Overview
TLR Silicone Shock Oil in 37.5WT viscosity is an essential maintenance fluid for RC racing enthusiasts who demand precision performance from their suspension systems. Manufactured by Team Losi Racing, one of the industry's most respected names in RC racing accessories and components, this silicone shock oil is formulated to deliver consistent damping characteristics that help your RC car UK suspension respond predictably across varying track conditions. Whether you're tuning a competitive race buggy, a nimble truggy, or preparing your brushless RC car for serious track action, having the correct shock oil viscosity is fundamental to achieving the handling balance your vehicle needs.
This 37.5WT formulation, rated at 468CST (Centistoke) viscosity, sits in the mid-range of TLR's comprehensive shock oil lineup, making it suitable for a wide variety of racing applications and driver preferences. The 2oz bottle provides sufficient quantity for filling and adjusting multiple shock absorbers, whether you're making mid-race tuning adjustments or performing routine maintenance on your ready to run RC car. Team Losi Racing shock oils are a trusted choice among competitive racers and weekend bashers alike, offering the reliability and consistency needed when every millisecond counts on the racing line.
RC racing demands precision in every component, and suspension tuning is no exception. The correct shock oil viscosity directly influences how your vehicle's suspension compresses and extends, affecting grip, stability, and cornering performance. TLR's silicone-based formulation ensures that your shocks perform reliably lap after lap, providing the damping consistency that serious racers depend on when setting up their vehicles for maximum performance.
Key Features
- 37.5WT Viscosity Rating — This mid-range weight provides a balanced damping characteristic suitable for numerous racing conditions and vehicle setups, allowing drivers to achieve predictable suspension response whether running on carpet, asphalt, or outdoor dirt tracks.
- 468CST (Centistoke) Standard Measurement — The CST rating provides a precise international standard measurement of fluid viscosity, ensuring consistency and compatibility with shock specifications across different RC racing brands and models.
- Silicone-Based Formula — Silicone shock oils offer superior stability across temperature ranges compared to other formulations, maintaining consistent damping characteristics even when your RC car experiences the heat generated during intense racing sessions.
- 2oz Bottle Size — The 2oz container is perfectly proportioned for hobbyists and competitors, providing enough fluid for filling and adjusting multiple shocks or making precision tuning adjustments between races without excessive waste.
- Team Losi Racing Engineering — Designed and engineered by TLR's experienced team of RC specialists, this shock oil meets the demanding standards required for competitive RC racing where suspension performance directly impacts race results.
- Part of TLR's Complete Suspension Range — TLR offers shock oils in multiple viscosity weights (27.5WT, 30WT, 35WT, 37.5WT, 40WT, 45WT, and 50WT), allowing serious racers to fine-tune suspension response precisely for their specific driving style and track conditions.
Technical Performance
The TLR Silicone Shock Oil 37.5WT represents a critical component in RC suspension tuning, where precise fluid viscosity directly translates to measurable performance differences. At 468CST, this formulation occupies the middle of the viscosity spectrum, making it an excellent starting point for drivers who are dialling in their vehicles or transitioning between different track conditions. The silicone-based construction ensures that the oil maintains its damping characteristics across temperature variations, a crucial factor when your RC buggy or truggy is pushing hard during competitive racing. Unlike lower-viscosity options (such as the 27.5WT at 294CST or 30WT at 338CST) which provide softer, more responsive suspension movement, the 37.5WT offers slightly more resistance, resulting in a firmer feel that many drivers prefer for high-speed cornering and maintaining vehicle stability. Conversely, heavier weights like the 50WT (710CST) and 45WT (610CST) provide maximum resistance for drivers seeking an ultra-stiff suspension setup. The engineering excellence behind TLR's shock oils ensures that whether you're running a brushless RC car on a competitive circuit or enjoying weekend racing, your suspension will perform predictably and reliably, enabling you to focus on driving technique rather than worrying about inconsistent damping response.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does 37.5WT and 468CST mean? — The WT (weight) and CST (Centistoke) are measurements of shock oil viscosity, which determines how much resistance the fluid provides to suspension movement. The 37.5WT rating is TLR's proprietary classification system, while 468CST is the internationally recognised standard measurement. This 37.5WT formulation represents a mid-range viscosity suitable for general racing applications, offering balanced suspension performance between lighter oils (which allow more suspension movement) and heavier oils (which restrict movement for a stiffer feel).
- How do I know which shock oil viscosity is right for my RC car? — Shock oil selection depends on your vehicle type, track conditions, and personal driving preference. Lighter viscosity oils (lower WT and CST numbers like 27.5WT at 294CST) provide softer, more responsive suspension suitable for bumpy tracks and drivers preferring a plush feel. Heavier oils (higher numbers like 50WT at 710CST) create a stiffer setup for smooth tracks and drivers wanting maximum stability. The 37.5WT sits in the middle, making it an excellent starting point for most racing conditions and a reliable choice when you're uncertain of your exact tuning needs.
- Is silicone shock oil better than other types? — Yes, silicone-based shock oils offer several advantages over mineral-based alternatives. Silicone formulations maintain consistent viscosity across a wider temperature range, meaning your shocks will perform predictably whether racing on a cool morning or under the heat of intense afternoon competition. This temperature stability is critical for competitive racers who need to rely on consistent suspension response lap after lap, making silicone the preferred choice for serious RC racing applications.
- Will one 2oz bottle be enough for my shocks? — A 2oz bottle typically contains sufficient fluid to fill the shock bodies of a complete RC vehicle setup (usually four shocks) or to make multiple tuning adjustments between races. The exact quantity needed depends on your specific shock design and how full you fill them, but 2oz is the standard size for hobbyists and weekend competitors. If you run multiple vehicles or require extensive tuning, you may want to keep several bottles on hand for convenience.
- Can I mix different viscosity shock oils? — Mixing different viscosity oils will alter the effective damping characteristic, potentially creating unpredictable suspension behaviour. For best results, maintain consistent viscosity throughout your vehicle's four shocks. However, some advanced racers intentionally use slightly different weights on front versus rear shocks as a tuning technique, but this requires experience and careful testing to achieve the desired effect.
- How often should I change my shock oil? — Shock oil should be inspected regularly for contamination, discolouration, or cloudiness, which indicate dirt or water infiltration. In normal racing conditions, oil can last for extended periods if kept clean, but many racers refresh their shocks before major competitions to ensure peak performance. If you notice any sign of contamination or if your shocks begin to feel inconsistent, drain and refill with fresh oil.
- Is TLR Silicone Shock Oil suitable for brushless RC cars? — Absolutely. Shock oil viscosity selection is independent of motor type (brushless or brushed). Whether your RC car features a brushless or brushed motor system, the suspension setup and shock oil choice remain the same, determined by track conditions, vehicle type, and your tuning preferences. TLR shock oils work perfectly with any suspension system.
