Overview
The PROLUX 4.8V-9.6V AC Adaptor TX/RX Charger (PX2114) is an essential piece of equipment for RC enthusiasts across the UK who operate Futaba radio-controlled systems. This dedicated charger has been engineered specifically to provide reliable power management for both transmitter and receiver battery packs, making it an indispensable addition to any serious RC modeller's workshop. Whether you are running a 1/10 scale RC car, an RC buggy, RC monster truck, or any other radio-controlled vehicle that relies on Futaba-compatible equipment, this UK-plug adaptor delivers the precise voltage regulation needed to keep your equipment running at peak performance.
Designed with both Ni-MH and Ni-Cd battery pack compatibility, this AC adaptor offers versatility for those with mixed battery inventories. The compact and lightweight design makes it perfect for home charging stations, and the robust UK plug means it works seamlessly with standard British mains power throughout the United Kingdom. For RC hobbyists looking for a straightforward, no-nonsense charging solution that doesn't require complicated setup procedures, the PROLUX PX2114 represents excellent value for money and dependable performance.
The charger's dual-output design is specifically engineered to handle the different voltage requirements of transmitter and receiver units independently. This means you can charge both your TX and RX packs simultaneously without any need for switching between different adaptors or waiting for sequential charging cycles. It's the kind of practical thinking that separates a good charger from a great one, and it's why this model remains popular among experienced RC car UK enthusiasts and casual hobbyists alike.
Key Features
- Dual TX/RX Output Design — This charger provides separate, independently regulated outputs for both transmitter (9.6V) and receiver (4.8-6V) packs, allowing you to charge both units simultaneously without cross-interference or voltage regulation conflicts.
- Futaba Compatibility — The female Futaba connector combined with the standard TX plug ensures seamless connection to Futaba radio systems, which are among the most widely used radio control systems in the UK RC community.
- Ni-MH and Ni-Cd Battery Support — This charger is specifically designed to work with both Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery chemistry, offering flexibility if you have older battery packs or prefer this proven battery technology.
- UK Mains Compatible — The integrated UK plug connects directly to standard British household mains power (AC 220-240V, 50Hz), eliminating the need for travel adaptors or additional converters anywhere in the United Kingdom.
- Compact and Lightweight Design — Measuring just 57x43x38mm (excluding the plug) and weighing only 194 grams, this charger takes up minimal space on your workshop shelf or charging station, making it ideal for modellers with limited storage space.
- Regulated Output Currents — Both TX and RX outputs provide a consistent 100mA charging current, ensuring safe and reliable charging without risk of overcharging or voltage spikes that could damage your precious RC equipment.
- Robust Construction — The solid build quality reflects PROLUX's reputation for manufacturing reliable RC hobby equipment that stands up to regular workshop use over many seasons of RC action.
Technical Performance
The PROLUX 4.8V-9.6V AC Adaptor TX/RX Charger delivers professional-grade power management in a compact package designed specifically for Futaba radio systems. The charger accepts standard UK mains AC power at 220-240V, 50Hz and converts it into precisely regulated DC outputs through independent voltage regulation circuits for TX and RX charging channels. The transmitter output provides a full 9.6V at 100mA, which is the standard voltage for most Futaba TX battery packs, whilst the receiver output delivers a selectable 4.8-6V DC at 100mA to accommodate the varying voltage requirements of different receiver configurations. This independent output design ensures that the voltage delivered to each connector remains stable and free from interference, regardless of what is being charged on the other channel. The charger's engineering prioritises reliability and safety, with consistent current delivery preventing the rapid charging damage that can occur with unregulated power supplies. The compact dimensions and lightweight construction make this an ideal addition to any UK RC workshop, from backyard basher setups to serious competition environments, and the female Futaba connector combined with standard TX plug compatibility ensures universal fit with virtually all Futaba-equipped RC systems currently in use across British RC clubs and hobby shops.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this charger suitable for charging my Futaba radio equipment? — Yes, this charger is purpose-built for Futaba radio systems and features both a female Futaba connector and standard TX plug to ensure compatibility with virtually all Futaba transmitter and receiver battery packs currently in use across the UK RC market.
- Can I charge both my transmitter and receiver at the same time? — Absolutely. The dual output design is specifically engineered to allow simultaneous charging of both TX and RX packs, each with its own independent voltage regulation circuit, so you can charge both units without waiting for sequential charging cycles.
- What battery chemistry does this charger support? — This charger is designed to work with both Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel-Cadmium (Ni-Cd) battery packs, offering compatibility with a wide range of battery types used in Futaba radio systems.
- What voltage does the charger provide to my transmitter? — The transmitter output provides a regulated 9.6V DC at 100mA, which is the standard voltage requirement for most Futaba transmitter battery packs used in RC cars, buggies, trucks and other radio-controlled vehicles.
- What voltage does the receiver output provide? — The receiver output provides variable voltage between 4.8V and 6.0V DC at 100mA, accommodating the different voltage requirements of various receiver configurations and allowing you to match the output to your specific receiver's needs.
- Is this charger safe for my expensive radio equipment? — Yes. The PROLUX charger features independently regulated outputs with consistent 100mA current limiting on both TX and RX channels, preventing voltage spikes or overcharging that could damage delicate radio receiver electronics or transmitter circuits.
- Will this charger work with my UK household electricity supply? — Perfectly. The integrated UK plug connects directly to standard British mains power (AC 220-240V, 50Hz), so there is no need for travel adaptors or converters anywhere in the United Kingdom.
- How long does it take to charge a Futaba battery pack? — Charging time depends on your battery pack's capacity, but with a consistent 100mA output, most standard Futaba TX and RX packs will charge fully within 10-15 hours, making this ideal for overnight charging before your next RC session.
