Overview

The RPM Rear A-arms Black for V5 / EXB versions of the 6S Arrma (RPM81722) represent a significant upgrade for owners of ARRMA's latest generation monster trucks, stunt trucks, and speed trucks. If you're running an ARRMA Kraton, Notorious, Talion, Fireteam or Outcast in V5 or EXB specification, these reinforced rear A-arms are essential maintenance items and performance upgrades that will transform your RC car's handling characteristics and durability. Whether you're a serious RC competitor, a weekend basher, or an enthusiast looking to get the most out of your 6S brushless RC truck, these purpose-designed A-arms deliver the strength and versatility that modern high-speed RC vehicles demand.

RPM has engineered these rear A-arms from the ground up to match the suspension geometry changes that ARRMA introduced in their V5 and EXB vehicle editions. The design is completely different from earlier generations, featuring beefier construction, additional mounting options, and engineering-grade nylon materials that can withstand the extreme forces generated by a powerful 6S LiPo powered RC truck. These aren't just simple replacement parts—they're a genuine performance enhancement that improves suspension handling, increases durability, and gives you the flexibility to dial in your setup exactly how you want it. Available in the UK through RC Model Shop, these A-arms are an investment in reliability and performance for your ARRMA 6S fleet.

For UK RC enthusiasts looking for quality suspension upgrades for their ARRMA vehicles, the RPM rear A-arm represents outstanding value and genuine engineering innovation. The combination of increased material thickness, additional shock mounting options, and battle-tested engineering-grade nylon construction makes this one of the most important chassis upgrades you can make to your 6S RC truck.

Key Features

  • Completely redesigned for V5 and EXB specifications — These rear A-arms are purpose-engineered for ARRMA's latest V5 and EXB vehicle editions, with suspension geometry that matches the factory changes introduced in these newer models. This ensures perfect fitment and optimal suspension performance without compromises or modifications.
  • 30% thicker support beams for increased durability — RPM has significantly increased the material thickness of the support beams compared to their original 6S A-arm design, resulting in dramatically improved strength and rigidity. This reduces flex during hard cornering and acceleration, translating to more predictable handling and better suspension performance in challenging conditions.
  • Dual shock mount positions for suspension versatility — The A-arms feature two different shock mounting holes, including an additional position further outboard that allows you to run a lower profile suspension setup. This mounting flexibility means you can fine-tune your suspension geometry, drop the ride height for improved centre of gravity, and achieve higher corner speeds.
  • Lower centre of gravity capability — By using the outer shock mount hole, you can lay your shocks down at a lower angle, which drops your vehicle's ride height and significantly lowers the centre of gravity. A lower centre of gravity directly translates to increased grip and the ability to maintain higher speeds through corners, providing a real competitive advantage.
  • Stock replacement for ARRMA ARA330654 — These A-arms are direct replacements for the factory ARRMA suspension arms, meaning they bolt straight on without any modification, drilling, or fitting work required. Simply remove the old arms and install these RPM units.
  • Sold as a complete pair — Each package includes one left rear A-arm and one right rear A-arm, giving you everything needed to upgrade or replace both rear A-arms on your RC truck in one purchase.
  • Engineering-grade nylon construction — RPM manufactures these A-arms from their proven blend of engineering-grade nylons, materials that have been tested in the most demanding RC racing and bashing conditions. This material selection provides an excellent balance of strength, flexibility, and impact resistance.
  • Reverse compatibility with V4 and earlier models — Although designed specifically for V5 and EXB vehicles, these A-arms are reverse compatible with V4 and earlier ARRMA models (see Version Notes below), giving you options if you're running older generation vehicles or considering upgrading your suspension.
  • Limited lifetime warranty — RPM backs these A-arms with their limited lifetime warranty, reflecting confidence in the design and build quality of this product.

Technical Performance

The RPM rear A-arms represent serious engineering advances in suspension design for 1/8 scale 6S brushless RC trucks. The decision to increase support beam thickness by 30% over the original 6S design wasn't made lightly—this added material directly improves the structural rigidity of the arms, reducing unwanted flex that occurs under the extreme forces generated by a high-powered brushless motor system. When you're accelerating hard with a brushless 6S system delivering maximum torque, or taking a high-speed corner with grip-heavy tyres, the rear suspension experiences tremendous forces. Traditional plastic A-arms can flex under this load, which makes the suspension feel sloppy and unpredictable. RPM's thicker beam design counteracts this, providing a solid, responsive suspension feel that translates driver inputs directly to vehicle motion. The inclusion of two shock mounting positions demonstrates engineering sophistication—the inner holes maintain stock geometry for V5 and EXB vehicles, whilst the outer holes (which must not be used on V5/EXB models) are designed for V4 and earlier vehicles. This means you have genuine suspension tuning capability; by mounting your shocks at different positions, you can alter the effective spring rate, ride height, and suspension geometry to suit different track conditions, driving styles, or racing applications. The material selection—engineering-grade nylon—provides the durability needed for serious RC use. Unlike cheaper plastic alternatives, these nylons are formulated to maintain their properties under repeated impact and stress, crucial for vehicles regularly running across rough terrain or competing in organised RC racing events.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are these rear A-arms compatible with my ARRMA 6S truck? — The RPM81722 rear A-arms are specifically designed for V5 and EXB versions of ARRMA's 6S vehicles including the Kraton, Outcast, Notorious, Talion and Fireteam. They are also reverse compatible with V4 and earlier models, though the mounting hole geometry differs between generations. Check your vehicle's documentation or count the generation badges on your truck to confirm compatibility. If you're unsure which version you own, visit an RC Model Shop and our team can help identify your vehicle.
  • How do the dual shock mounting positions work and why would I use different holes? — The RPM rear A-arms feature two different shock mounting hole positions. For V5 and EXB models, you must use the inner shock mount holes, which maintain the factory suspension geometry. The outer holes are provided for V4 and earlier vehicles. The outer mounting position allows you to run a lower profile suspension setup, dropping the ride height and lowering your vehicle's centre of gravity for improved cornering speed and grip. Different mounting positions also affect the effective spring rate and suspension response, allowing you to fine-tune your setup for different tracks or driving styles.
  • What makes these A-arms better than the original RPM 6S design? — RPM significantly upgraded these A-arms compared to their original 6S version. The support beams are now 30% thicker, providing substantially improved strength and reduced flex. They've also added the extra shock mounting hole for suspension versatility. These aren't minor tweaks—the thicker beams mean your suspension will feel more responsive, handle more precisely, and experience less unwanted flex during aggressive driving, particularly important when running powerful brushless 6S LiPo systems.
  • Can I use these A-arms with my older V4 ARRMA truck? — Yes, these RPM rear A-arms are reverse compatible with V4 and earlier ARRMA 6S models. However, the suspension geometry differs between generations. For V4 and earlier vehicles, you must use the outer shock mount and outer sway bar holes, not the inner holes. The inner holes are exclusively for V5 and EXB models. Do not mix and match mounting holes between generations unless you're intentionally converting your entire suspension to V5/EXB components.
  • Will these A-arms improve my RC truck's handling? — Yes. The 30% thicker support beams reduce flex, which means less suspension movement in directions you don't want and more predictable handling response. When your suspension flexes excessively, the vehicle feels unpredictable and loose; the stiffer RPM A-arms eliminate this, giving you more confidence at high speeds and in corners. Additionally, the lower centre of gravity possible with the outer shock mounting position means better grip and stability.
  • What material are these A-arms made from? — RPM manufactures these rear A-arms from their engineering-grade nylon blend, the same durable material used across their suspension component range. This material is significantly tougher than standard plastic, offering excellent impact resistance and durability whilst maintaining the flexibility needed for suspension articulation. Engineering-grade nylons have been battle-tested in professional RC racing and serious bashing applications.
  • Are these A-arms available in different colours? — The RPM81722 is supplied in black. RPM also manufactures compatible mud guards in both black and red for additional style customisation.
  • Do I need anything else to install these A-arms? — The A-arms themselves are a direct bolt-on replacement for factory ARRMA units. You don't require any additional parts or modifications to fit them. However, if you're replacing worn or damaged arms, you may want to inspect your shocks, ball bearings, and turnbuckles whilst you have the suspension apart, and consider RPM Mud Guards (RPM #81532 or #81539) to protect your new investment from dirt and rock strikes.
  • What warranty do these A-arms come with? — RPM backs the rear A-arms with a limited lifetime warranty, demonstrating the manufacturer's confidence in the design and materials. Specific warranty terms are available on the RPM website or from RC Model Shop.
