Overview
The Losi Front Fork Spring Set for Promoto-MX and Promoto-SM motorcycles is an essential suspension tuning component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand precision handling and customised performance. Whether you're racing competitively or enjoying casual bashng with your Losi 1/4 scale motorcycle RC model, this comprehensive spring kit gives you complete control over your suspension setup. Available from RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer, this tune-up set offers the flexibility to dial in exactly the right suspension characteristics for your riding style and track conditions.
Spring tuning is one of the most effective ways to optimise your RC motorcycle's performance without investing in entirely new suspension components. By selecting from soft, medium, or hard spring options, you can fine-tune how your Promoto-MX or Promoto-SM responds to bumps, jumps, and cornering forces. This level of customisation is particularly valuable for RC enthusiasts in the UK who compete regularly or want to extract maximum performance from their machines. The included variety of spring rates means you're not locked into a single setup, allowing you to experiment and find the perfect balance between comfort and responsiveness.
Losi is a recognised leader in precision RC vehicle design and manufacturing, and their engineering expertise shines through in every component they produce. This spring set represents genuine factory tuning parts, ensuring complete compatibility and exceptional build quality that RC car UK shoppers have come to expect from this premium brand. Whether you're new to suspension tuning or an experienced competitor, this spring set provides the foundation for truly personalised performance.
Key Features
- Comprehensive Spring Variety — This kit includes soft, medium, and hard spring options (two pairs of each) to give you complete flexibility in customising your suspension. Rather than being stuck with a single spring rate, you have three distinct options to match different track conditions, weather, and your personal driving preferences, which is essential for competitive RC racing or optimising handling characteristics.
- Matched Left and Right Pairs — Each spring type is provided as properly matched left and right pairs (two of each), ensuring balanced suspension geometry and symmetrical handling response. This precision pairing is critical for preventing the motorcycle from pulling to one side and maintains predictable cornering behaviour on every ride.
- Factory Genuine Parts — Manufactured by Losi using the same quality standards and materials as the original equipment on your Promoto-MX or Promoto-SM, these springs integrate seamlessly without any fitment issues or compatibility concerns that can arise with aftermarket alternatives.
- Suspension Tuning Without Major Upgrades — Spring selection is one of the most cost-effective ways to transform your motorcycle's handling without purchasing entirely new suspension components, making this set excellent value for money for RC enthusiasts looking to improve performance incrementally.
- Multiple Model Compatibility — This spring set is compatible with the entire Promoto-MX and Promoto-SM range, including the 1/4 Promoto-MX Motorcycle RTR with Battery and Charger, Club MX and FXR variants, plus both versions of the Promoto-SM FXR Supermoto Motorcycle RTR, giving you a versatile upgrade path across the Losi motorcycle family.
Technical Performance
This front fork spring set represents precision suspension engineering for 1/4 scale RC motorcycles. The inclusion of three distinct spring rates—soft, medium, and hard—allows you to make significant adjustments to your motorcycle's suspension stiffness without replacing entire shock assemblies. In the context of RC motorcycle performance, spring selection directly affects how your machine handles mid-corner stiffness, acceleration response, brake dive characteristics, and overall ride comfort. Softer springs provide more compliance over rough terrain and smoother bumps, making them ideal for worn tracks or extremely bumpy surfaces where additional suspension travel helps maintain traction. Medium springs offer balanced performance across most conditions, providing a good starting point for general riding and racing. Hard springs deliver increased support for high-speed cornering, reduce suspension squat during acceleration, and minimise dive under braking—valuable characteristics when pushing your Promoto-MX or Promoto-SM to its competitive limits. The factory engineering ensures these springs work perfectly with your motorcycle's existing suspension geometry and damping characteristics, creating a harmonious system rather than fighting against mismatched components. Materials and construction quality align with Losi's reputation for durability and reliability, ensuring consistent performance over extended use and multiple riding sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which spring rate should I start with for my Losi Promoto-MX or Promoto-SM? — Most riders find medium springs provide an excellent baseline for general riding and racing. If you find your motorcycle feels too bouncy or unstable, try hard springs; if it feels harsh or bottoms out easily, switch to soft springs. Your track surface, riding style, and weight all influence the ideal choice.
- Can I use different spring rates on the left and right sides of my motorcycle? — Yes, many competitive RC riders experiment with asymmetrical spring setups to tune handling for specific corners or preferences. However, we recommend starting with matched pairs on both sides to establish a baseline before progressing to asymmetrical configurations.
- Will these springs fit other Losi motorcycle models? — These springs are specifically designed for the Promoto-MX and Promoto-SM model range. They are not compatible with other Losi RC vehicles or motorcycles from different manufacturers. Always verify compatibility before purchasing tuning parts.
- How often should I change my springs? — Springs don't typically wear out under normal use like dampers do. You change springs to adjust handling characteristics, not for maintenance reasons. Many competitive RC enthusiasts switch spring rates between races depending on track conditions, but casual riders might use the same springs indefinitely.
- Is suspension tuning suitable for beginners? — Yes, spring selection is actually an excellent starting point for learning suspension tuning. It's less complex than adjusting damping or anti-roll bars, provides immediate and noticeable changes to handling, and costs less than other upgrades. Beginners can easily swap springs to discover how suspension affects their motorcycle's performance.
- What is the difference between this Losi spring set and generic aftermarket options? — Losi factory springs are engineered specifically for the Promoto-MX and Promoto-SM suspension geometry, ensuring perfect fitment and complementary performance with the existing dampers. Generic springs might work but could create unpredictable handling characteristics or fitment issues. Factory parts guarantee compatibility and performance tuning expertise.
