Overview
The Spektrum SPM A200 2.3g Long-Throw Linear Off-Set Servo is a precision micro servo engineered for RC aircraft and ultra-light scale models where weight savings and linear control are critical. This ultra-compact servo represents the cutting edge of miniaturisation in RC hobby electronics, delivering the control authority needed for demanding flight applications whilst keeping your model's weight budget to an absolute minimum. Whether you're building a park flyer, a micro RC aeroplane, or any application requiring feather-light servo solutions, the A200 offers the performance characteristics demanded by serious RC enthusiasts across the UK and beyond.
Designed and manufactured by Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC radio systems and components, the A200 servo combines innovative engineering with proven reliability. This specialist servo is particularly sought after by RC aircraft builders and competition pilots who understand that saving every gram can mean the difference between a model that flies beautifully and one that struggles to leave the ground. The long-throw linear offset design means this servo delivers exceptional range of motion whilst maintaining the precision control that modern RC flying demands.
RC Model Shop stocks the A200 as part of our comprehensive range of Spektrum components and accessories. Whether you're a seasoned RC pilot refurbishing a favourite micro aircraft or a beginner discovering the world of lightweight RC models, this servo represents genuine quality engineering backed by Spektrum's reputation for innovation in the RC hobby.
Key Features
- Ultra-Light 2.3g Weight — At just 2.3 grams, this servo is designed for models where every milligram counts towards achieving perfect weight balance and flight performance, making it ideal for micro RC aircraft and ultra-light foam models.
- Long-Throw Design — The extended throw mechanism provides a greater range of control surface movement, giving you more authority over flight surfaces and more precise trim adjustments for challenging flight conditions.
- Linear Offset Configuration — This specialised design delivers consistent, predictable control response across the full range of servo movement, which is essential for smooth, stable flight characteristics in any RC aircraft.
- Compact Form Factor — The small physical size allows installation in confined spaces within ultra-light airframes where traditional servos simply won't fit, opening up design possibilities for innovative micro RC projects.
- Spektrum Quality and Reliability — Manufactured by Spektrum, a brand trusted by RC professionals and enthusiasts worldwide, this servo benefits from decades of research and development in precision RC control systems.
Technical Performance
The Spektrum A200 represents the pinnacle of micro servo engineering, delivering professional-grade performance in an incredibly compact package weighing just 2.3 grams. This servo operates on 4.8 to 6.0 volts, making it compatible with standard RC battery systems used throughout the UK RC hobby community. The long-throw linear offset design ensures that control inputs translate smoothly and predictably into flight surface movement, which is absolutely critical when flying delicate micro RC aircraft where even small control errors can result in loss of the model. The servo's construction utilises precision engineering to maintain consistent performance across its full range of motion, essential for the repeatable control that competitive RC flying demands. The linear offset configuration means the servo's pivot point is offset from the centre of travel, providing extended control throws that give you more authority when you need maximum deflection of control surfaces. This makes the A200 particularly valuable for applications where space is constrained but control authority cannot be compromised. Whether you're building a competition-grade micro aircraft or a recreational park flyer, the A200's combination of minimal weight, full control range and Spektrum's engineering excellence makes it the servo of choice for discriminating RC pilots who refuse to compromise on performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Spektrum A200 suitable for beginner RC aircraft builders? — Whilst the A200 is technically accessible to beginners, it is specifically engineered for applications where ultra-light weight is paramount. Beginners are best served by standard micro servos unless they are specifically building ultra-light foam or balsa aircraft. However, if you are building a dedicated micro RC aeroplane project, the A200 delivers the control authority and reliability you need.
- What voltage does the A200 servo require? — The A200 operates on 4.8 to 6.0 volts, making it compatible with two-cell LiPo batteries (7.4V nominal) when used with a voltage regulator, or directly with 5-cell NiMH battery packs commonly used in RC aircraft. Always ensure your power supply is correctly regulated to the specified voltage range to maintain optimal servo performance and lifespan.
- What makes the long-throw linear offset design special? — The long-throw design provides an extended range of control surface movement compared to standard servos, whilst the linear offset configuration ensures this extended movement remains smooth and predictable across the entire throw. This combination gives RC pilots more control authority without requiring a heavier or larger servo, which is exactly what micro aircraft builders need.
- How does the A200 compare to other micro servos? — The A200's 2.3-gram weight places it at the absolute extreme end of the ultra-light servo spectrum, making it perfect for weight-critical applications where standard micro servos at 9-13 grams would be unacceptably heavy. The long-throw linear offset design is a specialised feature that distinguishes it from conventional micro servos and makes it the preferred choice for competition micro aircraft builders.
- Is the A200 waterproof? — Based on the technical specifications, the A200 is not rated as water resistant, making it unsuitable for outdoor models exposed to rain or water. Use this servo in covered fuselages or indoor-flown models only.
- What aircraft types is the A200 designed for? — This servo excels in ultra-light foam models, micro balsa aircraft, competition park flyers, and any scale or sport model where absolute minimum weight is essential. It is not suitable for larger models or those requiring heavy-duty servo performance.
