This motor is perfect for builders who understand their power requirements and are looking to integrate a reliable brushless motor into an existing build or custom project. The 2000kv specification means this motor will spin faster under load compared to lower kv variants, making it ideal for applications where high speed is a priority. Whether you're upgrading a ready-to-run RC model or constructing a bespoke racing machine, the SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor delivers consistent performance and durability you can rely on.
Key Features
- 1810 Frame Size — This compact yet powerful frame dimension is a popular standard in RC applications, offering an excellent balance between weight and power output, making it suitable for a wide range of vehicle types and aerial platforms used in the UK RC hobby scene.
- 2000kv Rating — The kv (kilovolt) specification determines the motor's speed characteristics, with 2000kv providing high RPM output that translates to faster acceleration and top-end speed, ideal for performance-focused builds where responsiveness matters.
- 12-Pole Configuration — The 12-pole magnetic arrangement ensures smooth, efficient power delivery with minimal cogging, resulting in refined acceleration curves and better overall motor efficiency compared to lower pole-count alternatives.
- Brushless Technology — Brushless motors eliminate the wear and maintenance issues associated with traditional brushed motors, offering extended lifespan, consistent performance over time, and dramatically improved efficiency that extends flight or run times.
- Spektrum Quality Assurance — Manufactured by Spektrum, a brand with decades of RC expertise, this motor meets stringent quality standards and is backed by the reliability expected from one of the hobby's most respected accessory manufacturers.
Technical Performance
The SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor M-SPMXAM2900 represents premium brushless motor engineering specifically designed for demanding RC applications. The 1810 frame size houses the 12-pole stator and rotor assembly, which work in concert to deliver smooth, efficient power across the entire throttle range. At 2000kv, this motor is engineered to deliver high rotational speeds that translate into impressive performance characteristics for speed-focused builds. The brushless design eliminates carbon brush wear, meaning you get consistent performance throughout the motor's operational life without the degradation and maintenance headaches of brushed alternatives. The motor's outrunner configuration—where the outer can rotates around a fixed stator—provides excellent heat dissipation properties, allowing the motor to run cool even under sustained high-load conditions typical in competitive UK RC racing and bashing. Spektrum's attention to winding quality and magnetic alignment ensures this motor produces smooth power delivery with minimal vibration, critical for precision flying or driving where stability directly impacts control authority and performance. This motor requires compatibility assessment with your chosen ESC (electronic speed controller) and power system; ensure your ESC supports the voltage and current requirements of your intended battery configuration, whether that's 2S, 3S, or higher LiPo cells depending on your specific application. The brushless outrunner format is proven across thousands of RC builds worldwide, from FPV racing drones to high-speed RC cars, making it a sensible choice for anyone seeking reliability and performance from a motor that's already trusted by the RC community.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a brushless outrunner motor and why should I choose one for my RC model? — A brushless outrunner motor is an electric motor where the magnetic bell rotates around a fixed armature, delivering power without carbon brushes. Outrunner motors are favoured in RC applications because they offer superior efficiency, longer lifespan, cooler running temperatures, and better power-to-weight ratios compared to brushed alternatives. The absence of brushes means no friction losses or maintenance, making them ideal for both casual RC car UK enthusiasts and serious racers seeking maximum runtime and performance consistency.
- What does 2000kv mean and how does it affect performance? — The kv rating (kilovolts per volt) determines how fast the motor spins per volt of input. A 2000kv motor will spin at approximately 2000 RPM for every volt applied. Higher kv motors spin faster and are typically used for speed-focused applications where quick acceleration and high top-end velocity are priorities. If you're building a high-speed RC vehicle or racing drone, 2000kv is an excellent choice; for slower, more controlled applications, lower kv motors may be more appropriate.
- Is this motor suitable for beginners? — This motor is best suited to builders with intermediate RC knowledge who understand motor specifications, ESC compatibility, and power system requirements. Beginners looking for a ready-to-run RC model may prefer ready-assembled systems; however, builders who are ready to create custom setups will find this Spektrum motor to be a reliable, high-quality component that delivers excellent performance and durability throughout the learning journey.
- What battery does this motor need? — The motor itself doesn't have a specific battery requirement; compatibility depends on your chosen ESC (electronic speed controller) and the voltage rating of your power system. Most brushless RC applications use LiPo batteries ranging from 2S (7.4V) through 6S (22.2V) and beyond, though you'll need to match your ESC's voltage rating to your battery configuration. Consult your ESC documentation and ensure both components support the same battery voltage range as your motor system.
- What ESC does this motor require? — The SPM Brushless Outrunner Motor is compatible with any brushless ESC rated for your intended battery voltage and current requirements. You'll need to select an ESC that can handle the current draw of your specific application—factors like battery capacity, motor load, and vehicle weight all influence current requirements. Spektrum manufactures compatible ESCs, or you can choose from reputable brands like Hobbywing, Castle, or Turnigy; ensure your ESC selection is suitable for your battery voltage and weight class of vehicle.
- What makes the 12-pole configuration different from other pole counts? — The 12-pole magnetic arrangement refers to the number of magnetic poles in the stator. More poles generally deliver smoother commutation, better efficiency, and more predictable power curves. The 12-pole design in this Spektrum motor ensures refined acceleration characteristics and minimal cogging (resistance to rotation from magnetic attraction), resulting in smoother, more responsive control compared to motors with fewer poles.
