Overview

TLR Silicone Shock Oil 55WT is an essential pit accessory designed specifically for RC racers who demand competition-proven performance from their equipment. Manufactured by Team Losi Racing, this premium silicone shock oil is formulated to help maintain your RC car or truck suspension system in peak racing condition. Whether you're a seasoned competitor running your RC buggy or truggy at the track, or a dedicated enthusiast maintaining your RC vehicle at home, having the correct shock oil viscosity is crucial for achieving optimal suspension tuning and handling characteristics. This 2oz bottle of 55WT silicone shock oil with a viscosity rating of 760cSt represents one specification in TLR's comprehensive range of shock oils, allowing you to fine-tune your suspension exactly as the TLR Factory Team drivers do.

The Team Losi Racing pit accessories lineup is recognised throughout the RC racing community as the choice of the most experienced and successful RC drivers. Just as you'll spot genuine TLR branded equipment on every pit bench at professional RC racing events, serious hobbyists and competitors across the UK rely on TLR maintenance products to keep their vehicles running at their best. Shock oil selection is not a trivial matter in RC racing — the correct viscosity directly impacts how your suspension responds to bumps, corners, and acceleration, influencing your vehicle's handling balance and overall performance on the track. TLR Silicone Shock Oil 55WT provides the consistency and quality you need for serious competition or enthusiast-level racing.

Like all genuine TLR pit accessories, this silicone shock oil is manufactured to the same exacting standards as TLR RC buggies and truggies. You can trust that you're getting a product designed by RC racing experts who understand suspension tuning at the highest levels of the sport. When you stock your pit bench with TLR track supplies and pit accessories, you're investing in the same products used by TLR Factory Team drivers to maintain their race-winning vehicles. Make TLR maintenance products and pit accessories part of your race-winning strategy, just like the most successful RC racers do.

Key Features

  • 55WT Viscosity Rating — This specific weight designation indicates the thickness and flow characteristics of the oil at operating temperature, allowing you to select the exact viscosity needed for your suspension tuning requirements and track conditions.
  • 760cSt Measurement — The centistoke (cSt) measurement provides precise viscosity data for technical racers who need exact specifications when comparing different shock oils and making suspension adjustments for optimal vehicle performance.
  • Silicone-Based Formula — Silicone shock oils offer superior consistency and performance characteristics compared to mineral oils, providing more predictable suspension behaviour across varying temperatures and driving conditions at the track.
  • 2oz Bottle Size — This convenient 2oz container provides enough shock oil for multiple shock refills and adjustments, making it practical for regular maintenance and experimentation with different viscosity settings during race preparation.
  • Genuine TLR Product — As an authentic Team Losi Racing pit accessory, this shock oil is designed and engineered specifically for RC racing applications with the same attention to quality as all other TLR products.
  • Professional-Grade Quality — TLR shock oils are used by TLR Factory Team drivers and serious RC competitors worldwide, ensuring this product meets the demanding requirements of competitive RC racing.
  • Essential Pit Accessory — Every well-equipped RC racing pit bench needs quality shock oil on hand, allowing you to make critical suspension adjustments between heats and respond to track condition changes throughout the race day.

Technical Performance

TLR Silicone Shock Oil 55WT represents the precision engineering approach that Team Losi Racing applies to every product in their pit accessories lineup. At 760cSt viscosity, this oil provides a specific flow rate and damping characteristic that directly influences how your RC vehicle's suspension absorbs impacts and responds to directional changes. Silicone-based formulations like this offer superior performance characteristics compared to standard mineral oils, maintaining more consistent viscosity across temperature variations that might occur during an intense race day with multiple heats. The silicone chemistry ensures your shocks deliver predictable damping performance whether you're running early morning qualifying sessions or pushing hard in the final races when track temperatures have climbed. This level of precision in shock oil specification is what separates competitive RC racing from casual bashing — the difference between a finely tuned suspension that responds exactly as expected and one that behaves unpredictably. TLR engineers understand that competitive RC buggy and truggy racing demands this level of control. The 2oz bottle provides practical quantity for shock maintenance and adjustment, allowing you to refill multiple shocks or experiment with viscosity changes during race weekend preparation. Whether you're fine-tuning your 1/10 or 1/8 scale RC buggy for off-road racing, maintaining a truggy for high-speed track work, or setting up any other competition RC vehicle, having the correct shock oil viscosity available is non-negotiable for serious racers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is shock oil used for in RC cars? — Shock oil fills the damping chambers inside RC vehicle shock absorbers, controlling how quickly the suspension compresses and extends when the vehicle hits bumps, corners, or accelerates. The oil's viscosity directly affects suspension responsiveness and handling balance, making shock oil selection a critical part of RC vehicle tuning.
  • How do I know which shock oil viscosity to choose for my RC vehicle? — Shock oil viscosity should be selected based on your specific RC vehicle, track conditions, and driving style. Lighter oils (lower WT numbers like 27.5WT or 30WT) provide softer suspension action, while heavier oils (higher WT numbers like 50WT or 55WT) provide stiffer, more responsive suspension. Team Losi Racing offers a comprehensive range of shock oils from 27.5WT through 50WT allowing you to find the perfect specification for your setup.
  • Is TLR Silicone Shock Oil suitable for different types of RC vehicles? — Yes, TLR Silicone Shock Oil is designed for use in shocks across the range of Team Losi Racing RC buggies and truggies, and is compatible with most modern RC vehicles using oil-filled shock systems. Always verify that your specific vehicle's shock system uses oil-based damping rather than emulsion systems before selecting an oil.
  • What is the difference between 55WT shock oil and other viscosity weights? — The weight rating (WT) indicates the oil's thickness and flow rate. 55WT is heavier than lighter weights like 27.5WT (294cSt), 30WT (338cSt), 37.5WT (468cSt), 40WT (516cSt), 45WT (610cSt), or 50WT (710cSt), and provides stiffer suspension damping. The 760cSt viscosity of this 55WT oil makes it suitable for conditions requiring more responsive, firmer suspension action compared to lighter oils.
  • How much shock oil do I need? — A 2oz bottle provides sufficient quantity for multiple shock refills or viscosity experiments during race preparation. The exact amount depends on your vehicle's shock capacity and how many shocks you need to service. Most 1/10 and 1/8 scale RC vehicles have four shocks that each require relatively small volumes of oil.
  • Can I use TLR Silicone Shock Oil in any RC vehicle? — TLR shock oils are designed for oil-damped shock systems and are compatible with most RC buggies, truggies, and other vehicles using traditional shock absorbers. Do not use in vehicles with sealed dampers or proprietary shock systems without verification. Consult your vehicle's manual for shock oil specifications and capacity.
