined with a larger pinion creates a higher gear ratio, delivering stronger acceleration but lower maximum speed. The 61-tooth configuration is designed for specific Traxxas models and driving characteristics, so it's important to use the correct tooth count specified for your vehicle.
- How often should I replace my spur gear? — Spur gear lifespan depends on driving frequency, terrain, driving style, and maintenance practices. Casual weekend bashers might replace their spur gear every several months, whilst competitive racers may change gears more frequently. Regular maintenance, proper lubrication of drivetrain components, and avoiding extended periods of high-load driving can extend spur gear life. Always carry spare spur gears so you can quickly swap one if needed during a driving session.
- Is this a genuine Traxxas part? — Yes, the TRX7641 is the genuine Traxxas OEM spur gear. Using authentic Traxxas parts ensures proper fitment, correct performance, and longevity. Genuine parts are engineered to work together as a system, so choosing OEM components for your RC car is always the best choice for reliability and performance.
