Overview
The Traxxas Stub Axle, Rear, 6mm (Steel-splined constant-velocity driveshaft) TRX6453 represents a premium drivetrain upgrade for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand maximum torque handling and efficient power transfer. This pack contains two steel rear CV driveshafts, each featuring the larger 6mm stub axle design that serious RC car owners rely on for demanding driving conditions. Whether you're running a high-performance RC buggy, monster truck, or stadium truck, these heavy-duty driveshafts are engineered to handle the punishment of aggressive driving whilst maintaining smooth, reliable power delivery to your wheels.
If you're searching for quality RC car spares in the UK, you'll appreciate that Traxxas driveshafts are recognised as the gold standard in the hobby. These steel-splined constant-velocity driveshafts represent a significant step up from standard plastic alternatives, offering durability that serious RC bashers and racers have come to expect. The engineering behind these components ensures that whether you're a weekend basher pushing your RC vehicle to its limits or a competitive racer demanding consistency lap after lap, you're getting components built to perform at the highest level.
The constant-velocity joint design is critical for smooth operation across a wide range of suspension articulation, maintaining consistent power delivery even when your suspension is fully compressed or extended. This is precisely why discerning RC enthusiasts upgrade to steel CV driveshafts—the difference in handling, smoothness and longevity is immediately noticeable on the track or trail.
Key Features
- 6mm Stub Axle Design — The larger 6mm stub axle provides significantly increased torque capacity compared to smaller alternatives, making these driveshafts ideal for high-powered brushless RC vehicles and demanding driving styles. The increased diameter means greater strength and reliability when running aggressive setups.
- Steel-Splined Construction — Unlike plastic-splined alternatives, the steel splines on these driveshafts deliver superior torque transmission with virtually zero slip, ensuring every ounce of power from your motor reaches the wheels efficiently and consistently.
- Constant-Velocity Joint Technology — The CV joint design maintains smooth power delivery across the full range of suspension articulation, preventing bind and ensuring predictable handling characteristics whether your suspension is fully compressed or fully extended during aggressive driving.
- Lubricated and Sealed U-Joints — The outer U-joints feature protective rubber boots that seal in lubrication whilst keeping out dirt, mud, water and debris. This sealed design dramatically extends component lifespan and maintains smooth operation in all UK weather conditions.
- Captive U-Joint Pins — The pins are held firmly in place by the design, eliminating any risk of losing critical components during your driving sessions. This engineering detail gives you peace of mind knowing your driveshaft won't fail due to a loose pin coming out mid-race.
- Gleaming Nickel-Plated Shafts — The nickel plating provides both aesthetic appeal and corrosion protection, giving your RC car a custom, polished appearance whilst protecting the steel from rust in wet conditions commonly experienced in UK driving environments.
- Black Silicone Boots — The black silicone protective boots contrast beautifully with the nickel-plated shafts for a professional, custom appearance whilst providing essential protection to the CV joints from the elements.
- Universal Fitment — Each driveshaft fits either left or right rear position, providing maximum compatibility and flexibility when setting up your RC vehicle or replacing worn components.
- Pack of Two — This package contains two complete driveshafts, allowing you to upgrade both rear sides of your RC car in a single purchase, ensuring balanced performance across your entire drivetrain.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX6453 represents the pinnacle of driveshaft engineering for serious RC enthusiasts. The combination of steel-splined construction and the larger 6mm stub axle diameter creates a component capable of handling the extreme torque output of modern brushless RC motors whilst maintaining the smooth, predictable power delivery that competitive drivers demand. The constant-velocity joint technology is critical for maintaining handling consistency—as your suspension compresses and extends during cornering and acceleration, the CV joint compensates for changes in driveline angle, preventing the binding and vibration that plague inferior designs. This is why professional RC racers and experienced bashers across the UK specifically choose steel CV driveshafts. The sealed, lubricated U-joints with captive pins represent Traxxas's attention to detail in component longevity; the rubber boots keep contamination out whilst maintaining optimal lubrication, meaning these shafts will outlast cheaper alternatives by a significant margin. The nickel plating adds corrosion resistance crucial for those who drive their RC cars in British weather, from wet grass tracks to muddy trails. Whether you're upgrading from plastic stock components or replacing worn driveshafts, the improvement in durability, torque capacity and smoothness is immediately apparent from your first driving session.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What Traxxas models are these driveshafts compatible with? — The TRX6453 steel-splined constant-velocity driveshafts with 6mm stub axle are designed as a performance upgrade for various Traxxas RC vehicles. These are genuine Traxxas spare parts, so compatibility is assured with models that originally featured this driveshaft specification. If you're upgrading from stock components, we recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our experienced team to confirm fitment before purchasing.
- Why should I upgrade to steel-splined CV driveshafts from plastic alternatives? — Steel-splined driveshafts offer dramatically superior torque capacity, eliminating slip that occurs with plastic splines. The constant-velocity joint technology provides smoother power delivery and more predictable handling. The sealed, lubricated design with captive pins means these components last significantly longer than stock alternatives, making them an excellent investment for anyone serious about their RC car's performance and longevity.
- What is the difference between a constant-velocity driveshaft and a standard driveshaft? — Constant-velocity driveshafts use a specialised CV joint that maintains smooth power delivery even when the suspension is fully compressed or extended. Standard driveshafts can bind and cause handling inconsistencies during aggressive suspension articulation. For high-performance driving, competitive racing, and weekend bashing, CV driveshafts provide superior performance and are now considered the standard in quality RC setups.
- How do the sealed U-joints with rubber boots help? — The rubber boots create a protective seal that keeps dirt, mud, sand and water out whilst trapping lubrication inside the U-joint. This sealed design is particularly valuable for UK RC drivers who face wet, muddy conditions. Without this protection, contamination would degrade the joint and cause premature wear. The sealed design means you get longer component life and more reliable performance session after session.
- Can these driveshafts fit both left and right rear positions? — Yes, the universal design of these driveshafts allows them to fit either the left or right rear position, providing flexibility in your setup and making them genuinely versatile spares to keep in your RC toolbox.
- Are these genuine Traxxas parts? — Yes, the TRX6453 is an official Traxxas part number, ensuring you're getting genuine components engineered to Traxxas's exacting standards. When you purchase from authorised retailers like RC Model Shop, you can be confident you're receiving authentic Traxxas products with full compatibility assurance.
