Overview

The PRB Servo 5.3kg 4.8-6V Waterproof Analog is a professional-grade standard servo designed specifically for demanding RC boating applications where reliability and performance are paramount. This waterproof servo delivers the steering precision and durability that serious RC boat enthusiasts demand, whether you're operating a high-speed brushless RC boat or a traditional powered vessel. Built to withstand the harsh marine environment, this servo represents excellent value for UK RC hobbyists looking to upgrade or repair their RC boats with a trusted component from Pro Boat, a recognised leader in RC watercraft engineering.

Whether you're running a compact 24-inch RC speedboat in your local park pond or piloting a larger craft across open water, the 5.3kg servo provides confident steering control with robust waterproof construction that protects against saltwater spray, freshwater submersion, and the general moisture exposure that comes with RC boating. The 4.8-6V voltage range makes it compatible with standard 2S and 3S LiPo battery systems commonly found in modern ready-to-run RC boats, ensuring seamless integration into your existing setup. For those looking to replace a damaged servo, upgrade from a less capable standard servo, or build a custom RC boat from scratch, this waterproof analog servo is an ideal choice that combines reliability with affordability.

Measuring 25 teeth on its output spline, this servo offers a proven design that has been factory-fitted to high-performance RTR RC boats from Pro Boat, demonstrating its suitability for both beginner-friendly ready-to-run applications and more experienced custom builds. The waterproof engineering ensures extended service life even in challenging maritime conditions, making it a smart investment for any UK RC boat owner who wants dependable steering without compromise.

Key Features

  • Waterproof Construction — The fully waterproof design protects all internal components from water ingress, saltwater corrosion and moisture damage, making it suitable for extended operation in marine environments where standard servos would fail or corrode.
  • 5.3kg Torque Rating — This servo delivers sufficient steering torque to control RC boats in challenging conditions including choppy water and strong crosswinds, ensuring responsive and reliable directional control even when conditions deteriorate.
  • 4.8-6V Operating Range — Compatible with both 4.8V NiMH and 5.0-6.0V LiPo battery systems, this flexible voltage range allows use across a wide variety of RC boat platforms and ensures compatibility with modern 2S and 3S battery packs commonly used in ready-to-run RC boats.
  • Analog Control Technology — The proven analog servo control system provides smooth, responsive steering without the latency issues that sometimes affect digital servos, delivering immediate feedback that RC boaters appreciate when navigating tight spaces or executing rapid course corrections.
  • 25-Tooth Spline Output — The standard 25-tooth spline design ensures compatibility with a comprehensive range of RC boat servo linkages, pushrods, and control horns, making replacement and upgrade options readily available from aftermarket suppliers across the UK.
  • Factory-Tested Reliability — This servo comes from the same quality control process used for Pro Boat's factory-assembled ready-to-run RC boats, meaning it has been proven in demanding applications and represents a trusted component trusted by RC boat manufacturers.

Technical Performance

The PRB Servo 5.3kg 4.8-6V Waterproof Analog servo represents a mature, battle-tested design specifically engineered for the demanding maritime RC environment. With a torque rating of 5.3kg, this servo generates sufficient force to control steering mechanisms on RC boats ranging from small park pond bashers to larger high-performance craft, even when navigating rough water conditions that create additional resistance. The waterproof construction extends beyond simple sealing — it incorporates engineering specifically designed to prevent corrosion in salt water environments and to shed water from critical moving parts, ensuring that servos used in coastal locations or with saltwater-based boat models maintain consistent performance across seasons. The 4.8-6V operating specification demonstrates compatibility with two distinct battery ecosystems: traditional 4.8V NiMH cells and modern lithium polymer systems delivering 5.0V (2S at nominal 5.0V) through 6.0V (2S at fully charged state). This broad compatibility makes the servo an ideal choice for upgrading existing RC boats to modern battery systems or for constructing new craft using contemporary power sources. The analog control circuit processes steering commands with minimal latency, providing immediate response to transmitter input — a characteristic that RC boat operators value highly when executing precise manoeuvres in confined spaces or when adapting quickly to changing water conditions. The 25-tooth spline represents the industry-standard output shaft configuration for RC boat servos, ensuring that replacement servo horns, control arms, and linkage hardware remain readily available from multiple suppliers across the United Kingdom and internationally.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this waterproof servo suitable for saltwater RC boating? — Yes, the waterproof construction specifically protects against saltwater spray and submersion, though regular freshwater rinsing after saltwater use is recommended to extend component life and prevent salt crystal accumulation.
  • What voltage battery should I use with this servo? — This servo operates across the 4.8-6V range, making it compatible with both traditional 4.8V NiMH battery packs and modern 2S LiPo batteries which deliver nominal 7.4V but are typically limited to 6.0V maximum through voltage regulators in RC boat ESCs, or direct 5V nominal operation in some systems.
  • Can I use this servo as a replacement in my Pro Boat Sonicwake 24? — Yes, this exact servo (PRB18039) is the factory-fitted standard servo in the Pro Boat Sonicwake 24 RTR RC boat, making it an ideal replacement if your existing servo requires repair or upgrade.
  • What is the difference between this analog servo and a digital servo? — Analog servos use continuous circuits to process steering commands and offer smooth, responsive control with minimal latency, making them ideal for RC boat steering where immediate response is crucial. Digital servos employ microprocessor-based control systems that update command processing at fixed intervals, which can introduce slight delays that some boaters notice in tight manoeuvring situations.
  • Is this servo suitable for beginners? — Yes, the 5.3kg torque rating makes this servo suitable for beginner-level RC boats and ready-to-run craft, providing adequate steering control without excessive speed or complexity that might overwhelm new operators.
  • What is the 25-tooth spline? — The 25-tooth output spline is the standard mechanical connection point on the servo shaft where you attach the servo horn or control arm, determining the mechanical linkage geometry to your boat's rudder or steering mechanism.
