Overview
The Team Losi Racing Silicone Diff Fluid, 30,000CS (model Z-TLR5285) is a premium differential fluid designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision tuning and optimal performance from their radio-controlled vehicles. Whether you're a competitive racer, a weekend basher, or someone exploring the world of RC cars in the UK, having the right differential fluid is essential for maintaining consistent handling, smooth power delivery, and protecting your diff gears under demanding conditions. This high-viscosity silicone fluid represents the pinnacle of Team Losi Racing's engineering expertise, offering the exact performance characteristics needed for serious RC competitors and dedicated hobbyists alike.
Team Losi Racing is recognised globally as a leader in RC manufacturing, and their lubricant range reflects that commitment to quality and precision. The 30,000 centistoke rating of this diff fluid makes it an ideal choice for drivers who need a thicker fluid that provides excellent drag and protection without compromising diff performance. Whether you're tuning your ready-to-run RC car or fine-tuning a race kit, the ability to select the exact viscosity of your differential fluid gives you control over how your vehicle handles through corners and responds to driver input. This is the kind of component that separates casual RC enthusiasts from those serious about extracting every ounce of performance from their machines.
RC enthusiasts across the UK trust Team Losi Racing components because they're engineered to exacting standards and tested in real-world racing conditions. The TLR5285 represents a specific viscosity point in the Team Losi Racing silicone diff fluid range, allowing you to dial in the exact differential characteristics your vehicle needs for your particular driving style, track surface, and weather conditions.
Key Features
- High-Viscosity 30,000 Centistoke Rating — This thick silicone fluid is formulated specifically for drivers requiring maximum differential drag and protection, making it suitable for those who want their diff to work harder and respond with more resistance to rapid direction changes and aggressive cornering inputs.
- Pure Silicone Formulation — The silicone base ensures the fluid maintains consistent viscosity across a wide temperature range, which is critical for RC racing where ambient conditions can vary significantly throughout a day of driving or competition.
- Team Losi Racing Engineering — As a genuine Team Losi Racing product, this fluid benefits from decades of racing heritage and competitive development, meaning it's been tested and proven in the hands of professional and semi-professional RC racers around the world.
- Precision Tuning Control — By selecting the exact viscosity grade of your differential fluid, you gain a powerful tuning tool that allows you to fine-tune how your RC vehicle responds to steering input, accelerates through corners, and manages weight transfer during aggressive manoeuvres.
- Universal Compatibility — This silicone diff fluid is designed to work with standard Team Losi Racing differential units and is compatible with vehicles across their extensive RC car range, from buggies to truggies to other specialist platforms.
Technical Performance
The TLR Silicone Diff Fluid at 30,000CS represents one of the thicker options in Team Losi Racing's comprehensive lubricant portfolio. Centistokes (CS) is the standard measurement of kinematic viscosity in the RC industry, and this 30,000CS rating places it firmly in the heavy-duty category designed for drivers who want maximum differential resistance and protection. The pure silicone formulation ensures that the fluid won't thin excessively in warm conditions or thicken unpredictably in cooler temperatures, providing the stability and predictability that competitive RC drivers demand. Unlike mineral oils, silicone fluids maintain their viscosity characteristics across a broader temperature window, which is especially valuable when you're testing and tuning throughout the day as conditions change. The fluid's engineered composition protects differential gears from excessive wear whilst providing the right amount of drag to influence your vehicle's handling characteristics. When combined with other Team Losi Racing tuning options and components, this diff fluid becomes part of a complete system designed to deliver consistent, repeatable performance on the track or in off-road conditions. The 30,000CS viscosity is particularly favoured by drivers running more powerful builds or those competing in conditions where differential control is paramount to maintaining consistency lap after lap.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 30,000CS rating mean and how does it affect my RC car's performance? — CS stands for centistokes, which measures the viscosity or thickness of the fluid. A 30,000CS fluid is quite thick and provides substantial differential drag, making your RC car's diff work harder to transfer power between wheels. This heavier fluid is typically chosen by drivers who want more control over their vehicle's handling characteristics, particularly in high-speed cornering or when running high-powered setups where differential protection is important.
- How is this different from other Team Losi Racing diff fluids? — Team Losi Racing offers silicone diff fluids in multiple viscosity grades including 3,000CS, 4,000CS, 5,000CS, 6,000CS, and up to 80,000CS. The 30,000CS sits in the medium-heavy range, offering more drag than the lower viscosity options but less than the extreme 80,000CS. Your choice depends entirely on your driving style, your vehicle's setup, track conditions, and how you want your differential to behave.
- What type of RC vehicles use this diff fluid? — This silicone diff fluid is designed for use in various Team Losi Racing RC vehicles that feature differential units requiring lubrication. It's suitable for buggies, trucks, and other vehicles in the Team Losi Racing range where precise tuning of differential characteristics is important for competitive performance.
- Why should I choose silicone diff fluid over other options? — Silicone formulations offer superior temperature stability compared to mineral oils, meaning the fluid's viscosity remains more consistent whether you're driving in cool morning conditions or after your vehicle has been running hard and generating heat. This consistency is crucial for competitive RC racing where repeatability and predictable handling are essential.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst beginners can certainly use this product, differential fluid selection is typically more important to intermediate and advanced RC racers who are actively tuning their vehicles for competition. Beginners may want to start with a mid-range viscosity and adjust based on their driving experience and feedback from their vehicle's handling.
- How do I know which viscosity to choose for my RC car? — The best viscosity depends on multiple factors including your vehicle's setup, your driving style, track surface, weather conditions, and the recommendations from your vehicle's manufacturer. Many drivers experiment with different viscosities to find the sweet spot for their particular setup and conditions.
